I remember when I rode Maverick for the 1st time. I had no idea how exciting it was going to be. For starters I thought it was a family coaster, second I didn't watch any videos about it prior to getting on, and third was it was at night. It was a total awesome experience. How cool would it be if Cedar Point does a backwards seat on Maverick.
@shamrock6975

probably too intense because on maverick you kinda have to brace for the turns

I have a similar story! First time at CP was on a windy, rainy night at Halloweekends. My friend and I got on Maverick, expecting something intense but not ridiculous. Obviously, we were shocked getting off the ride. 😂

This was the first coaster I have ever done and it was mental. I live near Brisbane so it wasn't that far of a drive for me. But I remember we (me and my mate) were in the middle row and he had done the ride before, and me and him hate the ascent be we both love that drop and I remember just being yanked forward and my face was in the pull down thing. And my favourite bit about the ride was that pull down thing, it went to your waist and so you thought especially on the drop that you were just gonna get thrown out of your seat. Loved movie world hopefully when I go for school at the end of the year it won't be nearly as crowded.

Don't you just love a park that gets you so excited on the drive in? Reminds me of how, simply seeing billboard ad signs on the way to any park or tourist attraction made me feel when I was a kid. Such a wonderful feeling! 😃

I so wish Dollywood would put an I305-esq giga off a mountain. But since that probably won't happen, a Mack hyper similar to this would totally be my 2nd choice for their next big coaster! 🤞

I was waiting for your review guys and here it is! Since Movie World has been my home park for a few years now, I absolutely agree with the moments within the layout you just pointed out. That helix feels lame, and surprisingly slow! However, it works as a little moment to take a breath for what you just experienced lol This is an excellent coaster and I still remember my first time riding it back in 2018 as it was yesterday, all shaky, huge adrenaline rush. The backwards seat is not for everyone, such an intense ride but definitely worth it. I'm glad you guys had the chance to come an experience it :) love your work guys! :D

Ridden this ride 10+ times, backswards 2 times, absolutely legendary, but as a local to these parks, I dream of visiting the USA and going to cedar point, and all those six flags parks, my dream rides are maverick, velocier coaster, king da ka, top thrill 2 and obviously, steel vengeance. For those wondering, yes everything he said in this video is true. Everything is absolutely amazing except the middle corners. As someone yet to experience many of the top coasters, this is a solid 9/10 for me. Backseat obviously 11/10.

Loved my time on this epic rollercoaster! I was very lucky at the end of my day. Managed to get the final ride on the backwards seat. Once we returned to the station, 1 guy was in line… So I asked if we could jump back on. We then got the front row! Two runs at it was heaps of fun! Sadly going to America or Europe is big money… But to have DC rivals do close to me with so many elements that other coasters have, it’s awesome! The park has done well to compete with other coasters around the world 👍

Love this coaster and so grateful to have it grace our shores. Pretty fair review. Yeah I agree that sometimes it feels like it's long for the sake of being long. Not that the helix and other slower bits are awful, it's just in comparison to the rest of the ride I could see how one would think it's kinda meh. The backwards seat is life changing. Absolutely amazing experience.

I live in Australia and I think this is a good review. Although I never had a problem with the rides pacing because on the days I went it was running fast and it was hot, the helix was forceful and taken Quickly and the transitions were powerful. The ride looked like it was running slow in the footage you showed especially through the helix so if you ever make it back give the ride another chance and Superman:) The backwards seats are just downright mayhem and this ride has a really imposing presence throughout the park and the area, it just towers over everything for miles around. I also think that the backwards seats are actually kind of nerve racking aswell and especially going up the lift hill and the drop aswell as the non inverted loop. Also, where would you rank the regular seats and the backwards seats respectively in your top 100?

To anyone who wants to go on this but is scared of the drop or just rollercoasters in general; This ride is very low ranking scare-wise. Really the only scary bit is the ride to the top, since it's a bit slow. I'm a person who does get a bit frightened when a ride has a huge drop, I always chicken out at the last minute. I sucked it up and went on the ride (mainly due to the amount of time I waited in line) and let me tell you I barely felt that drop at the start. Yes, I felt like I was falling a little but it was no where near as scary as I thought. I think it's the seats and safety harness stopped that feeling, since they push the harness down a lot. The ride is also incredibly short when you're riding it. I timed it when I went the first time and it was 1.5 minutes. The 0.5 is just the ride to the top. The main thing I loved about this ride is the wave bit at the end. You get this sort of feeling like you're lifting off your seat due to the speed but it is honestly the best section in my opinion. The ride is also insanely smooth so it really just feels like you're gliding on air.

