So what I’m hearing is that she was dealing with PDF-files, her teenage body was trafficked out by coercive people in the modeling industry, and no one protected her. They put completely unrealistic body images on her and then critiqued how she achieved it. Also the media attacked her for her relationships and drug usage after using her up as a teen.

As a young person in the 90s, it was so weird seeing coverage of Kate. It was like the magazines and everything had a love/hate relationship with her. They treated her like a line in a Marilyn Manson song "build you up like the sweetest angel, then tear you down like a wh0re" ....but then again, that's how they treat everyone, isn't it? Even the readers of the magazines. I remember one doing an article about body image issues and unhealthy standards, why we need more realistic sized models...and then on the next page was models that fit the Heroin Chic look. Sending real confusing messages to young readers!

I was a teenager in the 90s. A few insights of how society was back then. There was no social media. Girls wanted to models and in music videos. The whole lifestyle seemed glamorous. Kate got huge because she looked mid/average. She was short and she made it. It gave girls hope. We were told you have to be super skinny and at least 5'8" . Now there's a layer that people rarely talk about and that is obvious NOW. Child trffking. The fashion industry wanted children. Hot young boys and girls. Bring them to parties and pump them full if drugs and alcohol. It kept the weight off. Alot of smoking and body dysmorphia going on with ED. you hear stories now of model girls and boys being pressured to go to old men's places to screw. The AGENCIES pimped them out and manipulated these kids ( mostly teens) saying it will save their career/ he knows people. Modeling was cutthroat back then. Not saying it's bad now but they are more cautious.

Kate Moss was 5' 8" which was the minimum at the time amd super skinny. She looked like Jean Shrimpton at the time. Then even taller and thinner girls from Eastern Europe were found first in the Czech Republic and Hungary and then in even poorer countries such as Romania and Ukraine. The scouts even went to Siberia in Russia. These girls were only 14 and their modelling career is over by 18 as they start to fill out. They are living in shared flats in Tokyo from age 15 or 16 with no adult chaperones.

I was a kid/teen in the 90s and Kate Moss was so pivotal in the fashion world. Her “heroin chic” look influenced us all to have extremely poor body image, and a warped sense of what was normal. After Kate came along, all of the runway models were younger and skinnier. Gone were the days of the Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell’s- the bombshell icons of the 80s and early 90s with healthy, beautiful figures. Now it was only about the “10 year old boy body” with no curves at all, and it was the skinnier the better. “Waif” look was also something they would say. I still have a very skewed sense of body image and what I think is ideal because of growing up in that time. The 90s and early 00s were such a toxic time to be a young person.
@Fierie3338 күн бұрын
it wasnt Kate’s idea or fault. It was the industry - men in particular. In the 1920s very thin boyish figure was also ”in”. Heroin chic was not only limited to her, it was everywhere. It all comes down to control of women and all this perversion. I also recommend reading or watching about the Prada / Miu Miu effect and Slavic models in the industry. absolutely illegal that 14 yo kids were working like this… so much pain and exploitation went behind the scenes

I am from era of 1980- 90 ties ,watched the big supermodels./My age/ I remember when Kate started . Her facial structures are very unique !!. She always had outstanding look with make up or not. Especially in comparison with others big names of flawlessly beautiful models, she worked with, that time. Kate's face has the spark which is easily transformed from girlish to very elegant ,classy look when needed. To me, she always seems natural ,herself, down to earth to this day when I watch her videos or interviews . She has been trough a lot of bad things in her modeling ... However ,she is still standing, still beautiful , same face and stylish look. Tbh, bunch of models Kate worked with in past , we don't see them around anymore. I admire Kate. Btw I watched your video you posted one day ago, January 2025 where you saying she is 41y old. No, Kate was 50 last year/2024/ ,I saw her birthday celebration Thank you for your great work!☺

I don't think it was totally fair. I mean, the modeling industry destroyed the first Supermodel to ever walk the face of America, GIA. Gia Carangi. I know because I'm Italian, I know her story. AND THAT INDUSTRY DESTROYED HER. So any model who uses drugs, I mean get real, tons of them do. They just didn't get as much press as Kate did. Kate got the press cause she dated the bad boys. I mean give the girl some privacy that she's been wishing for, for decades...........

I was often scouted as a young teenager as I was already 5.7" age 15yrs. My mother refused to allow me to go to the agency. When I turned 18 I joined Elite modelling agency much to my mother's disapproval. My first trip to Japan to model in the the early 90s made me understand the dark side of that industry and very quickly understood why my mother fought to protect me from it. We would go on castings and have to dress in bikinis and hold up our number on a peice of paper and asked often to pose in a sexual manor that at that age was something your not comfortable with. That's not even the half of it. It's a shame so many mothers will push their children into that world just so they can say 'my child's a model'.. I'm naturally slim so could really eat what I wanted but I would see girls often starve themselves. It's glamourised by nepo babies but often the children of stars are more protected, it's the ones that come from a normal background that are not and suffer the most. Huge changes need to be made in industry.

She seems like such a genuinely kind hearted and very beautiful person who unfortunately went through some really tough times but has shown how incredibly strong she truly is. Celebrities are human beings and we should definitely remember this ❤ unfortunately sometimes people forget that and it's really sad. Kate was even there for him when he was going through everything with Amber Heard and that honestly speaks volumes about her character, even after he hurt her emotionally but she seems to have a heart of gold and I wish her nothing but the very best 💓🙏 Addiction is an absolutely horrible thing to experience and people should not be shamed for it, we don't know what people have been through in their lives to turn to substances to numb the pain. Even people who have been in serious accidents, suffer from severe pain or a chronic illness are prescribed prescription drugs then suddenly are cut off and unfortunately some turn stronger, illegal substances 😢❤ We should never judge these people, just try and show them kindness and support. If they don't want the help, we can't exactly make them get better. Some have to reach rock bottom in order to get help. Others do want help and don't really know how to ask for it. All I'm saying is, being a kind hearted and nice person can honestly make someone's day 🥰 Don't judge people, just show kindness. It genuinely breaks my heart seeing how the media portrayed Kate Moss for some of her actions or saying she was promoting an unhealthy lifestyle when all she wanted to do was what she truly loved 😢❤ It's a different story if the person is actually a really awful person who believes they are better than anyone else and treats people like garbage but Kate has always been a very kind, ambitions and genuine person. Apologies for the rant, I understand it was a different time back then but the way she was treated was disgusting. She was an incredibly talented and successful lady who unfortunately made a few mistakes in her life and struggled with addiction. As I mentioned earlier, we are all human and we make mistakes, no one is perfect. Some people are just awful but majority of people are just trying to get through each day and try to enjoy life! Anyway hope you are going well Sloan ❤ Still thinking about everyone in California and wishing nothing but the best regards! Much love from Australia!

First of all, promoting skinny didn’t start with Kate Moss. It comes from the top…managers, agents, sponsors, photography. Second of all, Kate didn’t promote drug use. She’s one of MANY celebrities, famous, rich individuals that use drugs. She’s one that got caught. Media, tabloids, publicists incessant reporting on it is what’s promotes it. Individuals in the industry just love to ruin their peers/colleagues reputation/character/careers. Super sad.

I really can’t stand the media. They take something that’s already bad and they make it worse, it’s disgusting. Look at how they treated Brittney Spears and Amy Whinehouse and honestly we’re all to blame for watching it as these people kill themselves. I’m definitely going to try to consume less gossip from here on out. I’m trying to create a more positive energy this year. Prayers for everyone grappling with the disease of addiction 🙏🏻
