Man SEPTA has some awesome equipment. I love the look of the Silverliner V's. I think most (if not all) of the AEM-7s have been replaced by Siemens ACS-64 units on SEPTA's Push-Pull sets at this point.

Oh wow, did this bring back so many memories! I grew up outside Philadelphia, right off the R5 - now called the Paoli/Thorndale Line - and spent countless hours watching SEPTA trains go by. And I saw Bryn Mawr Station in a few spots too! My grandmother operated a travel agency (remember those?) in Bryn Mawr maybe 2-3 blocks up from the station when I was a little kid, andhe used to take me down to the platform at the end of the day and we'd watch the westbound (I think?) Broadway Limited come speeding through the station right around 5:15 in the evening.

@@tyityiwalker they do have a refurbished Loco in service. I seen the pics of it, looks good. I think they took some of our spare parts inventory. There's video of when our units went to the scrap yard. Not sure of thier fate but most likely cut up. There was one transformer that was removed and scrapped separately.
@danielmurphy11004 жыл бұрын
The "newer-looking" commuter train in the video are the old Market-Frankford Line subway cars. You can tell that those cars were designed to pull into a platform station with the floor of the car even with the platform. Pause the video at 00:19 and look at how high the double doors are off the ground, Subway car masquerading as a commuter car
@jamesh71674 жыл бұрын
Daniel Murphy they’re actually not.. those are Hyundai Rotem Silverliner V cars, went into service around 2010. They’re very nice, with automated announcements and high res displays inside. They have the high level doors with trap doors to accommodate a bunch of the low level septa platforms. The Budd M3 “Almond Joy” cars that were on the Market-Frankford Line were all scrapped.
@danielmurphy11004 жыл бұрын
@@jamesh7167 Well, not saying that you're incorrect, but they look and sound like the Market Frankfort Line cars I used to ride prior to 2011.
@emperorpalpatine25314 жыл бұрын
@@danielmurphy1100 you’re partially right. Hyundai Rotem mainly makes subway cars and they do look like the ones on the blue line. When septa was looking to buy newer cars and start retiring the old silver liners, they bought these from a company that hasn’t made heavy rail equipment. This caused a lot of problems as the cars were not fit for the different environment. They started breaking down and cracking. By this point the SVs made up 1/3 of the fleet and septa had suspend and repair all of them. Aka, septageddon

CT rail started on June 16th, 2018 with the Hartford Line and quickly after absorbed the Shore Line East service. I suggest you make the Video when CT rail upgrades it's rolling stock. The CT rail Shore Line East is expecting to get Kawasaki M8 EMUs for expansion into New York City. CT rail is expecting to purchase either SC-44 or SC-42 for the Hartford Line and CT rail is repainting their Amtrak and New Jersey Transit P40DC Locomotives into the CT rail Paint Scheme. I am going to ask CT rail if they can repaint their Mafersa Coaches from having the New Haven and Connecticut Commuter Rail logos into the new CT rail Logo.

@TheBestTrainsAreReal3 жыл бұрын
Pre covid they ran frequently. They don't even made up 15% of Septa's equipment roster so that's why it seems like they run less. Currently the ACS-64's aren't running due to voltage issues on the Reading side of the System.
