Imagine writing and recording this song, then deciding it's not good enough to be anything other than a B-side. That's when you know your band has achieved near perfection.

I never noticed that scene in the movie when the light from the lighthouse watch tower landing on the icicle and then the icicle falling (1:30) foreshadowing Harvey's death. Even though he wasn't caught, the eye of god sees everything and justice was delivered. If it wasn't actually in the move, it should have been.

The first time I heard this song, I was stunned. I'd watch The Lonely Bones because of this song. I kept it in my mind so, when I gave the life to my daughter, I named her Alice. A shinny and sparkling little girl, a very emotive and fragile little girl, a complex little girl, like the voice of Elizabeth Fraser.

I did the same thing. I cried heavy sobs of sorrow mixed with the peerless joy from knowing that I was experiencing the beauty of being human by experiencing genuine profound emotion. Elizabeth Fraser is undeniably the "voice of God". We are so fortunate to have known her during our lifetime. She opened a path leading into my darkness as well as my Light. Which is her gift to those of us fortunate enough to be able to realize how special she is because, only by becoming one with our deepest blackest emotions, are we able to know the greatest love, joy and happiness! So beautiful!

Diane Ashcroft-RedfernDear Diane, I am 46 and at 45 I started noticing that the life long work I've been doing on myself, to fix my own brokenness, is finally starting to come to fruition! There has been, more than one occasion, where I have found myself crying; not because I was still broken, but because it took me 45 years to become unbroken! At 45 I found myself crying at the fact that I was finally reacting in a healthy manner to some of life's unpleasant and unhappy surprises! Then, quite curiously, while still in the midst of crying, I found myself suddenly laughing! Laughing at the thrill of recognizing the difference! I'm writing a book that tells all of the intimate details of my childhood and how my alcoholic, diabetic (type 1) mother broke me. She died when I was 21, and I have been in therapy ever since. I just had my regular Wednesday therapy appointment this afternoon, and it helped me, just as it always does, on my continued journey to become a better, healthier and happy person. I owe my good fortune of self love and compassion to the Cocteau Twins and 20+ years of therapy! You are never too old to become a better, happy and healthy person! You can do it too, Diane! My book is called, How to Bring a Blush to the Snow. I named it after the Cocteau Twins song, and each chapter of my story is titled with a fitting Cocteau Twins song. I did this as a way to honor them. My mother's name is Carolyn so I have, of course, titled an early chapter, "Carolyn's Fingers". It is so apropos, since my mother was in a fire when I was four years old, which burned away most of her right arm, but left her delicate fingers untouched. Diane, perhaps you will find my true story of deep childhood brokenness to be of some help to you, on your own journey of self healing and compassion. My email is platinumfiresong (at) gmail (dot) com and if you would like to read my story, I would love to give you a copy, when it is finished. It's true, that I am writing my story to help myself, but more than anything, my desire is to help others, who have also known deep suffering, in that dark painful place. The hell in which I spent most of my life, never truly living, just barely surviving. If I can ease someone else's pain, I will have truly lived a complete life! Sincerely, Elizabeth

I didn't know Peter Jackson was involved with the Lovely Bones! I guess in certain cases ignorance truly is bliss. But I will always hold this movie in my heart of hearts because it is about that which is the essence of all hearts and all souls... This movie is about LOVE! The parents love for their children. I was an uncherished child and I am filled with the bitter sweet joy of being able to recognize the most beautiful unconditional love of family, only because I forever longed for the love my Mother never had for me. But now I know real love and am overflowing with unconditional love for all who need it the most. My ability to love is triumphant! I read the book The Lovely Bones by Alice Seibold years before the movie came out and it immediately became one of my favorites. The movie was a sincere honor to the book. I think they are both outstanding in their own rights! I'm so glad I found such beauty in this often unpleasant world. The Lovely Bones (book and movie) is unmatched and can never be done better. Peter Jackson deserves only praise. Thank you for letting me know that I need to thank him! Cheers!

+Elizabeth Polucha Your comment made me cry lol. I understood what you meant. My mother is a selfish, self centered person. She abused me and my younger sister, but luckily I had my grandmother to fill that void. My younger sister however, had only our great aunt who died from cancer when we were little, and my mother's sister who was an alcoholic prostitute. She is, and has been an unloved person her whole life. And is a very bitter person who is very afraid to be alone. I feel so guilty sometimes because I had someone to love me whereas she had my mother who is incapable f love, and the misguided efforts of an elderly, but beautiful women. And a women who was incapable of loving herself, but had the potential to be a good mother. Very, very sad. But such is life I suppose :) I am so glad you are so well adjusted and so beautiful :) I hope the universe showers you with love and happiness :)

Destiny Webb, thank you for your comment. What you wrote to me about the universe showering me with love and happiness made me cry because I have always felt I didn't deserve those things because I was never given them by anyone. My grand parents passed away when I was very little and no one took me away from my mother so I was forced to endure over 18 years of abuse and her constant brain washing. She told me everyday that I was never wanted, that she wished I was never born, that I was worth nothing, and no one would ever want me or love me. She told me that I was ugly and stupid and the only reason I was born was to take care of her. She was an alcoholic diabetic (type 1) and was in the hospital nearly once a week. She died when I was 21 and after she died I felt that I no longer served a purpose in this world. That was 24 years ago and I'm still suffering from what she did to me at times. Even now I have a boyfriend who one moment tells me he loves me, then the next says he doesn't care about me and I should leave. I only have love for him. I can't turn off my love like a light switch. My love is forever and I know I will always love him no matter what but it still hurts a lot to feel completely unloved. I'm working on a book about my childhood abuse which has been one of the most difficult things I have ever done. It hurts so much to put down on paper the truth of my past but just to be able to connect with someone else, (like you and your sister), who has also been in that dark unloved place, makes the pain of remembering so very worth it. Thank you for reminding me of what is really important and that my reason for being and my true path in this life is to tell my story and give hope to those who are still scared and suffering in their dark place. I've always told myself to never give up and you have given me renewed hope at a time when I was feeling that dark place creeping in around me. I will never forget your kind inspiring words and I wish the universe showers you with love and happiness as well! In earnest, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Polucha Thank you so much Elizabeth, you are truly a beautiful soul. And I hope one day karma returns what you deserve :) I truly believe those who are kind, and think of others will be rewarded in kind. I hope that comes soon for you, you deserve better. I understand that when you blame yourself and believe hurtful words, you will never forget them. But I hope you truly realize one day that you are not what your mother thought of you, but so much more than she could realize because she was damaged. And she saw in you someone or something she did not possess or was not capable of becoming, and was ashamed. I hope you never lose your insatiable love, but I truly wish for you the love that you give to be returned. From kindred soul to kindred, I wish for you fulfillment. I am so very glad that we connected with each other and both found some inspiration in the other :) I wish for you to find contentment and solace, truly :) Destiny :)
