Wasted*. Obviously, you haven't "waisted" your talents over learning, seems like you failed English class. You probably "waisted" your time during class to be an idiot. Also, your statement is very ironic because you say you are lazy and then you say you have studied a lot. To study, you need to use your energy to complete the homework. Another error in your comment is how it has a run-on sentence. "I've realised how lazy I've become and how I've wasted my talents to learn and how difficult my life has been like hers." You could correct your run-on sentence by saying, "I've realised how lazy I've become and how I've wasted my non-existent talents only to learn nothing from English class." It's most likely you didn't work hard in class because you couldn't learn how to spell "wasted". Also, you're going on KZbin. If you were a hard worker, you probably wouldn't be watching someone else's achievements and rather, working hard as you have said you've done.

Grades in most cases doesn't correlate with intelligence. It's more about drive and hard work.

Exactly genetics has very little to do with it... it is about discipline and focus. Someone could have Einstein's IQ but if they never pick up a book they will not make an A.
@rockwall53296 жыл бұрын
SoniB Xo My best friend is near genius. He has a 4.7 weighted GPA, but he is probably the least focused and disciplined AP student I know. He has ADHD and instead of paying attention in class, he either watches KZbin or tries talking to me (I pay attention). He doesn't read books or textbooks, writes essays in 1-2 hours, and copies almost every homework assignment. The only reason why he isn't getting into the Ivy League is that he is Asian. You're using hard work as a reason why people have different grades while it actually intelligence. You can work hard and do well, that is how most students do well, but it is the students who are genetically the most intelligent who are going to Ivy League schools.
@liz54735 жыл бұрын
Getting a's in ap classes has nothing to do with genetics lol. We're not talking about rocket science classes here..
@liz54735 жыл бұрын
@@rockwall5329 No. That's not true at all...grades matter. If you get amazing grades then it DOES play into the kind of intelligence you hone. Only smart people would study for hours and do every homework assignment instead of dicking off on the computer BECAUSE they know grades matter and they care. "Natural intelligence" plays very little into ivy league admissions. The smartest people I've known are smart because they work hard, have amazing work ethic, and spend every minute of the day learning more.

This is appalling, that no one reacted when a minor lives without electricity and needs to do so much work in addition to her school-related responsibilities. For example, where I live, in Germany, this would not have been tolerated for so long. In Germany, no minor has to work to ensure a basic livelyhood or healthcare. And the German youth protection law would not have let her live under such conditions, she would have been rehomed as soon as this would have been noticed. This looks like neoliberalism trying to sell people that they shouldn't take even the most basic things for granted, which is bullshit. The state must provide for its citizens, especially for the vulnerable ones. She shouldn't have needed to go through all that.

exactly! this is a feel good story, we're supposed to be moved just like when we hear "10-year-old boy sells lemonade by the street for weeks to pay for his dad's insuline". So inspiring! So nice! Except for the fact that it isn't.

For additional information, there are youth homes (in Germany) for people like her. They get fed, have their own room (although often shared with another kid ) and shared bathroom and kitchen. All for "free" btw, as Germany is a social democracy, which is economically to the left of Bernie Sanders (he'd be centre-right here). Her parents would have lost the right to live with her by law.

Nowadays she would have lost her spot at Harvard to a third-generation legacy rich kid with a 2.5 GPA and 900 SAT.

If you keep telling " yourself" that then that's what you'll be. You can also choose to look at her and feel inspired by her instead of insecure. She is no better than you are. The only difference is her actions and choices. Start taking actions and tell yourself if someone like this can do it than I definitely can! Every time it gets tough remember this girl and realize no one does anything praiseworthy by themselves. Go out ans make it happen :)
