You also forgot to mention that Cobblemon is much more available to the point where the team openly accepts work and applications from people willing to work on it whenever they add to it, as well as in depth guides to making your own fakemon if you wanted to add those to the server. Whereas for Pixelmon you have to all but sell your soul in order to include so much as a custom skin for a pokemon, nevermind your own fakemon.

I've been using Cobblemon for about a week and it's absolutely fantastic. I'm super hyped for the active updates and community, and once it has trainers and all of the Pokemon, it will probably overtake Pixelmon as the preferred Pokemon-Minecraft integration. The artstyle is fantastic, and personally I find it a bit of a relief for Cobblemon to be simpler. Entering a Pixelmon server these days is really overwhelming with the feature bloat. I think Cobblemon has a bright future.

Pixelmon are making a "nostalgia mod" with blocky models to prevent that. Overall Pixelmon as so much content that it is way easier for them to include cobblemon features than it is for cobblemon to match their content. The only downside for pixelmon is the game version it is running on but they are working on a port I believe. And missing features from updates can be added through mods. Also Pixelmon configs might be a bit tricky to work with but they have so much depth it's crazy. You can custom every pokemon spawning, drops, stats, moves and even types (dragon charizard ✓). You can really tweek everything. Cobblemon is a really great project but their rival is huge. In the end this rivalry will just benefit players bcs new community-requested features might be considered by both teams in order to keep up with the other mod !

I do agree that some people wishing to add basic features in the mod. But people need to understand that the mod is still heavily in alpha and probably gonna stay in Alpha for maybe another year. But from the quickness of the devs, I can see a lot of these additions that are planned to be released in less than a year.

I hope, cobblemon will finally give us true multi-player. Pixelmon tries to emulate the official games a little too hard, only allowing coop in raid battles, but having everything else single player. Idt be great if cobble allowed players to team up against wild Pokémon, like SOS battles.

Another great factor is that cobblemon is open source. Modders can make resource packs, as well as data packs and addons to add more stuff to it

I honestly feel cobblemon should prioritize compatibility with other mods to enhance itself, like with create and MCA. You can only make mechanical'esk objects, and only with create. MCA could give you trainers and replace the PC with a ranch, the healer with a professor (that also tracks your pokedex progress, and crafts specifics for you) and maybe even a dynamic daycare system.

been a fan of pixelmon for years even before they got closed down and rebranded, but I could really see myself actually switching to cobblemon. The only thing that really holds me from trying it is the lack of features, I know it takes time and am willing to wait. I just don't want to run out of things to do quickly cause it might burn me out of the mod.

I haven't played pixelmon in years tbh. it was some of the most fun i've ever had. that being said, Im a sucker for the cobblemon models. It seems like so much love and care is going in to it. If the two mods had the same amount of dev time then i don't doubt that cobblemon would be the more successful one. I imagine time will improve cobblemon to the point it surpasses pixelmon

I really prefer the look of cobblemon! A bit hesitant about using it however due to lack of features, which will 100% be solved over time btw. Cobblemon seems to have way more charm/attention to detail that I’ve always felt pixelmon lacked, when I eventually try it out i’m gonna need a minute to get used to the differences 😅

Funny thing is that pixelmon in early years also had block-like pokemon, not as beautiful as cobblemon but it was looong time ago. iirc they changed style to more "3DS like" because community wanted realistic(?) pokemon designs

Honestly, I like both. I just do prefer pixelmon. I prefer the models and such. I get cobblemon is in alpha and stuff and I do really love them both but for now, probably forever I will take some good nostalgic pixelmon over cobblemon. Hope you can respect that. Also what is with people saying this or that is better, and when someone prefers one the fans from the other side just start coming at them saying that theirs is better, just play what you like. Cobblemon is getting there, but i wish there structers like house etc to find items instead of crafting them held items, 2nd isseus i wish they fix that we can disable mob spawning, currently im playing on peacefull mode i try disable mob spawning hostile is disable cuz of peacefull mode if i dont play on peacefull mode they still spawn, on peacefull mode passive mobs are still there wich is taking the cap for the pokemon to spawn

one thing I certainly prefer cobblemon over right now is the significantly lighter load of the assumed file size, I can't even download the latest pixelmon version on curseforge because my connection is far too slow and pixelmon is really big. as long as the file size remains comparable to how it is now when more stuff to do gets added I know which mod I'll be going for 100%

my favorite it's pokecube I prefer a more dynamic combat system and the way the pokemon interact with the enviroment instead of the pokemon standing next to each other(it's a shame that they haven't add to much in the past few years) , despite that i believe this mod has enough potential to be great.

