I said the same thing about the packaging! Honestly! I did a survey for it and I told Coach it was unacceptable that this bag was not sent in the pretty orange box with a bow. The experience needs to go all the way through the process down to the customer. I was so mad too!!!!! I got the maple color and it's just so beautiful! Yours is very pretty too!

The mini bag looks so cute on it. I have the same empire and have used it a lot already. The lining keeps it light and I don’t use an organizer as that adds weight. I just have a pouch to corral small items. I use the strap when I’m carrying other items in my hand and it is much more comfortable that way. I’m also short ,5’1” ,and I’m “fluffy” lol.

@@mauishopgirll I agree. I wouldn’t have wanted the added weight of a full leather lining, but I don’t love the feel of this one. The felt organizer fortunately doesn’t add to much weight. I’m loving mine too and find her super practical. I like the word fluffy. More of us to love, right? 🙃

I was waiting for your opinion on weight after filling it! I used it for travel with a laptop, owala water bottle and my usual essentials (5'2" 150 lbs) and it was SO HEAVY as a crossbody. I hated it and regret buying, but I got the tag customized so it's non-returnable. Sad.

I have 5 kiddos so I’m always carrying #allthethings….so my weight capacity might differ, however, I do feel this bag isn’t the best crossbody. Im sure you’d still get all or most your money back if you had to sell it secondhand on places like Poshmark or Mercari.

You convinced me! 🙃 One question, does your bag have a strong smell of leather to it? Mine has hardly any which really surprised me with a leather bag that big and of this leather quality... I' m a little concerned about that, but then, Coach would not say its full grain leather when its not... By the way I decided on Black as well. Same reason, its a timeless colour! 😊

@@karenkalms-rg9kr you know, it doesn’t have a super strong leather scent to it and that’s what bugs me. I swear all I smell is the lining which is in a fabric I just don’t care for. As a person who intentionally seeks out leather bags, I guess it’s what bugs me a smidge about Coach as well. I know it’s not the best in terms of leather Hyde, however, I love the brand for bringing styles and silhouettes at obtainable prices.

Immediately I fell in love with the Merlot, that burnishing just tickles me in the best way. @@emeraldeity_ well, happy almost birthday to you! I think this will make a wonderful gift. And thank you for your most wonderful comment as well. I too was always on the hunt for something classic like a Birkin or the Row Margaux bag, but nothing ever felt quite right. I did a video on the entire 28 that I was hoping would give me that look, but the smaller styles feel different in texture and look. So as soon as I saw this one, I knew I had to have her. The Merlot color was my first choice at one point because it would have that worn in look right away, but I knew that the black would always feel more classic and timeless and easier to wear year round as I feel the Merlot shade is very distinctly fall/winter IMO. That said, I have zero regrets going for black and although I love the look of the Merlot and the navy, the timelessness of the black wins out for me. If you purchase one, please do let me know what you end up with 🤗

How does this leather compare to the 35?

@@Greatsoprano12 they are both different leather types. The 40 and 48 are full green leather and it was definitely divine. But I would say that the 35 is no slouch. I have a full review on my empire 35 if you want to check that out and I talk a little bit about what made me lean in this direction. The leather feels just as soft and supple a little bit more worn in. And although I would say the full grain leather might be a little bit more resilient, I have seen some updated reviews stating that the full grain is just a sensitive.
