Thank you for giving this coaster the credit it deserves. It's a fantastic coaster, even when you set aside its history. It's not the best RMC but some enthusiasts talk about it like it's a family coaster or that it's weak. RMC has no mediocre coasters. They don't even have any "just good" coasters. It's a really great coaster. I love the drop and the wave turn (if it counts as a wave turn) and it has really good airtime. For me it's in the bottom third of RMCs but that's like saying that a certain car is in the bottom tier of Ferraris.

​@Patrick Cadiz Yeah I'd consider it mid-low tier. It's solid, long, great first drop and good/great air... but as the original, the formula has been improved. The sluggish 3rd lap is greatly assisted by tunnels, however, and the Gerstlauer trains are kind of preferable to RMC trains with those crazy-weighted lap bars. As a side note, it's actually crazy the disparity between NTAG and SV given they started as very similar.

Funny story: When I was a wee lad, I went to six flags Over Texas for a friends birthday party. My friend tapped out quickly after we rode the pirate ship and he bumped his head. I stayed with his mother, who was this old texan lady and she asked if I wanted to ride Judge Roy Scream. I asked her about it and she said, and I will never forget this, "it's like a kiddie version of Texas Giant (this was before the RMC conversion I think). So in my mind, I thought it would be a kiddie coaster like the one in bugs' boom town. I said sure and we made our way to the station. Don't ask me how I didn't realize that it wasn't a kiddie coaster until we got on the lift hill. I saw that hill when the train turned, and my heart sank. Now, JRS isn't that tall, it barely scratches 70 inches, but to a little 4 or 5 year old, it was the scariest lift hill ever. It didn't help that it was wooden, and popular culture had made me think all woodies were broken down piles of rotting timber. So as I crested the lift hill, I did what every little child does when they're scared and I screamed. Oh how I screamed. I'm pretty sure you could hear my scream from Shock Wave. And my friends mother, what did she do? She. Laughed. The entire ride, as I screamed, she laughed at my tourture. When we hit the brake run, I was panting from screaming and she was holding her sides laughing. Later in life, I would re ride JRS after becoming a "makeshift enthusiast" (because I've only visited three parks in my life.) and realized it wasn't all that scary. But oh, how I will never forget my first big boy coaster.

I had a similar experience for my first big boy coaster. I was like 5 or something and my family took a trip to Hershey park. I was barely tall enough to go on the comet, sooper dooper looper, and trailblazer. I didn’t know what any of those were of course. So my dad points at this one ride and says “wanna go on that?” He pointed at the turn going into the station of the comet and there was this structure around it so I didn’t really know what it was. But for some reason I thought it was a merry go round (I guess cuz it was a round structure). So I said “sure”. When I got in the station I was so confused that this merry go round looked so odd. Then when we started up the lit hill I realized what was happening, I was terrified and I blocked the first half of that ride out from my memory. The comet isn’t really that big either but I had never been on a ride over 30 feet. However, I do remember really enjoying that ride by the end. I went on it like three more times that day and I loved it. Never been back to Hershey since though. That was before sky rush and Fahrenheit were even in the park. Storm runner was pretty new at the time, I thought it was insane that a coaster could pick up speed from a launch instead of a lift hill. Some memories just tend to stick with you.

I rode this thing in 2011 when it opened, then rode it again this year just last month. I swear it hasn’t aged a day. The bumps between the pieces of track might be just a tad more noticeable but it’s extremely slight.

This ride is great, especially in the back. One thing that annoys me though is how I always get stapled. I’ve ridden it over 20 times and every single time I’ve gotten stapled. Earlier today I was on the ride and one ride op came up and stapled me, then a second came and stapled me even more, so much so that my leg was numb at the end of the ride. I wish the employees didn’t staple, as it would improve the ride experience, but I do understand that the coaster has already had one accident and they need to be careful.

I just rode this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it completely exceeded my expectations! I was expecting for it to be a good ride but it became one of my favorite coasters ever. It doesn’t need to go upside down. Honestly the reason I love rmc coasters is because of the airtime not the inversions.

I love this ride, it's my number one, and I've ridden 51, it's even higher than El Toro, and Twisted Colossus for me. When I was sitting on the break run, I was speechless, literally I have photos of it. It's the only ride ever to have done that for me. I think it's pretty dumb that people bash on this ride cause it doesn't have inversions, it doesn't have many really good airtime moments and all that, but I think this ride is pretty much perfect.

You know, NTG is basically SV’s older sister. Before RMC touched both of these woodies, they were both manufactured by Dinn, with very similar layouts. SV is essentially NTG on steroids (with inversions)!

Actually, ever since the ride reopened after the accident the block brakes do actually trim the speed of the trains. It is very subtle but those of us that have ridden the ride before and after the accident can feel the difference. The ride runs about ten percent slower with also about ten percent less airtime on the second half of the ride now. Next time you ride it listen carefully as you pass through the block brakes and you can hear the brakes engage.

My opinions changed for NTG. So the first half is fun until the break run. I was riding on a winter night so I don't know if it had an effect on it, but the second half was just boring and slow. It may be the most "simple" but I always thought it looked like one of the better ones, at the least it's gotta be in the top half. Looks full of airtime, its long (unlike a few of the others) and good layout, (cant tell the pacing from POVs). I was so bummed I had to cancel my epic TX trip this year, this was one of the rides I was most looking forward to :(

That Texas trip in October was epic; CoasterStudios is responsible for me going 4 hours out of the way to ride Boardwalk bullet, and well worth it as it’s the best coaster in Texas IMO

The reason why the RMC is shorter than the original is because wooden rollercoasters use steel wheels, which have less friction, while RMCs use Polyeurathane wheels.