Unfair why? Pixelmon just takes the games official artwork and puts it in their mod with nearly no effort, Cobblemon designs and creates 100% new models and animations that suit Minecraft much better, they deserve it

​@@BerthuZ6 first, yes pixelmon take the game official art work but they also make custom skin. Second, if you think cooblemon create 100% model skin, just go look at the older version pixelmon. Also pixelmon animation doesn't lesser than cobblemon(example:evolve animation, even move animation is very good, yeah I accept that some of the animation of coblemon is good but not better than pixelmon) . Third, pixelmon got more feature like mega, gigantimax.

As someone who’s used to play Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Fire Red on gba, I think Cobblemon is way to go. The way it’s modeled fit Minecraft’s artstyle much better. While I also used to messing around with pixelmon, Sometimes the way they just throw model in there make Pokemon’s model look really off. But regardless, I still respect both team hardwork.

Cobblemon will be the future since the mod focuses on integrating itself into Minecraft rather than awkwardly being there and serving no other purpose than… It’s Pokémon! Which Pixelmon does. What I really disliked about pixelmon were the models and how Pokémon offered no real gameplay impact other than playing Pokémon but in Minecraft. Cobblemon solves this by giving certain Pokémon functionality: Wooloos can be sheared, small Pokémon can be placed on your shoulder which gives you mild potion effects, and in the future you will be able to ride your Pokémon. I really hope they expand on this feature and try to fit it in a lot more Pokémon.

I was surprised that Pixelmon Generations changed its policy to a side mod for Cobblemon. Cobblemon is so full of promise that if Cobblemon and Generations were crossed, we might have the strongest Minecraft Pokémon mod. (Though Pixelmon Reforged is also interesting, and I look forward to the growth of Cobblemon, Pixelmon, and Generations)

one thing i absolutely DESPISED in pixelmon is that it didn't mesh with minecraft, AT, ALL. Too much content that was often confusion and went against the core minecraft philosphy of simplicity. while cobblemon actually gives you a great way to experience pokemon but in a more minecraft-friendly way Once I found out about cobblemon, my playtime with it tripled my playtime with pixelmon within just about a week.

Cobblemon has a vast amount of potential, but after looking into it myself what it needs is time and polishing. Its just too early on and lacks key features to be considered a real rival to pixelmon for now. Give the mod a few months or possibly a year and if the team actually keeps a consistent update schedule, then it absolutely could compete (and id honestly prefer it)

No Pixelmon wasn't the only pixelmon mod, there was Pixelmon Generations; another pokemon mod that had their own models and was actually better than Pixelmon reforged from my pov, except since it was unofficial unlike reforged it wasn't really famous and they stopped updating 1 year ago to work on BIG update with a rework overall and importing their mod on 1.19, they now have a new name "Pokémod" and are still working to release it. (It was known for updating and adding new gens really fast unlike reforged)

idk bro. 1.16.5/1.18.2/1.12.2 seem to be the best modding versions to alot of people. If cobblemon doesn't back-port in like a year or 2 Alot of people might not touch it.. But than again, GOT-DAYUM THOSE ANIMATIONS THO.

Currently, the only thing I'm super interested for them to add is Trainer and Gym Battles. Specifically Gym battles, as I thought that was the main thing Pixelmon had going for it. PokeCenters and such are good too, but I can do without for a good amount of time.

I honestly like cobblemon a lot more than pixelmon because it feels like it was made with Singleplayer in mind(specifically with the legends arceus approach to Trade evos). It's also for both Forge and Fabric, Which is nice since I play both regularly. Cobblemon also nails the design for the models, striking a perfect balance of Minecraft's blocky-ness and Pokemon's style. Unlike Pixelmon(Both Old and New), I haven't found any of the models uncanny or unnerving.

I’ve only been able to get into a Multiplayer Pixelmon experience. I love and appreciate Pixelmon, but I agree it relies less on Minecraft. I’ve always wanted a mod like Cobblemon and didn’t even know it until it existed. So much fun in my single player world, playing with exactly 100 mods, not too crazy, and it works GREAT! No bugs, recipe glitches, or crashes. I’m able to play a modern modded Pokémon Minecraft experience, and it’s the most fun I’ve had playing the game in years! So glad Cobblemon exists.

I personally really like cobblemon more than pixelmon so far, BUT I really miss the trainers and gyms that pixelmon has. I think I only like those features because I have a server with some friends where I use the whole custom trainer feature for our own mini storyline and cobblemon, despite fitting more into the Minecraft aesthetic we originally wished pixelmon had, doesn't give me as much features to play out a story. Going to keep an eye out on it, playing wise: pixelmom is better, look wise: cobblemon is checking everything on my list.

Kinda love the idea of cobblemon. Back in the day there used to be another called Pokemobs which is really primative compared to mods now days but what I liked about it was it still felt like I was playing Minecraft. Just Minecraft with Pokemon pets and also team rocket enemies around the world. But Pokemon could fight both team rocket's Pokemon but also standard Minecraft enemies. When Pokemobs died I tried to pick up Pixelmon, which at the time still had a more Minecrafty style, but even then I didn't like that it made all combat turn based and removed skeletons and creepers and really made mining useless IE the things that make Minecraft fun. As someone who likes Pokemon but LOVES MINECRAFT pixelmon has never been for me but cobblemon while I haven't played it looks like a return to form and I love that!

