I used to have a golden that would come to the beach with us every year. I grew up with him as my best friend since I was two and I have so many memories walking down the beach and picking up as many crabs as I could while he would “”play”” with seagulls, crabs, and horseshoe crabs. I see a lot of my old dog in Llew and seeing him is always awesome in these videos :)

Love you guys, you should consider getting a lip mic, all you need to do is hook one up to an iPhone clip it onto Craigs top then hit record, once you're recording clap in front of the camera & near the mic, you can then link the audio from your iPhone and your camera in the edit by viewing the waveforms. It's veeeeeeery easy to do and your sound will be SO much better, trust me. If your phone storage is large enough you may get away with not having to stop start the audio recording as well, as audio files are quite small, just clap every time you're going to do a "PTC" or piece to camera and you can link it up again. Here's a link to a Lapel Mic £10, www.amazon.co.uk/Microphone-Gyvazla-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Smartphones/dp/B0727Q5M3G . If you guys don't want to buy that do a quick patreon or just request we all chip in as you've provided us so much joy and I'm sure we can collectively reach 10 pounds for you. Let me know if you want any more advice. (I work in TV)

This is so fascinating. I've always loved the song Starfish on the Toast by Donovan, one line is "Holding whelks and periwinkles tingling in his hand" and I never knew what it was. OR why Donovan who was Scottish, knew anything about starfish. I thought starfish were in warm tropical waters. Your videos have brought a new understanding to me. There's so many beautiful colors and creatures in your videos. I had NO IDEA these plants and creatures existed! They are so beautiful. Thank you so much!.

I’m taking my two grandchildren children to Wales next month as it’s one of my favourite places in the world. I remember gathering cockles and mussels when I was a child on uk holidays and eating them later that day. I’d love to pick some with my grandchildren but I’m not sure if shellfish is in season (don’t eat shellfish if there is no R in the month) or I would get into any trouble because I don’t have a license. I want to make memories of gathering cockles and mussels, not of me being arrested and carted away 😁 So maybe we’ll stick to just exploring the pools on the beach.
@coastalforagingwithcraigev84475 жыл бұрын
great post Julie, don't worry about being carted away for picking cockles or mussels, you can collect 5kg per day for personal consumption i. e . not to be sold !. You can eat cockles and mussels if there is no "r" in the month. This "rule" was intended to prevent food poisoning many years ago when there was much sewage in estuaries. Our rivers have been cleaned up now with little risk. Make sure you cook them first though.regards Craig

Spotted you at Wisemans Bridge a couple of weeks ago. Going along to the old tunnel. I should have said hello but you were with a group and I didnt want to interrupt. Lovely beach that is. Im tempted to forage for mussels on there but never sure about how safe or not they are regarding contaminants?
@coastalforagingwithcraigev84475 жыл бұрын
Hi Ming, you should have stopped for a chat ! The mussels at that location, tend to be small, there are much better mussels locally. The water quality around most of the UK is class "B", cooking the mussels thoroughly should render any potential bacteria and viral contaminants safe. Kind regards.
@mingthemerciless97185 жыл бұрын
If I see you again I will, you looked like you were doing a foraging tour. Yes the mussels are small there, maybe I need to look further afield. Loved your video of the coal and iron ore deposits on those cliffs. Keep up the good work.