Yeah I think this review is pretty fair. The backwards seat is just absurd, but from the footage it looked like it was running a little slow, personally I never had a problem with the helix. If it was a bit hotter like when I visited the helix is a lot better paced and very forceful and the transitions are more powerful as well. Great review, if you ever come back, give it another shot and super man as well:) Also, I agree with the presence that this ride has, and doing it backwards for the first time is pure intimidation, especially the lift hill drop and non inverted loop:)

If you think about it this roller coaster is very similar to kondaa, like extremely similar. They both start with a drop that turns to the right, they both have almost the same height and speed. They both then have a large airtime hill. They both have a non inverting version of an element that normally inverts. They both have a few snappy turns midway through the ride, they both end with a few bunny hills.

Once waited 2 hours to go on this ride. They only have one cart which means you have to wait for the other riders to finish, which is understandable but is quite annoying when it's a hot day. They also have mist fans in the queueing section which surprised me at first. I'll also say I would've only waited around 1.5 hours but the ride broke down due to maintenance but my friends didn't want to lose their spot in the queue so we waited. Luckily some people brought a blow up ball so it kept the people entertained for a while. Was it worth the 2 hour wait? Definitely not. Was it the best coaster in the park? Yes. Would I recommend it? Absolutely yes. Also hot tip, if you don't want to wait in the queue for a long amount of time like I did, just go in the single riders line. You wont be seated next to your friends but it will save you so much time. There's always a single seat on every run so you'll be able to get on the ride quickly.

I will always maintain it’s not the best roller coaster at Movie World. Superman is wayyy more fun, and even Scooby Doo (before the last refurb) has a lot going for it. Both of those are more heavily themed experiences though I guess. Rivals is great and intense, but I’ve definitely not got all the hype a lot of foreigners seem to give it. I don’t care much for the first drop, but I absolutely love the non inverting loop and the bunny hills and whatnot. I can’t say I’ve really noticed the helix slowing it down too much either - though by the time it gets to the Helix I’d be ready for it to slow down a bit 😂

I think this is on the same boat as millennium force, it's overrated, that it ends up being underrated. It's not a top 5 coaster but it is elite, and also an amazing coaster. But I can't judge without riding it. And honestly, I don't care a lot about forceless elements, I recently got to bgt and I somehow prefer Sheikra over montu despite having forceless turns. In fact, I actually enjoyed cobra's curse, maybe because I still get a feeling in my stomach and nuts in drop that may not have airtime at all, so I still have to leave my GP phase 😂

@@Aerolandaircraft Superman is the hidden gem because of DC Rivals. It's a shame Taylor and Sarah missed out on it as I think they would have been blown away by it. It's personally my favourite at Movieworld, but that's my zero coaster for making me an enthusiast. Leviathan is my favourite though. Proper wooden coasters are a dying breed, so i have much respect for that ride. Sorry about the £ thingy. We don’t use dollars here in the UK so it’s difficult for me to get how much they are without conversions.

You can't convince me a non-inverting loop isn't in fact, 2 inversions haha. I mean just look at 1:36 You are 100% upside down at that moment. And then you roll over 180 degrees again @ 1:37. That's totally upside down.
@AMCustomCoasters

Agreed ive always felt like theres a few elements that arent considered inversions bc its so short or not entirely 180 degrees that you are definitely inverted for. I dont understand how overbanks that approach like 150 degrees arent considered inverted. You're still looking at the ground when going through it lol

Trust me, you don't go upside down. It turns *right* before you would've done.

@@ThemeParkOgre I've been on this element before at Universal Studios. You totally go upside down. You're head is almost pointing directly at the ground (maybe only off by 20-30 degrees) before you start rotating around at the top. I mean it has 2 barrel rolls, by their very nature that's 2 - 180 degree rolls. That's an inversion. It's just a marketing gimmick so they can say they have a unique element. That's all it is.

@@jonny-b4954 Completely different ride (and manufacturer) to Rip, Ride, Rockit. I can't speak for that rides non inverting loop, but for DC Rivals you definitely don't. It's my home park, and I've seen and ridden this thing hundreds of times. I know what it can and can't do. I don't blame you for thinking that way though, as yes, it's extremely close to a real inversion.

@@ThemeParkOgre I've done them on Tigris too, the SkyRocket 2's. They all feel the same, I'd assume this one does too. Still, the fact you're rolling, twice, makes it an inversion to me. It's just an elongated barrel roll essentially, just on top of a loop. I can wrap my head around overbanks and Stengel dives maybe not being inversions, your banking more than flipping. Are more so on your side than you back. But you're totally upside down at parts on this, back to the ground. We can agree to disagree though. They'll always be disagreements in classifying coasters.

I love coasters, but waiting is kinda a waste anymore at my age. And, I refuse to pay more than 50$ to enter a park, nor pay more than 15$ to park or 25$ to eat.
