@@BeardedBuildsCo what about the material on the bed… why didn’t you account for that??

Because that is the material you would be zeroing off of.

Why the 9mm adjustment? Where can I get the template to create the mm step guide? I have a OMT 60w in my middle school classroom but it seems to be out of adjustment. It will not even cut through cardboard

do or should you do a ramp test for different thickness materials? I dont have a laser yet but I think I saw some videos saying you can get better results cutting thicker material slightly out of focus. so I assume you should do a ramp test for the different thickness... Also can you assign different z heights for the layers in LB so the laser can engrave slightly out of focus and automatically adjust to in focus for cutting operations? Im planning on buying the same omtech 2440 100w laser.

Did you try it by setting the offset with the pin depressed? I understand you want the specific offset from the bottom of the dropped pin for the magnets, but curious if the distance you actually set was with the pin depressed as it does when setting autofocus. I literally just got my machine, so I haven't tried that yet myself.

i dont understand as you have another piece of mdf that the 9.21 scarps are sitting on?

Your videos have been incredibly helpful. I think I have the same or very similar machine. My ideal focus is about 17.5mm. I put my autofocus pen where I wanted it and then adjusted the number in the Z home offset area. After I write the number, the machine does nothing different. I can put 10mm offset, or 50mm. The machine still auto focuses on the exact same spot. Any ideas?

Depending on your controller you might have to adjust the U axis rather than the Z axis

@@BeardedBuildsCo I ended up changing the settings on the laser itself instead of in light burn. Now it works great. Thank you!

Can you lower the laser head in between passes when cutting something very thick? I know that's possible for some diodes but have not found information regarding co2

Thanks for sharing. I have been fulling your video but I have an issue. When my 50.8MM lens focuses at 3mm vs yours at 18mm. If I adjust mine the sensor is below the lens so it hit everything. Should I place a offset piece under the sensor and raise the sensor to that offset piece whenever auto focusing my laser? This way the sensor trips at the right autofocus setting.

I finally figured this out watching your video but my problem is my auto focus pen drags on material moving it how can I adjust it where it’s barely off the material. I have mine set at 14.8 for my distant of my laser focus so maybe I’m not doing my offset part right
@BeardedBuildsCo3 жыл бұрын
If you need more space then you need to adjust the pen up and then increase the offset.

Great video! I just got a Monport 80w laser and have it all connected with water chiller, exhaust venting, etc. I have a bit of experience with an Ortur LM2 Pro diode laser but no experience with a CO2. As I see it, the first thing I need to do is a ramp test, then change my offset in LightBurn, and do a test card. Do you have any suggestions on the next steps I should do, or any videos I should watch? I see a lot of people adding cameras, LED lighting, and air assist upgrading - are those things you personally recommend? Thanks for all you do! PS - I’m from Ogden but just moved to Mesquite about a year and a half ago. I see you are very close to where I used to live.

What if my new OMTECH doesn't have an AF pin attached? I think they did away with it recently so how do I adjust focus height without that pin tip that's shown on this video?

Same principle just using the end of the nozzle as the “pin”
