Amazing video as always Taylor! IOA is definitely my favorite park I've ever been to. Such an incredible variety of experiences, theming and nostalgia. The only thing I didnt agree with you on was the toon lagoon portion. In my opinion, Disney is such a generational mainstay because of their willingness to stick with old school, time tested properties and keeping them updated and refreshed throughout the years. Dont get me wrong I'm definitely not trying to compare the popularity of a Blondie to a Peter Pan, but you can bet that my grandparents would absolutely light up seeing familiar faces like Popeye and Betty Boop in a park of otherwise current characters. Keep up the great videos dude!

Hmmmm, three years later and Disney is getting rid of Splash Mountain, the most iconic ride of all time in the most iconic theme park of all time. And they’ll probably get rid of Frontierland altogether. They’ve ruined the whole experience with Genie plus, and they rely way too heavily on existing IPs. Disney has all those problems and Universal is about to open Epic Universe next year. Crazy to see what can change in three years. Or maybe you hold this opinion despite these changes? Idk which changes took place and which didn’t since then. But if that’s the case, I disagree with this comment.

I’ve been going to the universal parks every summer since I was 5. Im 23 now and I still have the same feeling of excitement every time I go. Islands of adventure has a special place in my heart. The Hulk is an incredible ride. Velocicoaster is a spectacular addition. The wet rides are top tier and I just really love every section and ride at the park. If anyone is on the fence about going to islands of adventure you have to go!!!
@mikefarristhegamebunny3 жыл бұрын
Islands Of Adventure combines Disney’s high tech theming with Busch Garden’s thrills. It also has more ride variety compared to Studios. However due to my size there’s not as much for me to do because I can’t fit on many rides. I get done with this park pretty quickly because of this. I end up spending more time in Studios. I view both parks as one instead of 2. That gives me a full day’s worth.

I think IOA is still my favourite theme park in the world. I've yet to visit with Hagrid's available (or velocicoaster of course) but even before them it was stunning. The themed areas, the simplistic rides like Dr Doom/Storm Force, the laughably sadistic water rides, the excellent simulator rides that add to the lineup, rather than being almost the entire lineup as it is with Universal next door. I like the atmosphere, I've even quite liked the food I had there. That said I do miss the dragons, the enchanted oak and the old evening fireworks show. The first two arguably have suitable replacements now, but I feel like IOA is deserving of its own evening show of some kind.

So much good stuff in this park. I always make sure I get out to Islands of Adventure even if I'm staying on Disney property. This is one theme park that truly has something for everyone, from intense coasters to family attractions. Also glad to hear praise for the Cat in the Hat ride. It's an underrated gem, being a near-straight reading of the classic Dr. Seuss book. I think I might prefer the comic book approach to Marvel Superhero Island. The aesthetic of all of the theming is really cool, I grew up buying and reading back issue comic books and it felt like you were walking straight into a panel of a 90's Marvel book. It transitions to Toon Lagoon pretty well stylistically. Your point about Toon Lagoon is interesting, I'm not sure how old you are but in the late 90's everything was marketed with baby boomer nostalgia so in a three year period there were live action versions of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, and Josie and the Pussycats. They were all huge box office flops (although Josie and the Pussycats has gained a cult status) and completely faded from memory so Toon Lagoon seems like a weird relic of that failed microtrend.

I am Dutch but I really hope to visit this park one day! I am having a thought and I am wondering what you think: I like the fact that they still have their comic style theming of Marvel. People talk about the Marvel movies instead of the Marvel comics, but it doesn't mean that the comics are not relevant anymore. I think the foundation of Marvel is the comics. As a person who is really into movies, I think the movies are basically spectaculair blockbusters but lack of any interesting and creative filmmaking and storytelling. Ofcourse, parks need to innovate, and Universal wants to be ahead of its time. But I also think sometimes a theme has the power to teach a younger generation about history. That's why, for example, I think it's a pity that Disney in Paris changed their Space Mountain from the Jules Verne story to Star Wars (I do like Star Wars though) because I would love to see these old stories full of poetry staying alive.

This park is excellent. I personally find the Marvel Superhero Island to be underwhelming and I really like Toon Lagoon, but I'm a fan of old cartoons so I get that I'm not typical. Seuss Landing was probably one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever experienced the first time I went there. I thought it would be a cheap phoned in kids area but it's really cool. And the High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train is actually a fantastic ride. But Hogsmeade is clearly the winner. There are few theme park lands on that level.

Who else wants IOA to get a themed area themed to Avatar the Last Airbender? Yes, it's a show that ended 13 years ago but when it came to Netflix last year it became a lot more relevant and they did launch Avatar Studios which will have more Avatar content. But with the area, I can imagine a Vekoka Launched Flying Coaster themed to Air Gliders and a dark ride where you can bend elements.

Not only can they fit Dueling Dragons into the park, they can put it right over and through Lost Continent. I made a map of this. Basically, the Fire side goes over and through buildings and tunnels around Lost Continent while the Ice side interacts around Hogsmeade, even blasting itself through one of the roofs of one of the buildings. The dueling loops have to be separated by a pedestal to prevent the 2014 incident from happening again, but Universal can definitely theme that pedestal and have the dueling loops be on the water as another symbolic gateway on the lake in front of the land. And since Universal is willing to go big, I would make both coasters have at least 6-7 inversions each, fire effects for the red, and mist effects for the blue. Having mist effects over pathways would be great to help people cool down in the Florida heat.

About the locker: FLY in Phantasialand has the best lockersystem imo; you have all your stuff the entire queue, but just before the station you have to put everything in a (free) locker. This does not affect throughput though, they leave enough people at once in the lockers and after those you have to wait like 2 minutes before the ride. Great system which guarantees the best pictures of FLY during queueing.
@ariannay3053 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard some rumors velocicoaster is going to do the same thing that you’ll have it throughout the queue, then right before you board you put it in a locker, and when you get off the ride the lockers are double sided so you’ll be able to get your stuff on the other side without mixing with the people in the queue waiting to ride!

I have a similar feeling about Universal Islands of Adventure, it was amazing getting to ride Dueling Dragons and Incredible hulk definitely made an impact on me as a kid. I'm looking forward to going back and riding HMCMA and Velosicoaster.
