My cockatiel lost his mate a week ago and he's been lonely and depressed since. This video has him chirping and moving around his cage, which he hasn't done in a week. I stopped the video for a moment to sign in to my youtube account so I could leave this message, and he freaked out. This video may well save him. I was getting worried that I might lose him too, to depression. This video will be playing daily, all day. Even my budgies like it.

My mom and I brought my boy home when I was seven (I’m in my twenties now) a couple years later we adopted an older male who was thirteen at the time. The younger one passed away on Boxing Day. Without his caretaker, my dinosaur struggled through a few months until I decided to put him down. It’s taken years to even think about them without crying. Recently I felt like I was finally ready for a new bird and adopted a rescue from a hoarding situation. I don’t know what her life was like but I think she’s lonely, suddenly living without dozens of other birds. Today, I showed her this video during one of her occasional screaming fits and she was GLUED to the screen. I’ve never seen her so relaxed. I skipped ahead whenever she couldn’t see a tiel and we watched the whole thing together. Thank you from both of us. This video was a real gift.

I got my poor male cockatiel when he was in a pet shop losing feathers because people would torture him. Since then he could not fly and sadly cannot leave the cage due to it but he is healthy and happy and I am just as happy if not happier to have this bird by my side.
@ericsanchez36633 жыл бұрын
That is no reason to imprison him in a cage. He is depressed. Feathers or not, he needs exercise and freedom. A cockatiel in a cage most of the day is not happy, and a cockatiel that does not get exercise is not healthy. I am sorry your bird had a hard time in the pet shop, but locking him in a cage, without regular play time outside it, is also torture.
@LumberTycoon73 жыл бұрын
@@ericsanchez3663 The thing is every time we would let him out, he would try to fly and hit walls and damage himself. If we try to hold him like last time, he literally almost has a heart attack cause he thinks he is dying. Their hearts are tiny and are easy to have heart attacks and kill them. I could only pray right now that we can get his wings clipped by someone trustworthy and have him be able to walk around again.
@ericsanchez36633 жыл бұрын
@@LumberTycoon7 I am sorry. Your bird has gone through a lot, and I'd say that is very stressful on both of you. Simple put, the bird needs to trust you. Hand-tame the bird first. Then take him out. He will see you as the safest perch in the room. A bird that won't let you touch it (pick it up or perch on your finger) shouldn't be allowed out of the cage. Because how would you get them back in xD Join a good bird forum and ask as many questions as you can. And most importantly, HAND TAME THE BIRD. It is the most important part. Have patience, it could take a month or more of hard work and patience before the bird will let you even touch them. But it will build the best bird-owner trust level. Plenty of great content out there on the subject. Even for working with abused birds.
@atoots84114 жыл бұрын
My Cockatiel was an abused bird , he has become a great friend and in the last week he started letting me pet him! He has become a real Bird! He had never been out of his cage or been held. I used to have 3 cockatiels. Two were boys and one is a girl. The girl was the youngest bird, as she is only 1 year old. And the boys were both 4 years old. Sadly, both boys have left us. My first male had a “crush” on my female bird. He would sing and chirp to her with his beautiful songs. And the other male was kind of independent. The independent bird is basically MIA. He flew away, and we don’t know if he’s still out there. My other one has passed away. We don’t know how, but he was just chirping just fine! And after a few moments pass by, he just layed there, at the bottom of his cage, lifeless. His name was Arrow, and the MIA bird is named Jet. My female, who is still living young, is named Blaze. May my precious boys enjoy their lives, wether after life or still living. I’ll see you guys soon at the Rainbow Bridge. ❤️ Thank you for taking your time to read this.

I don't often reply to these but this made such an impression on me. I'm sorry to hear about your cockatiel that flew away. and the other one that was chirping. My cockatiel is called Cooky and she hates it when I leave the room. She makes noise until I get back. Cockatiels are such messy birds and sometimes I think she makes a mess because she wants to just to be annoying. It sounds like you are a bit sad but don't worry, there are a flock of parrots who have made their home in London and they are escapees. Maybe your bird will start a colony of Cockatiels where you are. We can only hope!

When my cockatiels partner of 18 yrs.died ,he stopped eating ,so I put an old T.V .plus a fire stick in my bird room and put this video on all day .He started to eat straight away.You saved his life as we are both too old to have another bird ,or I will have the same problem when he dies .

Took my tiels for a shower and put this on to see if it would simulate a flock bath. They seem to enjoy it!
