I'm interested to see where you got that 9 seconds stat from because if that was true and you weren't included air resistance (fall at constant acceloration), that would mean the building is 397 meters tall but google says it's 828 so I don't know how they got 9 seconds. Maybe they don't mean from the very top.

Dang. On my Dubai trip earlier this month I even went into the Dubai Mall and I completely forgot a roller coaster was even there.I completely forgot it was even there ngl, I did know about the parks former name as SEGA Republic and how its spinning coaster once had a pretty impressive Sonic the Hedgehog theme but the retheme of the park and coaster just never really registered much in my mind. We didnt end up seeing much of the mall either, we're not exactly mall lovers in my family. Though we did see the waterfall at 9:08 cause my mom wanted to see what the sign for a waterfall meant. My family and I elected not to go to the top of the Burj Khalifa, just because we were on a budget and didnt mind not being that high up. But also I doubt Dubai will keep growing at the pace it did in the past. Even just in the last 10 years construction and growth has kinda been in a slump. The demand for high end luxury tourism investment and these grandiose megaprojects are drying up. The Palm Jumeirah has been a success but both the World Islands and the larger Palm Jeddah have been massive failures. Not to mention all the canned theme park projects in the region as well. And even besides that, other countries in the region, namely Qatar and especially Saudi Arabia have been trying to take the dwindling number of fish in the pond with their own mega projects, despite the failures seen in the UAE. It all just seems unsustainable, both economically and environmentally. Plus demand is even lower because of the relatively lower human rights in these countries compared to other destinations. I know for example many people are upset at the new Dragon Ball theme park in Saudi Arabia because many Dragon Ball fans are Gay or trans people, or allies of such people, and therefore risk serious criminal prosecution or even death just from entering the country.

@@drdewott9154 ok maybe it was since it was a summary but you still went from "My family and I elected not to go to the top of the Burj Khalifa, just because we were on a budget and didnt mind not being that high up" (just a ordinary trip report) to "I doubt Dubai will keep growing at the pace it did in the past. Even just in the last 10 years construction and growth has kinda been in a slump." (suddenly delving into the decline of dubai's market) no exageration, literally seperated by a paragraph split. Clearly a big change of subject here that didn't make sense so I labeled it as being mad.

@drdewott91548 ай бұрын
Eh IDK. Ive seen nicer and cleaner. The place didnt really feel that inviting when I went there earlier this month. Some attractions were neat but also very expensive. It really felt like a one and done kinda destination imo. Plus I dont really simp for excessive wealth and mansions. Especially when there's no good daily ammenities nearby and every trip out of the house becomes a chore, as is mostly the case there with the poor walkability and subpar public transit and bike infrastructure.

@drdewott91548 ай бұрын
@@strictlyaesthetic9202 IDK I come from a city about half the size of Dubai with many more rail lines, 4 of which are automated and run every 2-3 minutes each. Plus having a better enrwork allowing you to reach anywhere, not just some places. Several attractions are inaccessible by the metro and tram too! And though my home city isn't as clean, I've seen places like Riga, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Nice, and many other European cities that are at the very least as clean as Dubai, whole being much better for quality of life and ease of getting around. Plus I can assure for a fact from what I've been sent from friends that Vienna in Austria, basically all of Switzerland, as well as Tokyo and Osaka in Japan also all beat Dubai by a landslide. I wouldn't be surprised if the same applies to several Chinese cities, given what I've seen of them on off hand accounts.
