Now I'm off to state regionals. I'm coaching 11 yr olds. Do u have any knowledge around this? I heard they play zone 7 yds back off the line. Only 3 downs so the game is mostly passing.

Edward Telmany so exciting and not at all surprising. Each league is different, but I can imagine that is the case. Likely to be blitzing from 7 yards off the ball and zone. I like cross and slant patterns here to catch them in between zones, as well as the out and up patterns to beat them deep. You likely will want to run from shotgun if they are blitzing - which I have included in my playbook. Also, when you go to regionals/nationals, the speed of the game increases, so make sure your team is ready for a faster paced game and players so they aren’t caught off guard. Coach D, I have ran a similar setup/game plan for several years. Playmaker app is a must for any coach and after the first season is worth the price. Wrist bands are great addition and the kids love them. I have coached K-4th in flag and 3/4th tackle bar using my plays from flag and modifying them as the boys are used to the color schemes and routes. Through these seasons the lowest we placed was second and went two seasons undefeated. Overall a good game plan, tools like this and fun practice has let us be 28-4-2 over this run and winning the championship this year when we converted the team to fall tackle bar. To anyone looking to get a jump start use this method and get his book, otherwise take the tools from here and build your own like I did years ago and run it year over year making slight changes as the players advance. Good work coach sharing your hard work as I am doing the same with younger coaches I am meeting so they can have the same success.

Hi Coach, do you know if you can move the number (on the play card) on the playmaker app to the bottom corner. It gets in the way of some of the play rout arrows when you print for the wristbands.

I don't believe we are able to move the number, but I'll check into it. What size are you printing? I use 5x3 for adult wristbands, and 4 1/2 x 2 1/4 for youth and I've never had that issue. Keep me posted. Thx!

Good stuff coach! Just finished my 2nd season at the 2nd and 3rd grade level with a very good record of 5-1. We are leveling up in the fall to 4th 5th and 6th and I’m going to need all the help I can get as most of my players will be 4th graders. I will be purchasing your complete coach package. We stopped partnering w Playmaker last year, but have our own Play Builder where you can import all my plays and edit, rearrange, and print them out (1 or 4 per page or for wristbands). Hi coach D. Great videos so far from what I've watched. I'm coaching my 11 year olds team this fall. I've played flag in the past, but it was an adults team. Your videos, so far, have given alot of insight on how to work these kids. I had some ideas but from what I've heard from u, kinda solidifies my thought pattern. Now how do I go abouts getting ahold of your plays. I'd like them for a base line and tailor them to our league. (Canadian so based on Canadian football rules), but with some minor tweeking, should work great.

Hey Coach D: When you teach the kids the plays initially, how do you keep them engaged? On my teams, I often find the kids bored with it. I've experimented with only including the key kids (i.e. the kids running fake routes will do some other drill), but its always a tough slog. I like the idea of having them run the plays once they know them.

I build the plays out by turning each component into a drill. So if I’m split back, and we are going to fake to one and hand to the other then I will set up the QB, A and B and have a line of players behind A and a line behind B and all we are working on is the fake handoff and tempo…once they get that I’ll fake to one, hand to the other and switch lines. If there are specific route, then I’ll add C and get a new line calling out a specific play that has a post, or a fly, or quick slant, etc. It’s all about building it out on the field and getting them moving.
