It seems like what cobra have done is make it to where you can change loft and lie without changing face or lie angle. On other single axis loft sleeves if you changed loft you changed other things too. In this if you have a 9 degree and loft it down 2 you can play a true 7. Not a 7 at 3 degrees open. I think that’s huge and will elevate cobra. Especially for tinkerers such as myself. In this situation, if you don’t like it don’t mess with it. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

@@owenedwards-fq5vb Taylormade had similar ideas more than 10 years ago with the adjustable sole plate on the R11 and R11S. What golfers just need to understand is that when you adjust the loft of a club, the face angle is only affected if you let the sole of the club rest on the ground (because when you adjust loft you’re tilting the whole head backwards or forwards, and in doing so, altering the relationship between the lowest point of the club and the centre of gravity). If you just hold the club out in front of you and grip it with a straight face, then hover the club 0.1mm above the ground, face angle is a non issue.

So everything is amazing performance wise, and the two major criticisms are both absurd given that they are 1-150 cheaper than the majority of their major competitors and the new sleeve technology perfectly solves one of the biggest prior technical issues with all loft sleeves to date. Just because you find it confusing Rick, doesn't mean that most of the potential market for this driver will. The target consumer for this driver is a lower HCP player. Most low HCP players have a good understanding of how loft and lies and face angle affect their ball flight and driver performance and will be more than willing and able to understand how the sleeve works and use it to optimise their driver for variable conditions. This will be game changing for fitters and for those that like to tinker, which is a good proportion of its target audience. For anyone that doesn't like it, they can just find a position that suits them with the help of a fitter and leave it as is while still paying less for a drive that equals or outperforms it's main competitors.

That tells me the forgiveness with the x more than makes up for the extra swing speed. The adjustability of that x is a game changer
@dlamishКүн бұрын
I quite like the adjustment options. The problem with some is loft often changes the lie angle or face angle. Titleist actually have somewhat low adjustment because you can only go down 0.75 degrees which is pretty useless (or means they have to carry many head lofts from 8 degrees and 1 degree increments to 12). Titleist and Ping offer flatter lie angles but not that much really. 2 degrees up and down and 2 degrees flatter or more upright is perfect.
@danpoteetКүн бұрын
I think the extra options of the loft sleeve is awesome personally. You can fine tune it to your liking and once most people do that they leave it alone. Use the QR code and select you desired settings once and you're done. It's not even as close to confusing as Rick is making it out to be. Hey, people were confused with Titleist, lol! @ddec0418Күн бұрын
Want to know part of reason why? Because with their old adapter even if you dropped the loft, it was still putting the driver in an upright setting. In the DS , it's stock setting was the flattest lie angle you could accomplish. Even if you lowered the loft on those heads, it made the lie angle more upright. Now you alter the loft AND the lie angle independently, so feel free to flatten the lie and lower/raise the loft if you choose. Completely removed the limitations of the previous adapter.

Excellent Cobra! The 33-way adjustment is great and not at all complicated. Two 8-way collars/circles making 64 different letter/number combinations, but just 33 unique lie/loft combinations because of circles overlapping each other. Lie is mostly determined by your body height, taller more upright, shorter more flat. I'm 195 cm tall, my girlfriend 180 cm short. Other golfers might be longer or even shorter. Me being quite tall I naturally want clubs that are more upright. So what are my options with the new 33-way Cobra hosel? At 2° upright I only have std loft option (E1), but being able to tweak lie +/-2° to accomodate different body types, without changing the loft, is awesome! At +1.7° lie I have +/- 0.7° loft options (D1 and E2). At +1.4° lie I have +1.4°/0°/-1.4° loft options (D8/D2/F2). And so on... pretty straight forward I would say.

