Can we take a moment to talk about how disrespectful it is the way they describe the victims? Saying things like “her terrified daughter found her mangled body on the tracks” is just unnecessary. The fact that some youtubers deliberately and fraudulently include fake coaster “accidents” in their thumbnails like that, is to me nothing but a complete abomination. I’ve seen these all over my recommended, and I’m getting sick and tired of it. It’s a shame how effective these thumbnails are at getting clicks, taking people to content that not only deceives people, but provides little to no respect to any real person who could have actually been hurt. THANK YOU A LOT for finally addressing all this and proclaiming the truth about ride accidents.

I love this. It's close enough to the old "Debunked" series and the only reason I got to this channel, was because of these. I stayed around, because it simply makes one feel safer, when one watches this kind of videos, rather being informative about how safe roller coasters are and how accidents barely happen and if they do, it is because of certain faults that are quite rare. Went on my first roller coasters this year and was able to not fear them at all, because I've seen these videos. I'd be glad to see this more often

I'm sick of seeing 'creepypasta' AI-generated thumbnails depicting the Byford Dolphin incident with ghastly faces and whatever, as much as coaster enthusiasts hate the clickbait photoshop jobs. I used to work as a ride operator at an amusement park, one actually mentioned in this video (Darien Lake). It was after the accident you mentioned with The Ride of Steel, but well before the second accident that resulted in a fatality on that same ride. That would actually be one to cover. Anyway, I've seen a lot of these rollercoaster accident videos and whether they're AI or not, they all tend to follow a similar format. Most of the accidents I've seen on them (not all) were due to something stupid done by the guests. Yet the video creators would blame the manufacturers, the operators and the park. Rides have restricted areas that are fenced off for a reason, and more times than not even the maintenance workers who are certified to go into those areas do so when the ride isn't in operation. So as tragic as those accidents are, they're also 100% on the people who shouldn't have gone into those areas in the first place. From just my time being a ride operator I could tell you dozens, if not hundreds, of stories of guests being stupid and compromising the safety of their ride while on the ride itself. Lesser common accidents occur when the operator isn't as attentive as he or she should be. I've seen that happen before, but not that often. Then there are issues that do arise where maybe a maintenance check wasn't as thorough as it needed to be, or issues with a ride are reported but not taken seriously. In my opinion those are much more rare but not unheard of. Some smaller, regional parks might not commit as much money to maintenance as they should and the quality of their rides suffer for it. Other accidents are just so bizarre there is no readily available explanation. But those accidents also tend to be extremely rare. Overall, you're generally safer on a rollercoaster or any other ride than you were getting into your vehicle to drive to the amusement park. What bothers me so much about these tragedy videos is not just the facts they get wrong, but that they're profiting off suffering.

I am so cautious of channels anymore. I thought i found another smaller one i liked, only having some minor inaccuracies, until they did a video on the two El Toro incidents. They claimed with the first one, the trail derailed, fish tailed the last car, then when it vallied, that the car was "left hanging off the side of the track" and that the people sustained life threatening injuries. For those who don't know, the last car had **A** wheel assembly derail, which did cause a very rough ride and valleying, the people were mostly physically fine, and you can even google photos of them sitting in the car after it stopped. They're not gorey, they're just sitting there, most likely recovering just from getting the ever loving crap scared out of them. Of course that creator simply ignored people's comments telling them that they were wrong, and then all of their videos started having worse and worse misinformation. Its disgusting to see this pattern of behavior.

