Just got back from Costa Rica. One morning a Coatimundi walked past our hotel patio. Anxious to get a picture and better view, I followed him and discovered another one very close. However, I learned from watching your videos that they can be aggressive and dangerous. With that in mind, I kept my distance and took several pictures and a few videos. Thank you for the EDUCATION! Prime example of why I don’t like humans. I love animals. I do not like 85% of the people I come in contact with. I agree with you Nicole. It doesn’t matter what animal or what reason a human maybe raising an animal. They all deserve to be treated the way I would assume the inhumane person wants to be treated. People that hurt animals will most hurt other humans. Thank you Chris and gabby for everything y’all do that you share with us and the stuff that yall don’t share!!! I am just wondering how you're going to keep all the leaves out of those alligator ponds. It seems like there's always so many of them and obviously when the alligators are in there you're not going to be able to do as thorough cleaning. At least it doesn't seem like it. I wish you could bring Casper over to your property so you don't need to drive 6-12 hours back and forth every weekend. Yes, I know he isn't yours and that he belongs to Everglades Sanctuary. But now we can probably experience you working with a new gator and showing us all the progress being made with him. I suspect in a lot of cases you get surrenders because they realize that they can't give them their best lives, and they want better for a beloved pet. You see that a lot with baby monkeys (I'm mildly obsessed with VMF). People eventually realize they aren't good pets and need to be with their own kind. I think the social structure and complication with praire dogs is similar to with smaller primates too, and keeping them with their conspecifics provides a lot of emotional and mental health benefits.
