I don’t think they’ll get rid of it cause it’s an icon of the park and some people only go to great adventure to have the chance to ride it. They would also have to get rid of zumanjaro so you would be missing 2 rides. They also just repainted one of the trains so it wouldn’t make sense to do that if u were just to get rid of the ride soon.

What about the ride even gives you headaches and wdym you have to ride it right? All you do is sit on the little seat, get the height adjusted then stand.

As a current SFGA employee, I have heard rumors surrounding the closing of King Da ka. My personal opinion is that it will be removed but not this season or the next. I believe that it will still be here for about 5 more years.

When I rode Kingda Ka a few years ago it was not that pleasant of an experience. It’s pretty fun in the front but in the back it’s just nauseating. I think there’s a reason why amusement/theme parks are going for the more mild coasters now, because they’re enjoyable and you don’t feel so sick after riding them (like Velocicoaster). Kings a Ka is a monumental achievement but in the end it’s a somewhat of a one trick pony. It also goes down a lot which doesn’t help its case for it to be saved. An Intamin launch coaster with more track length from Green Lantern to the area of Kingda Ka would be a lot more fun and would be worth it for rerides.

They got rid of dragster because it ruined the life of a bystander. A bolt hit her in the head and now she lives with permanent brain damage and cedar point got sued for 3 million dollars and was forced to shut the ride down

They were looking to remove or refurbish dragster long before the accident in 2021, the accident was just the final push that got them to pull the trigger on TTD. Cedar Fair has no issue at all with closing rides that are expensive to maintain, even if they're iconic to their respective park. With SFGA being in one of the most densely populated areas in the US, the new Six Flags knows that people will go to the park with or without Ka. If Ka costs more to run than what it makes, they'll scrap it without a second thought. They've closed better rides for less

​@xSneakieXx Clearly you haven't been there when I was there. I attended the saturday of the last weekend before frightfest. The park was barely packed at all. Toro had like 10 or 15 minute waits which is basically walkon. Ka had waits of walkon to 45 minutes. Nitro was 30 to 45 minutes. If this was a busy park the rides would always have at least 2 being over 90 minute wait every single Saturday. The fact is great adventure is in a sad state compared to what it was. Now once flashback opens things might be a little different, but Ka is 100% a major reason why people go even if just to look at. Otherwise I wouldn't even know the park exists. Locals also have hersheypark nearby as well and other parks plus new york. I cannot begin to describe how very NOT busy this park is. The removal of Ka would 100% impact attendance a fair amount. Just that it's a major headache for them. Most employees seem shocked when Ka is actually open. Superman was closed for months due to electrical issues and a missing part. Several rides were closed and standing but not operating including cyborg spin (which looks pretty sick for a flat ride). Green lantern I cam understand since not many enjoy it due to the roughness and ride experience. I'm glad I got to ride both though because ultimately dollars speak. Also bare in mind... formula rossa is no longer operating and is currently dismantled... this ride is the world's tallest and currently fastest operating ride in the world.

The frustrating part is if they moved the ride qeue across the river to where forbidden island was this could have been avoided. Even with the accident the ride qeue could have been redesigned since that bolt was a 1 off freak incident. (The launch cables snapping are not freaking incidents though). They should have taken a note from 6 flags who moved their ride qeue a looong time ago). But the redesign was a good choice... just bad choice of manufacturer and poor implementation.

It's bogus as of now. They would have announced it early to capitalise as much as possible on last rides. Maybe within a few years, but not until the end of next season at the very least. That said we are talking about the same execs who did what they did to Kings Island's Vortex with very little warning so who knows. But if even Wicked Twister got a send off, I'd expect Kingda Ka to get one.

I don’t think that they will remove Kingda Ka yet but they might in a couple years, if they close it this year or next year they’ll probably reimagine it like they did with TTD but removing Green Lantern is probably a good move and putting a brand new B&M coaster to replace it.

If they actually do remove it, I think it’s because of two reasons: 1.) Cedar point built the tallest and fastest coaster in the world, and right after that, six flags built a near clone that was just a little bit taller and faster - thus breaking their record. Cedar point is still bitter about this, and wants to reclaim the throne now that they have control over six flags. Their record is going to be broken (again, by intamin), but at least they can retain their record as the tallest coaster in the Western Hemisphere, or North America, etc. 2.) They are regretting their decision to revamp top thrill dragster because of all the problems it created, and they are afraid to do this again with kingda ka. However, I think it would be incredibly stupid to not find a way to redo kingda ka. I just hope it’s not another swing launch, and they don’t use zamperla again. I bet S&S could do a launch that’s good enough to work, and perhaps more reliable than the current one, though perhaps less powerful than do dodonpa. 🤪