@cherylo5265

Potentially, but not in the way you think. Seatbelts that connect into the harness that way have nothing to do with keeping you in the ride. That is not their purpose. What it does is to serve as a visual check for operators. If the seatbelt is unable to be buckled, then you are too large to ride and the harness is not closed properly. If the harness is closed properly, it is not going to open if the rider is within height/weight range for the ride. There are multiple redundancies in those latching systems. But the harness and/or lap bar is the real restraint. In Tyre Sampson’s case, had there been that type of seatbelt, it shouldn’t have been able to buckle because he was too large to ride, which could have prevented him from going on the ride and saved him in that way. But ultimately, it was the park that failed him, not the ride itself. They had modified the restraints to allow larger people to ride against the manufacturer’s specifications. Even if there had been seatbelts, who is to say they wouldn’t have just modified those too, and the same tragic outcome would have ensued? Or something nearly as gruesome, had his full weight landed on that belt. But in general, those seatbelts connected to harnesses are redundant at best, and at worst, nothing but a pacifier for the general public who think they actually do something. Harnesses and lap bars, on riders within the height/weight range for a ride, do not fly open. In fact, they cannot even be opened outside of the loading zone without special tools. If they raise slightly while riding, that is only up to the point of the last “click.” But they will not go any higher than the previous “click“ where they locked. In poor Tyre’s case, it wasn’t properly locked to begin with. What happened to him should have never happened. But it wasn’t a lack of a seatbelt. It was negligence on the park’s part for not strictly adhering to specs for that ride and allowing a young man of his size to ride. Poor kid.

I was at the Blue Bayou park a few days before the accident on Extreme. The day we were there, they were having issues with the unlocking mechanism under the cars. Many times during the day, they had to go under the tracks in the station to unlock one particular car. Why they didn't pull it to the service track and out of service?? I'm guessing it was a busy day and didn't want any down time. Needless to say, we refused to ride in that car and waited for the next one. A day or two later is when the woman fell to her death.

Another thing I’d like to mention about the Orlando Freefall accident is that reportedly, Tyree (I apologize if I spelt that incorrectly) was far above the weight limit to ride the freefall, but from what I’ve heard, when he was declined to ride, his parents had a fit and the operator was forced to let him ride. Pretty funny seeing the video in question here recommended to me, and getting to hit that "Don't recommend channel" button. What you're doing is helping fight misinformation, when misinformation is probably one of our biggest problems worldwide right now. Sure, as someone who has only one local theme park that rarely gets mentioned online, and Disneyland once, I don't run into rollercoasters often, and thus don't fear them even when I hear about tragedies like the ones seen here. But the attitude towards easily digestible "retellings" like in the Echoes video is a really good one to learn-- what do other sources say about the event? What do official sources say, if available? Remember to strip out the fantastical language (you see x y and z terrible things happen, oh my! vs "the rider fell and was injured/killed") and notice when footage is staged, like using film clips, vs people's home videos-- when emotions aren't being purposefully heightened, what actually happened? (Oh wow, that sounds very similar to this series on KZbin I like called "What Really Happened"! What a funny coincidence!) So even if the video you're watching is about some other event, the tactics learned here are important to implement. Thanks for making this :)

This clickbait crap is nothing new to me. The amount of nonsense clickbait videos about Thomas and Friends that claim that “Henry died in the tunnel” is insane. Seriously, to all those who do clickbait crap, make legitimate content and do legitimate research. It’s not that hard.

the henry one is especially funny because it shows they didnt actually watch the episode, at all. that episode about henry was a two-parter, and the second part of that episode would always air/play right after the first, showing henry was completely fine and was let out of the tunnel not much later

Something cool that could be done could be analyzing different amusement park accidents that occur in movies, and discuss how likely or unlikely they are. I know you wouldn’t be able to dive into the amount of info like you do for these, but I just think it’d be cool. Especially if any were based on real incidents

I'm not a rollercoaster fan, however I watch your videos and learn from them They are very well researched and documented. You also make it possible to see documentation itself, where other people just sound like they're pulling 💩 out of their butts. These people rarely if ever sound legit in my opinions. If the thumbnails looks like clickbait, I don't watch the video. Never have, never will. Even if it's legit, your thumbnail and title make it sound like BS to me. Yes people will watch whatever. They usually care more about drama, than substance and facts. The news for example. People don't want to do reasrch, they want to be told what to think and be told what is going on, even if its fake.

