Laughs off. Alright, let me explain this. Ever since Demitri trained under Mike Barnes, he started becoming cocky and at Season 6: Part 1 Episode 5 and after he also found out that Hawk didn't apply to enroll at MIT. This is one of the things that pissed off some fans, Demitri's new demeanor, a cocky one. And after the flag fight round 2, Episode 5, when Hawk, Demitri, Sam, and Miguel talked, Demitri is like "I got into MIT. Why you all surprised? That would be like LeBron James getting turned downed by the Lakers.'' and does the basketball shoot gesture with that cocky smirk. You see, his cocky smirk and his hair style that has gotten upwards, representing his cocky demeanor, especially at the introduction of Sekai Taikai. That's how Demitri is cocky this season

See, I think the irony here is that Mr. Miyagi would probably have said, “Daniel-san, let Tory-san fight. Trust Tory-san to show honor.” The tension between Daniel and Johnny I think ironically is a reflection of the complexity of who Mr. Miyagi himself was as a character. We learn he wasn’t perfect in Act One. He didn’t start out as a sage. And neither did Johnny. Or Daniel! But really. Should that have surprised us? Mr. Miyagi even tells Daniel in Karate Kid Part 2, “Daniel-san, nobody perfect.” Daniel thinks of Mr. Miyagi as someone who could do no wrong. Which I think is why he is missing the qualities in Johnny that actually make him more similar to Mr. Miyagi than Daniel realizes. Also, Mr. Miyagi says “fighting not good” in The Next Karate Kid but also recognizes when Julie Pierce should be allowed to fight her bully so that she can respect herself. Maybe Johnny will take over Cobra Kai again at the end of this show, in the wake of however Kreese’s character arc ends. Maybe Kreese’s Cobra Kai will lose the Sekai Taikai to Miyagi-Do, or maybe he finally puts aside his hatred for Mr. Miyagi and decides to join forces with Miyagi-Do to stand up to the Iron Dragons, and they all win. And then maybe Kreese steps aside finally and lets Johnny retake Cobra Kai and reshape its motto/ethics: “Strike now. Strike fast. Show mercy.” Something like that. It would be a great callback to how Johnny reflects on the original creed in Season 2 and tells his students, “This creed on the wall…follow it to the letter, it will make you strong, formidable…but it will also make you an asshole. That’s why Johnny Lawrence’s Cobra Kai sometimes shows mercy.” I think what Daniel will ultimately realize is that he doesn’t have to make Johnny into a disciple of Mr. Miyagi (“it’s not the Miyagi-do way”). Johnny already has grown significantly and has been a Mr. Miyagi himself to his students. I dunno. 🤷‍♀️ These are my theories. I can’t wait to see how they tie all this together in parts 2 and 3. I think the last episode title of the series either is (or should be) “Ex-Degenerate.” :)

I say if miyagi wants to win the sekkai taikai, Daniel will have to teach robby, miguel, and/or Sam the pressure points technique. Only question is who should learn it. Or will all 3 of them learn it.
