I fell in love with UCLA Basketball and Coach John Wooden after watching them win his first NCAA Basketball Championship in 1964 with Walt Hazzard, Gail Goodrich, etc. He was more than a basketball Coach and was truly a great human being. God bless him.

COACH WOODEN: THIS MAN DEMANDS RESPECT! WHEN COACH WOODEN WAS TOLD HE CANNOT BRING HIS BLACK PLAYERS COACH WOULDNT STAND 4 THAT NONSENSE AND IGNORANCE. COACH WAS A FATHER FIGURE AND MENTOR AND NOT JUST A TEACHER OF LIFE AND NOT JUST BASKETBALL. THE FACT THAT KAREEM AND JAMAAL IS THERE 2 SCHOOL US ON THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS OLD FRAIL WHITEMAN SAYS IT ALL AND IS A TESTAMENT 2 THE MAN COACH WOODEN.

only that Edgar helped Woonden and UCLA win a title in '65 and he played in '66 ( and was very ggod and thn sat out the entire '67 season, only to come back and really be treated like an underclassmen. For Edgar to quit in his senior season, ( WOW ) - Something wasn't right

Edgar Lacey required more one on one counseling. Great athlete accustomed to doing a lot his way. He was tough. Always a place on the basketball team for that.

John Wooden said he hurt him and said he was a fine boy. But just as much as Wooden hurt him, Edgar failed himself when he quit. Edgar only played one season in the ABA. He wanted to pursue a law degree.

I wish this interviewer would ask about Sam Gilbert and his influence on the players and their expenses $$$$. Wooden was No Saint. I believe thats why Gail goodrich never shows up for these talks.