One thing that I think would be cool that pixelmon hasn’t added but cobblemon could is when you make a new world you can select which generations spawn in the world as my main issue with pixelmon is that it a bit too much but that’s just my personal opinion

Even though cobblemon is only in development It already jumped on Pixelmon Even though it's literally more developed and took 13 years just to be good And cobblemon definitely what we're looking for in comes to Pokemon in mc not Pixelmon, I mean just look at the models just play an actual pokemon game at this point on Pixelmon Cobblemon is more vanilla, more original, and definitely more fitting into the game which what we've been looking and the other hand's lack for.

Been playing pixelmon since they had the blocky designs. Looking back,, I can see they looked really bad LOL but back then they looked beautiful to me. I was sad but also hyped when they added the higher rendered designs. I feel like the quality of Cobblemon will eventually lead to more downloads than pixlemon in the future. Once they get more updates out that add more pokemon and features that is. Pixlemon, while having more content and pokemon, felt lackluster and clunky but its stayed that way since it was the ONLY pokemon mod viable for use, their monopoly is no more so maybe the devs for that mod will actually focus on QoA improvements.

I have never played of Pixelmon and only got exposed to Cobblemon about a month ago. But, after just seeing the difference between models, nothing could ever convince me to play Pixelmon. Cobblemon is how the Pokemon should look and it is significantly more immersive.

I’m waiting til cobblemon is closer to completion to play it, for the full experience. But I can tell from what I’ve see so far that it looks wayyy better than pixelmon. The blocky Pokémon are much more realistic for Minecraft than pixelmon’s models. And the menus just looks so much better. I can’t to see what the future holds for this mod

tbh for me it doesn't matter if the pixelmon have more features when they are badly optimized to the point you can't play normally, and cobblemon gonna have those features in the future for sure. If i won't get infinite battle, evolution or infinite battle start and quit bug in first minutes of playing, its not pixelmon then xD. i was forced to leave so many times on Minecraft servers bc of those and there's many many more bugs that weren't fixed up to this day. its annoying and frustrating, while with cobblemon i could finally play without having to leave servers bc some bug. And on singleplayer i can play with my own fakemon or skins with my friends. I just can't wait to see more stuff being added to cobblemon

Honestly would be the perfect mod if if had all the Pokémon and you could toggle gens. The art style of the Pokémon is perfect for Minecraft and better than pixelmon. They can work up slowly on their updates and even update in big bundles of new items/new features to were its not overwhelming and make it unlike pixelmon where the whole mod is confusing and very detached from minecraft.

Another huge d is that Cobblemon is open source which allows for people to contribute their work towards the mod and speeding up development quite a bit. Pixelmon isn't open source.

Does cobblemon still allow for the spawning of all vanilla mobs? I remember that being an issue when i tried pixelmon. I was trying to put pixelmon in a modpack i was building for me and my friends, and was surprised when half the moda i had put in were gutted because only pokemon were allowed to spawn.

I hope Cobblemon stays feature basic in the core mod and they can create addons for the mod for specific features you as a player wants (An addon for each Gen of mons for example). The biggest problem I have with Pixelmon is the models and the feature bloat.

Cobblemon is better for single player, as it brings more survival elements to the game. Pixelmon is better for both, it’s well rounded but not as good for single player gameplays. Both are equal in my eyes!

I heard that there will be a point where pokemon can attack you and or run like in legends arceus, idk if they are still gonna do it but if they do, I wonder how its going to be implemented. most people prefer the safe normal pokemon gameplay while others would like to tackle the tough environment of seeing different types of pokemon that can either run from you or attack you. if they do implemented it, It might be a toggle in the world creation settings or configs.

That would do a LOT to set it apart from Pixelmon, I hope they actually go through with that cause it sounds really cool. And idk if regular mobs spawning is going to stay or not, but if it does, I hope they allow you to fight them with your Pokémon (Tho I doubt that'll happen, as cool as it would be).

you are showing 2 différents pixelmon mod, there is PixelmonMod aka Pixelmon Reforged and Pixelmod aka Pixelmon Generations, there are two different pixelmon and Pixelmod even if theyare still on 1.12 is the most complete of the two mod and they are currently re developping the whole mod and mechanics and when they gonna release the final redevelopped mod, PixelmonMod will disappear and will be a really good and refreshing competitor for Cobblemon

Pixelmon Generations is being re-done from the ground up for a 1.19+ release and is being renamed to PokéMod so it'll be refreshing also Generations and Reforged are similar but there is one key difference between the two: Reforged goes for less frequent updates in favor of better performance while Generations has more updates at the cost of performance
