You got a point, but there's a slight difference between considering her return "a lack of character development" and considering it pointless. Her true growth had just started when Terezi killed her. Now that that never happened in the new timeline we will most likely see her development on the meteor just like we already did with everyone else's, so IMHO I wouldn't call it "her character development's death", because it's more like a new opportunity. We only have to wait and see. And I agree with you on the fact that Nepeta, Equius or Feferi deserved it more than her, since we know less about them than we do about Vriska. Here's what I think of the whole thing - and mind that it's just my opinion. What the meteor crew needed was someone who had true leadership, so that they could make an actual plan to defeat )(IC, LE or whatever; Nepeta, Equius or Feferi didn't. Vriska, on the other hand, did. Hell, she would never let anyone give up and hope for a quick death on her watch, so thanks to her they faced grimbark!Jade, Condy and possessed!Jane with an actual plan. She's what the plot needed.

Before I read Homestuck, I heard people talking about Vriska like she was the Worldwide Enemy of Da Goodness In Everything (Timmy Failure reference). So when I read Homestuck, I was really worried when I got to the part where Vriska was introduced. But I found it surprisingly easy to forgive her (her quirk played a 8ig role in it). I can't say I found her faultless, but nobody is faultless. As a Rogue of Light ("Vriska but nicer"), I often see myself when I look into those single- and seven-pupilled eyes.

+Joseph Briggs While I dont mean to justify behavior like that, some people have weird ways of thinking. Some people have very strong standing beliefs that they made from what had happened to them in the past. And those experiences arent something you can knock down with one swoop. While life teaches some people to be loving, caring, and trusting, it teaches others to be selfish, self preserving, and cruel. And telling those people that theyre wrong or the "bad guys" just doesnt compute to them. At some point in their life they got so fucked that "good" and "bad" dont make any sense anymore. I think Vriska might be heavily based on these kinds of people. That one odd person in a crowd which tries to make a point even if it kills them, because to them everyone else just looks blind and helpless. Sometimes people like that try to cling on to people who are weaker and take advantage of them. But really, the person acting unpredictable and bitchy needs just as much help as the person whos the victim. Say what you will but I think Vriska in those early times of the comic was an emotional wreck. She was so caught up in what her past told her and what she had seen before that she couldnt do something as simple as keep a consistent matespriteship with Tavros. Everytime she tried she got confused and started going all trollian love/hate. Even later in the comics she says that she finds those relationships hard. Although she is twisty and manipulative, she is also easily manipulated. Easily broken and hurt. To me at least, I saw a lot of trolls cry while I was reading homestuck. And only when Vriska cried did it seem to mean something. All the others just seemed hopeless and scared for no good reason. Vriska straight up killed someone she considered a friend. And she didnt just move on. She legitimately suffered afterwards. She actually mourned about what she had done. So yeah the psychology of Vriska. There it is.

i like vriska too, but i dont know if she was ever meant to be perceived as a "misunderstood" character. she was awful to tavros and the others, and there's no excuse for that. but, while i hated her at first, what made me like her was that she was instead a "redeemed" character. she was terrible, but in the end, even if it was too late for her, she abandoned pride, and expressed her guilt. while some people still hate her(and i don't blame them), she left things to where she could truly be forgiven. she didnt try to excuse or justify her actions, and instead recognized just how awful she had been. what makes her awesome isn't her twisted and pitiful ubringing, but rather the way she eventually let go of it.

