I use a coax stripping tool that has stepped blades for the sheath, shield and dielectric. You can rotate the die for different types of coax. James, I'd invest in a Stanley knife or scalpel before you slice a finger with that folding knife! Thanks for doing the video. It is good to see how those scissors are used. 👍

I've got one of those stripper tools for 75 ohm coax (bought for the QO-100 setup) but it's the wrong diameter for the 50 ohm coax types that I use.

Hi James…. Interestingly expensive pair of scissors! To be honest though cleaver tools are the way to go and you only need one for each type of cable you use… They wouldn’t be much more expensive than those scissors either and they cleave all layers to the correct length… For example fitting an N-type to LMR400 takes just a few minutes from start to finish.. I’ll do a video!! 😊

for the expensive coax and thick stuff, those scissors are excellent. How ever my soldering is utterly crap, i've given up making cables, i just buy them in now.

I recently purchased these (Jan 2024). The loops in the handles are a tad smaller than I would like to normally use in a pair of scissors. As I use Hyperflex 13, you have to put a lot of pressure on them to cut the cable, they don't buckle and they they cut with a very good clean edge. Great for trimming the braid. I have not tried them on anything thinner than 13mm cable, but i expect the cutting edge would be as just as good. These are now my go to tool for coax cutting

You’ve convinced me, I am finally going to get a pair after thinking about it for ages.

It wasn't meant to be a sales pitch, but looking back at the video it did sound like one! If you regularly make up coax cables it does make life easier in my opinion.

I’ve seen these coax scissors used before but I’ve never been tempted. I might be now though as they look like they help do a nice tidy job. For RG58 I have a coax stripper that’s excellent for fitting BNC connectors. 73 Chris M0RSF

It wasn't supposed to be a sales pitch but I think there's probably a few people who may buy a pair after this video. Maybe I should be asking MLS for commission! To be fair, it does the job much easier.

Never mind the scissors, what we really want are some spanners that fit the connectors, I don't like using adjustable and the connectors appear to be an odd size.

I hadn't noticed that!

Was sceptical at first, but for £20 looks likes it worth the money

Exactly my thoughts.

I have a pair of them and if youre like me who takes chunks out their hands using duff tools, then theyre a worthy part of the tool kit.