I respectfully disagree with his assesment of the adapter. I enjoy Rick's videos on his regular channel but I don't think he is technical enough for this channel. This goes back to as far as when he tested the Autoflex shaft but did not build it to the suggested specs of the manifacturer and then stated it's performance was not worth the extra money. At this time there are only a two adapters that changes can be made to the loft and lie without changing the face angle.(Titleist & Callaway) This one does that and takes it to a tighter tolerance for ball flight. Once you get it dialed in there would be no reason to change it so its not like you have to adjust it daily. There are people out there who are technical enough and like to experiment with the tweeking of their drivers so I consider it a little insulting that he doesn't think a wrench should be included. As far as his thoughts on the price I think they are all too expensive but they still come in cheaper than Titliest, Ping, TM, Cally. That statement makes me wonder if he considers Cobra in the same class of drivers.

I dont think its that confusing. I understood as soon as you pulled out that manual. and as long as people can realize the one sleeve is letters and the other is numbers they shouldnt confuse a B for an 8.

I don't see the problem. If you don't like to tinker with the club just leave it as it is. And if you like to tinker with the settings, good, more options. Not every high hcp golfer is an idiot.

Personal launch monitors are all over, having this much flexibility to fine tune driver is pretty cool. Boomer Rick is hating the adapter to keep his fitter buddies in business

if you haven't already filmed the video, i think it would be a neat test to hit 10 shots in standard, randomly turn the dial and hit another 10, and see how your dispersion matches with whatever setting you landed on. That could help keep your bias out of the test to see if it does in fact fine tune the shot shape.

Not a fan of it being bashed for price. Every other brand is 599 or 649 for the new drivers. So that isn’t fair to them to say it’s expensive when it still costs less than everyone else.

this new adapter is awesome, Taylormade’s basic one made me leave the brand after years for Callaway and largely because of adapter, it’s been a huge headache over the years changing one variable without massively altering another meaning it’s an unnecessary trade off.. so glad someone’s innovated this, and the manual is nothingburger, just take a picture of diagram on phone and you can ditch manual

In a market where people have complained about new drivers not being any different than previous models, I think the adapter is the biggest change in golf clubs since Taylormade went with the carbon face (whether that is beneficial or not). I’m a big fan of cobra making a huge change to their clubs, and I love the more options for adjustability

I think Rick has now resorted to the typical "informercial struggles" routine where the person makes simple tasks seem unmanageable and unbearable. Getting the driver head back onto the shaft and "informercial struggling" to try to figure out how to get back to "A1"...c'mon man. You're better than that. Commenting that one might not know whether it's a "B" or an "8" when one dial is letters and the other is numbers is a bit disingenuous...why would one think an "8" would be on the dial with the letters. And nobody is going to think a "C" is an "N" or a "U" when the highest letter is probably an "H". Plus, who would think the "C" is an "N" or a "U" when it's sitting next to a "B" and a "D". Is someone going to suddenly cock their head 90 degrees when looking at the dial? We get the point that you think it's too much but don't add the extra fluff to try to sell it.

Here in Australia Pre-order it's $999, from memory the RRP of the Dark Speed was the same. I'm guessing it'll still be cheaper than it's direct competitors.

I tested this as early as a few months ago DS-ADAPT. I love this generation driver

I honestly like having the option to change the loft, lie, etc. without having to open or close the club face. Even without this the driver seems to flat out perform. Remember that sleeve is for the fitter. You also say they are too expensive but hit some absolute bombs. It's ok for Callaway and Taylormade to charge ridiculous prices? Cobra has made something that competes with anything on the market. I hate that driver prices are so high, but I think it is fair they can charge more.

It’s not for the fitter it’s for the golfer. It’s not hard to figure out and understand. Loft changes up and down flight, while low angle effects left and right. Flatter lie angle will promote a fade, upright lie angle will promote a draw. Fitters are overrated. Just use you brain
@glencalvert9510Күн бұрын
@@ultimatejay There are a lot of golfers that cannot understand current sleeves, much less this. Let me re-phrase it is for the fitter and golfers who like to tinker (and that includes me). That being said I have worked with a couple of fitters (not sales people at big box stores) who are amazing. When you have access to multiple shafts, heads, etc. and know what you are doing a real fitter can pair you with the right equipment combo for your swing.