To be perfectly honest with you, I'd rather watch "clickbait" like you've shown here than the "real" deal: people who pass their opinions off as fact, to get people to believe that our country is screwed (which it isn't), for example, and whom were most likely influenced by these same things, either that, or they'd just rather be "realistic" than just stick a germanium in their hat and be happy. At least the former is blantant and not even trying to hide it. Plus, you can kind of make out the gist of the incident from the video itself anyways, no pressure at all. And also, they make excellent time-killers when you're bored of all those documentaries and videogames let's-plays. That being said, you've got a strong point with this one. Documents regarding ride accidents aren't all that easy to find due to their tendency to be classified, and thus we can only really make theories on what happened and what could've been done to solve it. All I can really say is get your search engine skills in order, and ensure you're looking for exactly the right search results. Lunaura Dreamer, signing off. ;)

KZbin far needs more critical content like this, and less reactionary BS. It’s the difference between what someone like you does-critiquing other peoples content through a factual lens-and what Sssniperwolf does, which is strictly entertainment. Also, that channel is *definitely* being voiced, and probably written by AI. “The six flags network?” What??

I’m not actually surprised that there are channels that try to clickbait views and engagement like that. While clickbait has existed for decades now and to be honest most channels use at least some sort of clickbait for their content, i do find it annoying when channels like the ones in this video use it. Also i do not think it’s entirely AI based. I have seen and know enough about these types of channels that i can say with about 80% accuracy that it’s not solely AI driven. What this channel (and others like it) do is that there is a individual (or group/company) who runs many different channels. There is usually three ways they make videos. 1. Take videos from other channels and recut them into different videos. (It’s basically reuploading already existing videos in a different order) 2. They use AI to generate the script and then have someone read the script for the voice over. (Which is likely what is happening on the channel in this video) 3. They do the most basic “research” possible. (Usually only a quick google search on “insert video topic here” and then they spend 5-10 minutes reading headlines and the first few links on google. Remember that most of the time these aren’t isolated channels and the people operating them have anywhere from 4-10 channels that they run. It’s the same way things like five minutes crafts makes content. The only difference is that instead of life “hacks” that don’t work it’s misleading/false/incomplete information about topics like science, astronomy, sociology, biology, geography, zoology, history, or in the case of the channel in the video, accidents. This stuff isn’t new.

I agree with you about this. And i see more red flags for this channel where the original video come from. 1. No contact information or description 2. A sub counter with a sub goal on the channel banner. For the last red flag i have seen youtube shorts with this behavior and i think this is part of a user farming scheme to sail of the channel after reach there goal. I can not say this is true but i think this is a good guest for this type of channel

The funny thing with final destination 3 is that the things that happened on the movie made ride could never happen IRL. Also they used a ride in Canada as well as a motion machine to get the shots they needed. I'm a fan of horror movies because of awesome special effects but you have to remember it's all fake

These Photoshoped photos are so obnoxious to see years ago vut it gets worse when people keep using the same images that have been debunked years ago on accidents that don't reflect the incident. The fact that photos like that get so much usage is exhausting to say the least. And as for the AI channels and their view counts.... don't be surprised if those views go beep boop too and are bots.

What do you think of the channel Infamous Accidents? I think it's an A.I. channel as well but still enjoy listening to the stories - I've been watching ElToroRyan and your channel enough to usually know that it's just about enough correct information to still be worthwile. I think there's still people behind these channels doing some kind of work even if it's fiddling with the A.I. models... There's been some channels where the stories aren't coherent and the visuals don't match up at all (same with Police activity channels...). This one you presented here didn't seem too bad either. (aside from the mostly bad info...)

My best guess about getting the information about the ride of steel accident wrong is that he was confusing the accident at darrion lake with the accident at New England. The rider on the New England accident could only have his seatbelt secured in the front row and was ejected on the final turn before the break run.
