Michigan's Adventure has been a bucket list park of mine since the mid-2000s, all for Shivering Timbers! In this video, Uncle Nate and I get to finally ride Shivering Timbers but only after McLovin drags us half an hour past the park to ride a random SBF.

@@coolioam8137 I live in Muskegon. I went to Lincoln School in Norton Shores, which was torn down years ago. I also had the unique honor of working for Disney many years ago. Michigan's Adventure (then, Deer Park Funland) was the 5th grade trip park; Cedar Point was the 6th grade trip park. Pretty much every park gets a lot of class trip traffic, even the Disney parks. I get what you're saying, though. Two more good coasters and MA is a destination, not an afterthought.

We still need more food and more staff and more coasters That's funny they went to Wildcat Grill which is literally the most disgusting place to eat in the whole park. At least eat the sloppy joe with mixed veggies at Coasters Diner. The Coasters Diner at Michigan's Adventure is actually much better (!!) than the similar-looking Coasters Diner at Cedar Point. The Michigan one is less corporate and actually has indoor seating and restrooms, and indoor condiments. Best Coasters Diner at Cedar Fair. And better than Juke Box Diner at Kings Island.

@@njm203 Yeah, that's the rub. It's not particularly close to any really big population centers, and it would take a very large investment to make it a destination park like Cedar Point or King's Island, so there's significant risk involved in embarking on journey to invest in a park that's going to at least a decade to begin paying off. Maybe they'll do it one day, but I'm sure it's difficult to justify as a financial calculation.

On the fourth Anniversary of my brother's death, I toast to the coaster he loved the most as a kid (I grew up less than an hour away from the park). We didn't share very many interests, but when it came time to pick a ride a park, we went to all the same ones. I don't ride many anymore, but Michigan's Adventure is still packed full of good childhood memories. Plus almost drowning at the wavepool in the waterpark. I still remember the old wooden coaster when it was FRESH timber. It looks a little older now, but who among us isn't. Ughh the corkscrew was my first ever roller coaster, I rode it while SMT was under construction (and it was painted a really boring white in those days).

2023 park update from a local: Shivering Timbers and Wolverine Wildcat both received some significant track work in the off season. The first valley and camelback on ST is new wood and pothole free! I had the best ride on it ever last week at Timbers Fest. It felt like I was standing up for most of the ride! As everyone knows, Wolverine Wildcat got Titan Track on the first drop last year. But now everything between the first and second turnaround is brand new wood! That section honestly reminds me of Mystic Timbers now. There is actual ejector in the front row and good floater for all. The last lap still runs a bit rough but it's a really good ride now. Right up there with classics like Blue Streak or Racer. I'm not sure who did the track work but it's so good I have to guess Gravity Group. Given the quality of the work and how much other re tracking they have been doing for Cedar Fair in Ohio and Virginia. Side note for the +1 king... Or anyone driving on I-94 on their way to ride Shivering Timbers: Another hamPster wheel opened last summer right across the street from the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport at an FEC called Airway😂

This is my home park. Went here quite a bit and I knew Timbers was good, but my only frames of reference are the other two woodies in the park, Mean Streak, Roar at Six Flags America, and Gwazi, so I haven't really ever ridden another good wooden coaster to compare. Thunderhawk was a childhood favorite of mine, and obviously I didn't know what an SLC was at the time. Never understood the SLC hate because Thunderhawk always gave a pretty decent ride, so it makes sense that it was actually pretty good by SLC standards. It's interesting how there's a lot of rides there that aren't seen as very good/notable ride models (Corkscrew, SLC, Wild Mouse), but it has some of the better versions of those rides. I guess when you don't get a new coaster for 15 years and only have 6 overall, it's probably a little easier to make the ones you do have run well (except Wildcat for some reason).

This is my home park I consider it a good “beginner” park to introduce the feelings of G’s and airtime on the body. If you’ve an conquer Shivering Timbers and Thunderhawk you can pretty much ride anything.

You gotta do a video at Great Escape this summer. That would be insane. You could get hydrated too.

They were there the week before Cedar Fair sent off the damaged train to PTC after a minor human-error-caused collision at the station house. After that, MA has only run one train; until the engineers are done with the full investigation and an ops plan has been approved to avoid this from possibly happening again, it'll be one train ops on Shivering Timbers.

yea i think airtime hills are way more fun than laterals and turns. now i want to kind of go to Michigans Adventure to ride it now! Also i never got why food lines at amusement parks took so damn long!! people get food faster at some sit down restaurants than they do at amusement park food stand lines!

as a Michigander, yes Shivering Timber is by far my fav. The park is really worth it for that and just that for us its the closest, plus the water park, but damn I'm sad that cedar fair cancelled all the plans that had originally been in place for the parks expansion. It could've been so much cooler.

I think theres a kind of.. for lack of a better word..romantic thing that one of the best wooden coaster is set in such a low key out of the way park.

I got nearly concussed and vomited after riding serial thriller at Geagua Lake when I was 11 due to head-bang and refused to ride again. Seeing it still alive gives me the chills. Will ride again though (20 years later.)

Shivering Timbers is like wooden Magnum XL. If you're front car, going over that first hill with nothing but a lap bar, it's terrifying seeing just how high the drop actually is. They say its only 55mph but it feels closer to 65 and the car is going so fast down the hill the whole train literally shakes. Probably the most aptly-named coaster and its a gem.

It is like wooden Magnum XL200, down to the random occasional roughness and headache but it's worth it
