Good job! Thanks for showing the importance of having a plan and working through it, and the value of being on the lookout for unusual problems, like hidden unplugged wires, when you can tell that somebody else has been under the hood messing around with stuff and not putting all the parts back in place, like a real mechanic would. I liked the way you used your own wires to directly connect both grounds and battery power to establish continuity and test the circuits. You can also establish ground continuity at the fuse box by identifying the ground side of a fuse and testing it for continuity to the negative terminal of the battery - that can be a quick way to test the ground continuity and/or resistance in the entire circuit you are checking out. If you have a Power Probe, the probe will identify and test both power and ground circuits, and has a 10 amp circuit breaker built into it so you don’t fry something by accident. However, your way seems to work just fine. Thanks for this video - I have a similar problem with a 2010 Equinox, and appreciate the tips you shared with us.

This same problem happen to me shortly after I brought my Cobalt back from the dealers for replacing my ignition key recall. I remember a job years ago when the owner disconnected the power to the power steering. The steering wheel jerked about from side to side uncontrollably. I tock the motor off and disassembled the unit. The motor brushes were worn and the copper graphite brush material coated the commutator. I cleaned the conductive dust totally from the commutator and replaced the brushes with ones from another dead motor. Put it all together and connected the motor to mount and electric plugs. Reconnected the power and fixed the wire connection including a new fuse. Drove the vehicle with no effort turning. Thanks for bringing back good memories of an easy fix and experience put in place into memory. Good day and peace too. VF

Update from last comment: my car is acting even more wird now was fixed for a while replaced power steering motor was fine for a while then it started doing that weird stuff again i started looking and chasing every wire i could think of every fuse everything. Idk what more to do. Every time i start the car it idles fine and i have power steering but the steering is weird it will turn but at random spots it will like lockup and require more force to get past that spot then once you start driving like 15 seconds down the road the power steering will completly cut out and thats when the power steering light comes on.

Just found this out today after taking it to a shop because my gf curbed the Cobalt. Had struts and shocks done all the way around, new stabilizer bar linkage and computer alignment. I got ntoice from the tech working on it that I was getting a "No communication" from the PCM. Once the alignment was done the steering wheel was about 12 degrees off center and it was bc of this POS sensor that although the wheels are aligned, the steering wheel can't be put back center.
@wtbm123 Жыл бұрын
Steering angle /position sensor . They do go bad . but sensor should throw a code . If no communication how do they know it is the sensor and not wiring or something

@@wtbm123 I'm assuming through diagnostics and testing the sensor. Electronic steering is not a predominantly common item and diagnosing something like that could get really expensive really quickly considering how much testing you have to do. Okay, well it's a tough one to find. But here goes.. If you are looking down at the hit and miss engine, locate the Flux Capacitor, (it's a silver looking thing with a red led lighted triangle in the center) Then on the left side of the FC, you'll see a 2 stroke duel bell housing output unit. It looks sort of like a quad turbo band accelerator, but it's not, so don't be fooled. Okay, that contraption is called a underhead steam injector that runs the nut spun / Serpentine Armature Canker Shaft ..or nut spun SACS .. If you take that off, I believe there are 7 in a row, 1-11-/16'' inch...ferrous brass nuts, (those are metric) .. So you can't miss em. Once you remove the spun nut SACS you'll see the Ground Faulty Indicated Circuit box, follow the ground on over to the left rim, make sure it's snug and tight on the rim ..(you can let 15 lbs of pressure out of the tire if you want, I find it easier to check the connector) Okay, I just wanted to toss that in there, because if you have the spun nut SACS off, you may as well want to check your GFIC ground wire. Anyway, you will see on right side of the GFIC box a 2 toned, relay switch module that produces the high voltage for the Alternative, Direct Rotational Compressed Floater valve (ADR-CF valve) Okay got it, that controls the power to the steering. 🛑🛑🛑 (Warning) It does have a magnetic magneto, so when disconnecting it will release some sort of highly toxic vapors (☢️) GM still doesn't know where it comes from, but it's not important I guess .. I mean you can always be safe and go with the induced quantum synchronized system, which again is much safer, but come on, it takes twice as long due to the quantum entanglement relays. So please just be sure to release the toxic vapors into a standard size vacuum tube you can pick up at your local automotive store. Once you do that, drain any power left in the Flux Capacitor, by releasing the amps in a black jump box. (again you can pick one up at your local automotive store, that or go with a cheap one from harbor freight) Just make sure the frequency is nothing over 12,000 hertz .. Well you finally achieved the impossible..lol. Na, it's not as bad as it sounds. But finally you'll see a titanium nipple valve ,(yellow knob) ..Twist counter clockwise, or you'll strip the porcelain mold and tear out the rubber gasket saturn rings.. (🤬GM). I done the same damn thing. I ran the titanium nipple valve in crooked, torqued it down to tight and heard crack.. Ah shit, I done cracked the porcelain block. It sprayed nitrogen oxide D-11 carbo gasses in my eyes, and extremely hot steam out from the front passenger injector, which blew hot steam on my face. Yeah it basically melted my face off damn it..Good thing was I wearing gloves and my hearing protection. Sorry I got off track, but yeah that's it .. Just pour some power steering fluid in the tiny hole after taking the yellow titanium nipple valve out. I'm not gonna lie, it's a pain in the ass pouring it in the tiny hole, because unfortunately it's upside down. You may want to use a pressure injection tube to get it up in there. I myself couldn't afford one, so we rolled the Colbalt over on a modified body turner .. These are pro tips folks, you aren't going to get anywhere else. I'm just here to help anyone who has struggled with fixing anything on this high quality fine automotive machine made by GM .. I can teach you how to change the bulbs, or even the porcelain block, etc.. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

could this be the problem with my chevy cobalt 07 the light turned on today and the steering wheel is really hard to turn
@wtbm1238 жыл бұрын
I would check fuses . could look and make sure the wire is plugged in well too. I would have a scan tool put on it and see what it says . Some of those cars have a recall on the steering so may want to check that out also , before spending money to get it fixed

My power steering light came on and it’s very stiff! What should I do it’s 07 coboalt
@wtbm1236 жыл бұрын
check the fuses first . check that the wire in fuse box is connected . but if all is good then it kind of needs hooked up to a scanner to read the codes and data.

Dam that did throw a few red herrings but you tested every path untill you found the reason for failure :-D, dam good job :-D. The two questions would be Why is that power feed plug out, and what was someone doing to the underside of the fusebox?, god knows is the answer lol. Missing or loose nuts, someone is sloppy or just gave up. The tps sensor is a throttle position sensor, so is it dead or bad plug or has some one replaced it and didnt clear the code, pass lol. Did they want the other sensors looking at??

I did fix all codes , but not sure if i videoed them . The throttle body was just very very dirty , and the cam actuator solenoid was bad

Great job anyway, sounds like the car hasnt been serviced for a long time, i bet the fuel consumption was crap before you sorted it. Hope the owner appreciated you, i appreciate how much time you spent, main dealers would want a block of gold for doing stuff like that lol.
