Because they were. Even the the negative vocal rock songs of the time at least had energy. Corporations figured out that pulling at peoples emotions was an easier way to make money. In comes break up songs with only two verses and a catchy beat that has a single drop change up before finishing out the song. See Juiceworld, MGK ex song, all of the female artists on the radio currently.

This was such an amazing time!! I won a meet and greet with Cobra Starship through a radio station and got to go bowling with them on my actual birthday 🥰💞💕💜✨🎉🥳 one of the best birthdays I ever had!!
