Wow, some of you guys really? Yes, there are some other options that are fantastic knives if you want to lay out the cash but some folks either don't or can't. Cobratec is an alternative that offers a great build with quality components backed by a solid warranty for a fair price!!! Why are you all hating??? WOW!!!

I got 2 cobratec, 1 Vipertec, 1 microtech and I will say the only noticeable difference between microtech and these are the blade steel. The build quality and warranty is arguably better and it's so funny how microtech voided my warranty after saying I can open my knife by myself, that's why I wont buy another overpriced microtech

@@boostedbavarian Wow! Have I had this thing 4 years already? So I will be totally honest here, I’ve never “used it” once, have only played with it a few times (just the other day actually). It does seem very rugged & very robust, however, it’s rather heavy & just a little too big for me to carry. I’ve had a lot of aluminum bodied OTF knives & have gotten so used to those that it’d be hard to get used to something like this Cobratec. I work in the auto industry & a knife is crucial, but I don’t want to use a $400 OTF for that, so I’ve gone through several Lightning OTF’s, usually getting 6mo out of them. I must say though, I’ve had this one particular OTF that I got off Amazon (no doubt Chinese), & it’s simply amazing. It’s been through hell & just won’t quit! I also bought it 4 years ago & am so impress at its longevity. I’ve bought 6 more just like it to have for backup (which live in display case with Cobratec). Anyway… the Cobratec “seems” great & all but once more I can’t provide a valid opinion on it’s performance.

I have both. I've had the lightning for about 4 years and the Cobratech for about 2. I can say, I EDC'd both for about 2 years as I replaced the lightening with this. This is worlds, and I do mean worlds above in quality. Fit and finish is better, the spring is better, lock up is nicer, and the blade is much better and holding an edge. I paid $40 for the Lightning and $100 for the CT. I'd pay 100 for the CT over and over again before a lightning for EDC. If you're getting an OTF just to play with it, just get whatever. Buy for EDC the CT is much better imo

I have a German Nato OTF knife made in Solingen from the 1990's. After many years of use, the blades will get some wiggle on all OTFs. Just the nature of the beast I guess. I bought a CobraTech OTF today. It seems decent. It is a good option for a cash strapped person to enter the OTF genre and then go from there. I like the warranty and case that comes with it. Paid 49.99.

I just bought one of these for about 110 at the USCCA EXPO and at first I thought it was a pretty good poor man's Microtech and this type look suspiciously like the Troodon down to where the screw placements are except they don't use the same type of screws. then I went to DHgate as someone in this comment directed and searched up Microtech Troodon and there is a clone that has the exact same pattern grip like Combratec I bought but not the same screws selling for about 30 bucks...I wondered if these are actually clones of the Troodon they bought in bulky, rebranded and resold for triple their value price

Knives don't run out of bullets, and if it comes down to that you'll be happy you have something sharp close to hand . . . OTF knifes are easy to use and relatively reliable, I'll put it to you this way if you carry a double action revolver as you EDC you'd probably prefer as standard fixed blade maybe a folder if you prefer a semi automatic then you might prefer a automatic knife such as an OTF... 🥃 cheers 🍻

I have purchased a Cobratec and watched your review, the problem(s) that I have is that (A) your information appears fairly scattered and I don't see any coupon code for the CobraTec knives. (B) It also appears that the knife they sent you has quite a bit lighter action than the one I purchased and wouldn't mind getting another, but the one I have, the trigger or actuator seems so stiff or heavy that it is almost uncomfortable and offsetting. I thought a little lubrication and use would help, but I'm thinking it almost certainly has to do with the weight &/or strength of the spring. Did you notice this with the one you were using? And since you had contact and review, do you know if it's possible to get any sort of discount benefit as well as possibly reducing the trigger weight or pressure?? Nice channel and review. Thanks.

I like your theory on paying for knives. Don't buy a knife that costs more than your gun. I'm a fan. My absolute price ceiling for a knife is probably $150. Any more than that and I wouldn't want to do anything with the knife other than put it in the gun safe and take it out to look at it once a week. I USE my knives, so the majority of them are in the $40-100 range. Anyway my wife got me one of the smaller Cobratech OTFs for Christmas and I love it. I actually just changed out the blade to try another one for awhile (she also got me a spare blade). Also I just noticed they now sell a "small cap screw" for $5 to replace the glass breaker.

I picked one up for $170, thinking they were good quality, but I ended up giving it to my buddythat went to the show with me for half what I had paid for it, and I picked up a Brian Tighe OTF that cost double the Cobratec, and seems really nice.

Did you have any concerns of the knife accidentally deploying while you were carrying it? It looks like it would be easy for it to happen.

I have collected knives for 50 years and know a bit about quality and I bought a medium silver at a show in wy yesterday. Anyway it's not sloppy or loose like some of the much more expensive ones. Its lifetime backed and I'm very impressed as I tested it big time. I will be back for more.

In fact I was at a boat show and they had these knives!(Cobratec had their own stand). The trigger, button, whatever, takes some force so it doesn’t automatically go off in your pocket. The small has an about 4 inch handle, with a good size blade. The medium had a 5 inch handle with a 3 inch blade, while the large had a 6-7 inch handle with a 4-5 inch blade. It is very sturdy and the blade deploys quickly. I would recommend this knife over all the other high dollar knives.

I have three of these of different sizes. All the D2 blades. I was never an EDC knife guy until I got this knife. I have been EDC one now for about 4 years. My favorite one is the middle size, IMO the large is a bit too big to carry in my jeans every day vs the medium or the smaller one. Easy to clean and you can get a blade replacement for about 40 USD.

The pelican style case & the holster is standard with the purchase. I got one of the mini's in OD Green for like $60-ish. SUPER happy considering the price point and being able to buy million different blade options for like $30 each...

We use to run TheKnifeStore online had tons of microtech's, the limited edition automatic boker's and tons of leeks/chives/scallions. Was recently introduced to you guys and had a chance to handle and feel your OTF. Gotta say i couldn't feel a difference from the overly-expensive MicroTech's, also a huge plus is yours actually felt much better in my hands width-wise.

Final Thoughts, “If I was going to purchase this~ I would.” HUH? You can get better OTF knives from other sites and companies, with much better Blade Steel for a cheaper price! 440 Steel was good, 25 years ago! Another Chinese $15 knife, rebranded and sold for $100 in the U.S.~ Pathetic......

Kevin Fuenzalida Pugin 👍 My buddy owns Texas Fantasy Knives, find them on eBay (USA). They’re legit and 100% Authentic. He’s got a nice selection of discounted Zero Tolerances (ZT Knives) and newly released ZT models, along with Kershaw and other popular models. Most of the US Made Kershaw knives are very good quality. Everything is guaranteed with money back if not happy. Check out the new Kershaw “Dividend” (spring assisted) in M390 Blade Steel. The blade deployment is smooth and lightning fast for a folder The M390 Dividend is about $70-75, but it’s all made in the US & Assembled in the US. If you’re looking for a nice OTF without spending $400, get the entry level Microtech UTX 85 in Bohler M390 Steel, get it in Double Edge, with double action, D/E & D/A (approx.$225) or try Guardian Tactical (USA), Hogue (USA), Heretic (USA), or Asheville Steel (USA) - These are all great companies for OTF’s Benchmade and Microtech are good but expensive! Unless you get the Microtech UTX 85 which is not terribly expensive. These companies all have and autos and mostly all have OTF’s (except ZT). ZT Stopped making autos!
