Thanks! Probably not a viral javelin video but certainly good for javelin throwers using the Turbojav or Finnflier.

Glad you are doing rehab on the shoulder. Don’t rush it. Lots of stuff you can do without a javelin 👍🏻

Do I need good strength to trow farther ?
@coachhalleyАй бұрын
It depends on how far you mean. Yes you need good strength but it is much more complicated than just having good strength. It also matters how you use the strength you have. I threw 74 meters when I weighed 155lbs. Not because I had a lot of strength. Efficient technique and athleticism helps a lot.

How do you teach to throw theu the point if they cant see it as tou say any tricks?
@coachhalley3 ай бұрын
Athletes can adjust how they throw by watching the flight of the implement and then making little adjustments. They can also often feel the different pressure put on their body during the throw if they pay close attention. In some cases I have them close their eyes on a standing throw to see if they can feel the type of throw they performed. Here’s a video on controlling the flight of the javelin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omWaYX2Xp56Ff7M

If a child can effectively throw a 600g javelin, is there a reason to not train with the 600g javelin?
@coachhalley5 ай бұрын
I always customize training to the athlete and what we are trying to accomplish. Physical abilities and health, technical skills, where we are in our training cycle and other factors go into my decision to throw a specific weighted javelin. I try to pay attention to the volume and intensity of throws and decide what it is appropriate. When it comes to developing skills, there are limits to how many throws someone can achieve with a 600g vs a Finnflier and still feel physically fresh. Skill acquisition can take time and reps are important but keeping them healthy is also very important. The best advice I got as a new coach was to pay attention, ask questions and make adjustments as needed. Thanks for the question!!

I wonder how many more javelin types there are
@coachhalley6 ай бұрын
There are a lot a variety with design, construction, weight, and purpose. Practice, age group, competition, etc. The competition event will determine the legal requirements. Practice on the other hand, the implement may depend on what you are trying to accomplish.