People discussing on whether the morse code is meant for either vriska about equius (or about john idk all of your theories) or serenity about the mayor when i believe its both of course the only character only speaking in morse code is serenity and would make a lot of sense considering the mayor's state at that specific time, but there was also a reason that this song was given to vriska instead, considering that shes not actually all that badass on the inside and this theme would be a reflection of who she is on the inside this song was also renamed for that little "contest" ive been told so there is a lot of arguments over who's theme this really was, possibly leaning towards vriska since both Cobalt Thief and Indigo Heir are linked together with their trait of sharing morse code messages, this being "Please help him" and Indigo Heir as "S.O.S" repeating. one more linked part of evidence is that despite both of their "grumpy" moods early on in the comic, vriska likely definitely would have cared about equius since hes basically the one who fixed her arm, despite the fact that many people believed that vriska was cold-hearted. another one of my personal reasons is that i dont think that a firefly would be such a significant character to the point to get it's own nearly 3 and a half minute song for itself but this song mainly represents both of these relationships

Vriska is one of the most developed characters in Homestuck, I think. She started out as nothing more than an antagonist to the trolls, and an overall bitch. But along the way she was givin different traits to indicate, shes not all bad. She can love, and be kind, and feel sorrow and guilt. she is a character that really showed change throughout the story, and is still changing as Homestuck continues.

Omygod im crying. I personally didnt ever hate vriska. I think she was just lonely, sad, and confused, sticking to troll society. It's a crush or be crushed world, a survival of the fittest. Hussie did a very good job on her character, i think, because he not only expressed the brutality of troll society on a 13 year old girl, but also showed us that even though she did those things she wasnt completely heartless. She was terrified of her lusus, and the only way to live was to kill for her.

I've let so many awful people into my life that sometimes I wonder if I'm an awful person at heart. I don't try to be, but I've hurt people close to me and enabled even more to be hurt by "friends", in spaces I considered safe no less. They don't define me. I hope that by the time I die, I've left a more positive impact on this world. I don't want to just be remembered for all my worst traits and actions. At 2:27 I thought I recognized Morse Code so I did what any nerd who wants to procrastinate their summer projects would do-- I looked it up. The Morse is a bit jumbled, seeing as there is not a distinguishable distance between letters, but I got through it. It seems to spell out PLEASE HELP HIM and I think I've died a bit inside. If someone has found this already, props to you!

the biggest issue with Vriska is that all her emotional depth got flushed down the drain, when John retconned the time-line. literally ZERO amount of "sad backstory" can remedy her character for me. because literally every other troll lived in the same society. Gamzee for example had it WORSE than her, yet you never see anybody using the same defenses for him. Nobody on Alternia respected him, he was always on Sopor-Slime and most likely got mentally damaged because of it AAAAND his Goat-Dad abandoned him. And Hussie (the Author) did him the dirtiest, by ret-conning him into an irredeemable villain, apparently "because it's funny" or something. Everything Vriska that did, made her "unintentionally hateable", not "complex". she was literally just an asshole who never cared about anyone but herself, who we're supposed to feel sorry for. you'd think, she would apologize to Terezi for blinding her? NAH! she just said: "well i lost MORE eyes than you, so i clearly had it worse, sister~" She also never takes responsibility for her own actions. If she didn't push down Tavros and broke his legs, Aradia wouldn't have attacked her. Plus: the moment where she kills Tavros makes it impossible for me to like her. Tavros deserved better than her.

For whatever reason I imagine this. Two Sburb players facing one another, one in a small dream bubble or something. The one in the dream bubble confesses their feelings for the other, they take each others hands into their own and begin to cry whilst smiling, the one in the dream bubble then backs away as the bubble gets smaller and the player inside fades into their memories as the bubble floats away, eventually disappearing.

I know that feel, bro. My perspective of her kinda combined that of John's and Kanaya's. I'm fully aware of what she's done; but I also take into consideration that, largely as a result of her upbringing and finding self-establishment in societal structure, she never really learned the value, practice or respect for non-aggressive kindness. She did begin trying to the best she knew how, even though she didn't really understand it.

It was supposed to be Serenity's theme originally, but it was switched over to Vriska. A few other songs on the album went through the same.

+Jade Harley Actually it starts around 2:26. Many people have decoded it and either decide with "PLEASE SAVE HIM" or "PLEASE HELP HIM". Indigo Heir and Cobalt Thief both have Morse Code in them.
