Sulfamed is so much better than Corid but we always dosed 1cc per 5lbs day 1, 1cc per 10lbs day 2-5. We started using Baycox this year though, 1 dose does the trick because it kills both stages of Coccidia. We retreat every 3 weeks as a preventative.

I don't know if I just missed it, but why or how does wind factor into coccidia spread?

Our vet here in Kentucky actually suggests that we don't treat for coccidia unless their levels are above 250. I assume this is to prevent resistance.
@SageandStoneHomestead3 жыл бұрын
Not saying that people shouldn't treat prophylactically, I'm just noting what our vet told us here as an alternate potential treatment option. You guys are great!

I live in KY as well. Western KY. Corrid is the worst thing to use because it messes with Thiamine. Sulfamed really makes these kids flourish. I personally wouldn't want to risk stunting growth of the kids, so I dose with prevention. I've dealt with coccidia once and I never will again. Sulfamed prevents AND treats it.

I assume this is this for all the kids, not specifically the ones that are 2 weeks old or older, right? Am I also safe to assume that the Coccidia is spread through particles blowing around in the air? You were talking about it being windy. I do love how often you all are putting out videos now that this is your main "job".

If I am not mistaken Coccidia is a parasitare so it probably spreads through feces.

I could be wrong though. I have never had issues with Coccidia with my three goats.

I think getting coccidia depends on the area. If you never notice your kids getting diarrhea your area probably doesn't have coccidia.

Hi crystal what's the dosage for corid for baby goats I can't find your old video please let me know thank
@BlueCactusDairyGoats10 ай бұрын
Hello! I actually stopped using Corid a few years back when it wasn't working in my area anymore. Also, they need Thiamine (vitamin B) when given. However, the 9.6% oral solution Coccidiostat dose for treating a case of coccidia is once daily for 5 days. Dilute the solution with water (5.3 oz of water to 1 oz of Corid 9.6 % solution). The dose is 3cc per 10 lbs 5 days straight. If you skip a day, start over. Hope that helps!

Hey guys! I have not commented on many pages' videos in the many, many years that I have been watching KZbin. But I found your page about 2 weeks or so ago and I have already watched (and Liked, of course!) probably around 40 videos or so, so far! Obviously loving your channel, you do a super great job with ALL of those different animals! And try not to let the other crazies out there, behind their computer screens, make you feel any different about that, you take care of them in all the ways possible and respect them for giving you the things that they do. Said people, in my opinion, need to look back in history, as well as the Present times (it is WAY more common than you think for people to be harvesting their own substances still to this day) that it is the natural way for our bodies to be consuming in the first place! SCIENCE! Haha Also, you tend to live longer without the fake stuff down the street at the drive thru 😉 Anyway, I was wondering if you could possibly make a video when all of the does have kidd'd to recap which doe had X amount of kidds and X amount of genders as well maybe please?? 😁 You guys are pretty cool and have such interesting ideas and personalities altogether. So keep it up 👏 And I can't wait to watch your progress and the changes that will be made very, very shortly in your near future! 👍 Hopefully my near future is having a homestead here in Utah and possibly making a trip to our neighbors (You guys over there in Arizona) to buy our first couple of goats from!! 🐐
@sallyann63243 жыл бұрын
Crystal, we do the same, but after 7 days we continue with a one day a week treatment until a few months old. I questioned the 7 days after I started getting cocci after 2 weeks of end of dosing, so does a week dosage continue to work for long period until better immunity to cocci? I have great results continuing 1x week thereafter as we are in a very wet area, I'm asking because perhaps that year was just a freak.

Thank you for this! Adding to my medical notes :) Curious, is this something that we should be doing with the goats yearly, seasonally? How often? Do you also dose the adults (or just kids')? And if so, is the dosage the same? Also, does this type of prevention affect anything as far as meat or milk quality and/or ability to be consumed? If you do end up dosing the does, are they allowed to continue to nurse kids? Thank you for all the awesome info!
