In the skilled nursing setting, OT and PT may co-treat initially if a patient has poor sitting balance, low activity or standing tolerance, or is prone to behaviors, but not for a full treatment time. As a patient progresses, I think there's a sense of accomplishment for the patient when they can do their ADLs with OT, then later work with PT. Sometimes we may have a patient who says "all I want to do is walk". But when you tell them "you can't walk in the hallway without your pants on", they get it.
