COACH CHECKOUT WITH JESSE SHELLEY

Jesse brings something totally new to the team here at Level Up, he does a bit of everything! He is studying a diploma in mental health and when he's not skating he spends his free time playing the drums, guitar, and piano. He also paints, draws, embroiders, and crochets. He's a street skater with really creative style and a lot of fun to watch.
Jesse is 21 from Brisbane. He started riding a skateboard when he was around 15. Skateboarding was the thing that made him happy and he knew that if he wanted to feel good, all he had to do was go out and skate. Although he started skating because his friends were doing it, he was hooked and kept skating after they stopped. When he moved to the Gold Coast 5 years ago, Jesse found a group of friends to skate with. He says having other people to skate with changed his life and he likes being able to share that camaraderie with the next generation of skaters. Jesse has always wanted to have a career that incorporated his passion for skateboarding. When he started coaching, it just clicked for him and he loved it right away. He always has a great time hanging out with kids and loves sharing how much fun skating is. He loves seeing the kids get the same feeling of freedom when they skate and feels it vicariously through them.