"totally unnecessary" is the most out of touch response to what that sleeve actually does for the average golfer.

Club champion says it will change the face of golf going forward. Rick not interested in that. This review just shows how little Rick knows. It’s quite embarrassing to be honest.

Really disappointed in Rick’s trend of negative clickbait reviews. I wish he was more skilled at understanding data and presenting it in a meaningful way. He provides the least helpful info of any golf influencer.

As a fitter this is great. Adds more for the value of a custom fitting. If you don't understand it, go to someone who does.

Why dont you compare the results to last years numbers at the end of the video to see if there is any real change or difference? For all new drivers
@Tenorsaurus20 сағат бұрын
I think youve missed some of the point perhaps Rick, in that having so many options for adjustment means in the hands of a club fitter they can potentially fit more people into a Cobra driver, and really fine tune in for a swing. And then the option exists after having lessons and making swing changes you could be be refitted 12 months later into your own driver and perhaps see improvement without then forking out for a new driver. Just a thought there.

Hit the new X Adapt yesterday with a Cobra rep. The adjustability is simple to fine tune and would take a 5th grader 2 minutes to figure out. Fantastic results. Worst test commentary ever by R.S. Jumps all over the innovation as confusing. Guess he dropped out before finishing grade 5?

Respectfully disagree Sir, I believe the advantage Cobra has engineered into the new clubs will set the standard for years. I now know what I want for Christmas!🎄 Cheers!

I love that I can change loft without altering lie angle or adjust lie angle either direction from standard which you can’t do with any other adapter this is a huge improvement

Why is this tech so hard to understand , way to go cobra , I don’t think Rick gives the average golfer enough credit to adjust their driver, it’s not rocket science
@killacamfooКүн бұрын
The price bump makes sense, they have always been cheaper, and now have to pay for that R&D on the loft sleeve and the extra model in the 10K. People are keeping clubs longer than ever before these days as well if you are properly fitted - and this club can somewhat "grow" with your swing if you are making changes. That sleeve is for fitters mainly. Set it and forget it is what I have always done once fitted unless a swing coach says otherwise.

First of all im loyal cobra player since my youth. Love the clubs. Why not test the draw bias and just play a fade or slice see how it holds its line? These reviews are suppose to be for the viewer not you. 90% of people watching are players that need draw bias and you just ignored them because I guess its all about you unfortunately.

As someone who is still getting better every year, or trying to, I can see the appeal of this club. My swing changes all the time as my game develops and I like to be able to reset to neutral and find the right setting for my current swing. Also, I for one am spending more time in the simulator than ever before over the winter so the data is actually available to me to make informed decisions about the best configuration of the club. I'm not saying I'd be tinkering with it every day but over the course of a year I'm sure I'd adjust it a few times.

Cobra: Releases an innovative new technology Rick: Im too stupid to understand this so i HATE IT Also Rick: Continues to review the club ignoring the new tech which is the entire point of the new driver This guy has given up on caring about quality and only cares about quantity. Happens everytime a favorite content creator gets too big.

I think you have misunderstood what they have achieved with this new sleeve Rick. Most sleeves allow you to make changes but often if you want lower launch you'll flatten the lie too. Some people may require a lower loft with an upright toe which can't be done with a lot of sleeves. I think what they have done is brilliant. You can literally ADAPT the driver to any setting that is required. In my humble opinion, a driver should be fitted and left alone. Changes should only ever be made by a fitter. Someone who understands what the settings can do for ball flight. Look at KZG for example. They do not provide a tool for changing the loft sleeve. Because if your swing changes and the driver is no longer performing as it should then the idea being you go back to the fitter and get them to make the necessary adjustments.
