We have seen him at big venues but totally love him at smaller venues. He always comes out to interact with the fans. We have seen him several times at the Rythym Room in Phoenix. Love them!!

First I discovered Eric Clapton. Then along came John Mayer. And now I am happy to have found Coco Montoya! My top 3 blues guitarists right there ladies and Gentleman.

Clapton to Mayer. That's quite a gap there. Did you miss Hendrix, Beck, Page, or ????. Oh. Unless you are talking later days Clapton of the 70's. and beyond. Then nevermind. I'm old.

Saw him live at Rhythm Room in Phoenix, AZ. Drove six hours one way just to see him, well worth it. Great musicians and great people. Easy to talk to, not arrogant.

Christian Pillalaza.. I'm a new fan. My best bud and bandmate opened two shows for him last month when Coco played the Philly area. I never heard of him before. Then we covered this song last night at a gig.

From the 1st time I heard Coco play in the mid '80s with John Mayall in Seattle I have the loved the guys tone and playing. I have seen him many times since he came to my attention both as still a part of the Mayall Blues Breakers and also as a solo artist and that wonderful tone is always still there. Kudos and keep playing!

...with Walter Trout too, right? Best band Mayall ever had
@illbarry3 ай бұрын
@@robomaster4882 Trout played with Mayall when Coco did also, but I never saw Trout play. Trout has some very good playing, no doubt, but their tones are different. Coco, at least to me has a way of building his solos up to a crescendo that works with his tone. It's 2 different ways of playing similar in a sense to when Dicky Betts and Dwaine Allman. I've only heard Allman in recordings and in those liked Dickey more, I also saw Dicky play many times and each time was different.

@@illbarryThey were both in Mayall's band in the mid 80's. They can be heard the first time together on his "Live Behind the Iron Curtain" album. And more after. As usual, Mayall gets these great guitarists and then they embark on solo careers after a short stay. I saw them in San Francisco at a club show. It was awesome. Then much later at a blues show where Coco and Trout were separate opening acts for Mayall headlining. Of course there was a reunion jam later in the show with his current members. As for who is better or best that's all subjective and I don't go there. I just enjoy all of the great music out there by these, and other great musicians.

@@robomaster4882 I saw Mayall mid 80's and Trout was not with them. Who is on what album is an entirely different subject. I saw ABB one summer when Jack Pearson was in the touring band and both Dicky and he played Fender Stats all night. Dicky had a short lived feud with Gibson and was refusing to play on anything made by Gibson. That same tour Dicky did play his old gold top, but he didn't at the Gorge in George, Washington.
