Once upon a time I had chapped lips and went to the pharmacy and bought some lip balm . I put some on and went on my way carrying on throughout the day , eventually I had to use the washroom and found a public restroom , when I was done my business I went to wash my hands and when I looked in the mirror I was horrified to see that I had pinkish/purplish/sparkly lips . I mistakenly had bought medicated women's lip gloss with sparkles and walked around in public all day and no one even said a word , I was quite humiliated .

Similar to the vaseline cotton balls, except chap stick is something you might already have in your pocket anyway and the twine can be easily tucked away literally anywhere. Good stuff Dan, another tool in the belt!

I carry a Carmex squeeze tube, because the tube seals. In SW AZ, everything else melts and runs and gets all over. Used it to lube a fishing reel once.

What I do is skip the chapstick and have some cottonballs with Vaseline in a plastic bag. If I need to protect my lips I can get some Vaseline from that.

I would be curious to see you do a video on potassium permanganate. Often touted in survival manuals and many YT videos as a great may to "sterilize" water for drinking. However, I heard from a Physician Assistant that it is quite dangerous to ingest over more than a quart or two over a couple days (heart stopping dangerous) Figured who better to get word out to the community if it is dangerous and to set the record straight than Coalcracker.

One point you KEEP MISSING! Chapstick should be kept in a sandwich (or other plastic bag) Chapstick mwlra at low temp. Which can Really mess up your gear. Long term! I get the type that is in a Small jar, like "blistex" or similar. Seals tighter, less issues! Can't be crushed.
