Hi Andy. Great solutions to problems - both for the mimic board and the point motor plugs. Unfortunately, this is a little too technical for me at my early stage of building a layout and the fact that I have no access to either a laser cutter or a 3-D printer. Nevertheless, it's great to see what can be achieved.

Great detail. Custom plugs is a great use for 3D printing.

If you have a printer give them a go :)

I see when you are designing the plug that the version uploaded to thingiverse has no scallops for the soldered wires, did you decide in the end these were not required?

well spotted , I uploaded the wrong file. New version is now there,👍 enjoy printing it.

Brilliant! Only problem I see is pressing all 9 orange levers at once, to release it?
@old_duffers_chuffers3 жыл бұрын
It is ok, you can release all 9 at one go by using the edge of your thumb

Great video and great idea. I use these cobalt point motors on my layout and also have a 3d printer so i've given it a go and bought all the components. The one issue I am having is cutting the circuit board without it breaking into pieces, any suggestions as to the best way to cut it up?
@old_duffers_chuffers3 жыл бұрын
I have the luxury of a band saw at work , but a junior hacksaw and sanding block would be fine. Hope your prints come out ok.

@@old_duffers_chuffers Prints came out beautifully, credit to you for the design. I'll have a go with the junior hacksaw later. I might make a video of the process for my own channel if you don't mind? I will of course ensure you get the credit you deserve

I find traditional tin snips work well for this. But don’t cut along the holes , always between. On SRBP which is the brown ‘veroboard’ material cutting along holes will run a crack all across the board. Not such a problem with fibreglass however.

With the greatest of respect to my old Duffer you know someone is going to steel your idea as it’s to bloody good not to
@old_duffers_chuffers2 жыл бұрын
I don't mind people printing them for their own use. And having been published on a reputable medium ie. You tube, it is cover by intellectual property law

If this gets repeated it’s because I’m an old duffer, your idea is to good not to steal & probably by the company that makes the point motor
