Hello Makenna, thank you for making these Vlogs and Q&A videos. I just had my Cochlear implant early this year the Nucleus 8 and I love it. I wear my CI on my right side and my HA on the left. I was told I may need a CI on my left ear as well so I am happy but curious if they will damage the residual hearing I have left on my left ear when they do the surgery. I will ask my doctor more questions before I makes a final decision. You are correct on not enough information online about a personal perspective on the experience. I did a ton of research on my cochlear manufacture and why I chose Cochlear America for my hearing needs, of course, my audiologist also suggested It was the best options in my case. Thank you again for the informative videos. I look forward for more videos.

I can’t tell you how much this video means to me! Thank you for answering my questions and sharing your experience. Like you said towards the end, I haven’t found other resources of people who have the Osia that I can ask questions to or even hear their experience and I also didn’t want to use the cochlear website so much because I did feel like it was going to be advertisement with positive brand promotion. Also, the only ones in my area that came up from the site were older people and I wanted to hear from younger people. So thank you so much for this!! How long would you say it took you to recover in terms of a person going back to work after surgery? I’m still new to your channel so don’t know if you work a 9-5 job or not but I would be needing to take time off work and go back and am wondering how long I’d likely have to be out. I’ve had other ear surgeries where probably a week was fine but not sure about this one. Again, thanks so so much!!!

I'm glad that my videos are finding the people that need them!!❤ I do work full time in biopharma, this surgery I had a 3 week recovery. You probably could just do 2 weeks if you had to if your job is something calm/office-y where you don't have to be up and moving much. I wish you the best!!

I had my Osia implant done 10/28/24 on my left side. My head is still somewhat numb and tender. Is this normal? Or how long before it feels normal? I go back 11/19 for activation. Thanks for addressing the questions they ask, knowing I can say if it doesn’t sound right. I’m excited to see how this journey goes. I lost hearing in my left ear due to infections at about 9-10 years old, I’m now 42. Regular hearing aids would cause too much moisture in my ear causing more drainage and ear aches or infections. My ENT suggested a BAHA, the neurotologist I saw recommended the Osia. Surgery was easy peasy and I was never in pain.

Thanks for answering my questions Makenna. Seeing as how you haven't really noticed any improvement in sound quality, I think I'm going to stick with my magnetic BAHA 5 for now (obviously it will vary person to person, but I still sort of expected a marked increase in quality). And the fact that the OSIA pretty much devours batteries is a bit of a turn off too. Fantastic informative video, really appreciated!

This is interesting. I have the clip baha both sides.. I wasn't given the option of the magnet. They did the operation while i was awake which was actually fine apart from the sound and scraping.

Very helpful video, thank you. I definitely relate to the things you said. When you first got the BAHA, were you embarrassed to wear it? It’s kind of what I’m dealing with rn.

I have my first assessment for the osia next week. Thank you for making these videos, I cant seem to find many others with it. So it's been helpful to learn about your experience before I go down this journey. Same as posted above, a little worried about the appearance and all the questions I'll get. Is your hearing loss purely conductive? Did the surgery impact your natural hearing at all?
@MakennaJean
@MakennaJean Ай бұрын
@@ryanbond4712 yes I have complete conductive hearing loss from a long medical story, so I had no hearing prior to these implants 😅

@@MakennaJean yes for the Osia. Cochlear has a list of phones that's compatible. I hope you can get it to work with your phone.
