17:08 I am from Mexico and i'm surprise that the writers use common mexican slangs, like "la mera neta", "si no te abres a la verga" and "te van a meter unos putazos", very welcome that they didn't use neutral spanish, it does feel like they did an effort to be authentic in that aspect.

same. never-binger here. 😄 but i'm going to go on a limb and guess that cobra kai is such a popular brand in the valley now that they may defeat silver, but cobra kai will end up being led by daniel and johnny. daniel already does well with his dealership but maybe now johnny will also enjoy being the owner of a profitable enterprise.

Silver is such a slimy, manipulative, egomaniacal sociopath, and Daniel knows exactly how dangerous he is and he goes into panic mode sometimes knowing others aren't going to be able to see the truth of it. Daniel's mind doesn't work in that sneaky way so it's hard for him to counter act Silver's duplicitous tactics. The harder he tries to sound the alarm, the crazier he sounds. I feel bad for Daniel. It's like he's trying to warn everyone of an oncoming train that no one can hear or see.

Chozen has become my favorite character which surprised me at first because he was the most dangerously unhinged (potentially murderous) asshole in Karate Kid 2. However, coming from that background and turning himself around, he really appreciates the value of being a better person and understands the negative paths you can go down if you're not careful. That's why he's the character who started the worst when he premiered in the original trilogy and has grown and improved himself the most.

Steven, you missed something in Season 3. Kreese and Silver's captain in Vietnam told Kreese what style of karate he's going to teach them. The Korean Sensei's style that Chosen recognizes.

21:28 Tang Su Doo is also a legitimate martial art, Taekwondo (a Korean martial art) is a later off-branch, a lot of people in Karate Kid analysis videos mention that Cobra Kais style looks more like Tang Su Doo than Karate (which is Japanese) but Miyagis style is Goji Ryu (Okinawan Karate)

The actor who played Chozen is the same actor who played Johnny Tsunami's father in that Disney Channel movie JOHNNY TSUNAMI. The actor who played Johnny Tsunami's grandfather is the same actor who played Shang Tsung in the original MORTAL KOMBAT movie from 1995.

It's not that. It's Miguel is obviously troubled and going through something so serious that he left his family and country as a teenager and the first call he gives is for help and here Sam is bitching because he didn't ask if she won a stupid karate tournament or not which she only cared about winning so she could throw it in Torri's face and for own selfish pride, not honor or anything like that. She's a little spoiled brat and shouldn't have brought that up in that conversation.

This going all the way back to the beginning, but it just dawned on me that Miyagi-do's rule number one, "Karate is for defense only," echos a funny scene from the satirical 1960's Batman series starring Adam West. Julie Newmar as Catwoman is trying to escape, but Adam West as Batman is between her and the exit, so she threatens him by telling him that she knows "CAT-rate." Batman corrects her pronunciation of "karate," and tells her "Karate is for defense only. Therefore, if I don't attack you, you can't attack me, and I'm not going to attack you," and he just stands there smiling smugly and blocking her way.
