The Kubing is an instrument from the Philippines. Made of bamboo, it is a jaw harp that is used for entertainment and communication.

thank you for the upload! I wish more of the more indigenous histories would flourish again. When people talk about "history" its mostly the Hispanic ones being talked about. and its frustrating that our traditions are being pushed away from relevancy.

it's wonderful that many of japanese rock and metal band incorporate their tradition instrument in their music and it really gives interesting sounds and that's what make it mainstream and gain a lot of fans. i hope that here in the Philippines that local bands of any genre would incorporate playing these traditional instrument on their music and hopefully gain more following and interest so that these traditional instrument wont die or just be in giftshop or museum but would be seen and heard on new sounds and new musicians of this age.

For those who want to buy Kubing, you can visit Quiapo, just beside Excellente, there is a big souvenir shop who sells Kubing only for 55 pesos.. :-)

My grandfather is an Itneg, however I was born and raised here in Mindanao. Nevertheless, I'm find and advocate to the promotion of our cultural heritage. Please continue what you have started. Indigenous people here like B:laan and Tboli also use Kubing. The instrument is quite different from yours in the north.

His Kubing are really beautiful! I own and play many jaw harps, from all around the world. I mostly play metal harps but bamboo and wooden harps are really nice to play. I own two Kubing.

EVERY instrument throughput my home gets used often as intended. A secondary perk is they are very interesting and a beauty for display. This mans creations in the Philippines is BEAUTIFUL WORK and a musicians Tool!!

Wow nice Instrument the Bamboo mouth instrument is like our Tribal Instrument , We say Binayo in Kirati People of Nepal ,Darjeeling Sikkim, This Instrument also used different Tribes Of North East India, And south east Asia .
