This was just my thought on what if they were not affected by those Geneva convention
@Sk8foxx6 жыл бұрын
MW2 had this crazy intense vibe to it that made you feel like you were in this real war, like you were a soldier fighting for your life and those around you, at least during the Ranger missions (or usmc in cod4). U weren't a fictional character with a name and a backstory inevitably meant to save the world, you were a soldier taking up arms to defend your country, and that was first and foremost. Made me wanna play the game as if I were there, and not just run and gun on regular difficulty.
@graithen89556 жыл бұрын
Oran Cassidy Geneva convention goes out the window as soon as people choose not to follow it. And there is a lot of precedent for massacres of civilians. Check out the Japanese invasion of China for a modern look at the atrocities invading armies can commit. Also if the situation is dire enough, civilians are encouraged to defend themselves.

xd Blanket Everyone played it though. Everyone knows about No Russian. Is not playing a mission supposed it invalidate its content or something? You see, what you just gave me was a flawed argument. It doesn’t do anything to disprove the point I made. Tell any random person with no experience in the CoD franchise about these two things and ask what they find more disturbing, guarantee most people will say massacring an airport is worse.
@TheBlackjesus10265 жыл бұрын
Crazimo Wouldn’t it just make more sense to call it even at both are disturbing to the common people? Yeah, it’s pretty F’d up to have a mission where you gun down defenseless civilians in cold blood like No Russian but when you’re playing as someone like Ramirez whose goal is to protect the city and the civilians who live there, you get both sides of the picture. And the part where Overlord is saying how civilians are having to take up arms against highly trained killing machines like the invading Russian army, it makes sense to get the chills because your imagination takes it to a level so highly messed up that it could make someone sick. Personally, I wasn’t offended by either No Russian or these cut dialogue quotes because I think both were written in a great way to really kick start the story line in an awesome direction after CoD 4. Everyone has an opinion, much like how everyone has an asshole. He felt these quotes were more disturbing than No Russian, and you felt No Russian was more disturbing. And myself? I think that Loose Ends was the most disturbing because there is no way in hell that Shepherd didn’t shoot through the ASM when he shot Roach. So the flawed logic was most disturbing for me. Now we’ve all said our piece. Let’s just enjoy the awesome trivia of these cut quotes and imagine how different the game would’ve been had they kept them in.

I'm not the type of man that can be disturbed easily, in the No Russian mission I didn't felt anything weird or special, but this is just an extremely unsettling scenario. Some say that because you don't see it it doesn't has the same impact, but just hearing it, for me is worst because you can imagine. The voice actor did a really good job in being calm to going in absolute despair, especially after the part of the civilians taking arms. MW2 may have a incoherent story or whatever, but the details are amazing.

That's because you have to imagine it instead of seeing it. When you play No Russian, you're seeing civilians die but they're all polygons and coding. You just honestly feel like you're playing a game. Hearing the civilians literally suffering and dying as the evac site gets turned into an American slaughterhouse is actively making you imagine what's going on inside. You're imagining it with real people, which is a frightening thought to have in your head.

I saw you responded to a recent comment so I'll add to your original post. I don't think it helps that all the Russian speaking in No Russian is muted and quiet. So all the civilian, security and FSB lines don't stick out to the player. It just sounds like more gibber-gabber that's easy to filter out. But here and the radio playing constantly broadcasting in your ears up front at you, screaming for help and putting the thought that you aren't doing enough to help. If you "don't do enough" on No Russian the mission just keeps playing on like a cutscene. *You don't really DO anything.* At least not until you fight the FSB. So you can finish No Russian thinking to yourself, "I'm damn near a saint next to those guys." And continue on the campaign, essentially washing your hands of the objective. Again, in Of Their Own Accord. You HAVE to give your all or those people will die and it will be *YOUR fault*. That's just my idea of why I felt more here than No Russian. Because I had similar feelings.

Perhaps the most terrifying part is just how real it is, let us not take for granted the freedom we have, paid for in blood by those before us.

@TheAverageSushi5 жыл бұрын
I hate how you can hear the combat going on in the background. You don't hear it at first. As Combat Effectiveness drops, the Russians are pushing the Rangers back. As the Rangers lose ground, you can hear gunfire and shells. Then you can hear gunfire gets more distinguishable and then civilians shouting. It's a bit disturbing. - Sure, "No Russians" was pretty...fked...But just hearing the voices of people and a radio operator panicking is just real fked. Great job by Activision and the Voice Actor(s).

Yeah I feel the same way when ATC reports Russian fighter pilots in mission Wolverines Where he says" I'm looking at fighter jets over I-35" "how the hell did they get in?!?"you can here the panic in his voice and the air raid sirens going off it's really disturbing . Oh please, with a mission like No Russian in the campaign
@reidlindsey48386 жыл бұрын
ramO 1995 so true. Pretty sure some background dialogue wouldn’t be much of a concern compared to No Russian. It might’ve acted as a way to make you fail the mission once the soldiers on the radio are overrun but it would be too much dialogue to squeeze in a short timeframe that it would seem too fast or it would be too long. Or maybe another part to the mission?
@reidlindsey48386 жыл бұрын
I wonder if they will make the no Russian mission optional in the mw2 remaster again or remove or change it to avoid any type of backlash. Hopefully they will keep it cuz its such an insane mission from the campaign. Besides, they make it optional and if you play the mission, you don’t even have to shoot anyone to finish the mission. You can just walk through the airport and you won’t fail the mission. This was to make it where you aren’t forced to do anything, but it works for the story too since you’re a spy. Also, the shootings in real life still happen, and the mission shouldn’t be removed cuz they happen more often. This mission was questioned when it first came out so people already know what the big deal is with it, not like it’s gonna be some huge bomb shell.

If only it was included in the full retail. Modern Warfare 2 already broke the expectation and mold of military shooters with No Russian, and this just made it real. I honestly did NOT expect to hear the marine report that civilians took up arms in spite of being untrained. The realism literally just settled on me, which says a LOT about how terrifyingly genuine that voice line sounds when someone who enjoys senselessly killing hundreds of thousands of in-game characters and avatars as a form of enjoyment. I'm honestly jaded by the current lineup of Call of Duty and Battlefield games since they all feel like 3-star overly cinematic movies. I'm amazed that a simple string of voice lines that's meant to be simple background audio, invoked way more fear, immersion and remorse than anything that was made in this day and age.

Near the end of losing the civilians, you actually can hear pistols going off, presumably to me, execution of the civilians. This honestly got chilling and scary. F to pay respects.

They probably dialed back the dialogue due to the air port scene controversy people would probably look at it as “morbid” but I think it’s a good view on direct casualties of war for those whom choose not to act still a good watch tho

Yeah this isn't what the game was about. Gripping sound clip, but not fitting for this game.

Nah man, this was relased alongside the No Russian, this was before all the people getting "offended". During this, treyarch portrayed an almost true vision to war for the public
@vanguard6165 жыл бұрын
@@cooldude2251 Not to be offensive, but I think you are missing some context... You (U.S. soldier) are being invaded by Russians (RU, from now on) because a C.I.A mole was discovered (No Russian ( the RU airport massacre))while infiltrating a terrorist organization. During this part of the mission, you help protect an extraction site composed MAINLY of CIVILIANS and a couple of US soldiers against a large force of RU soldiers with tanks and helos at their disposal. I'm pretty sure that, for a minor detail, it was very well placed and very fitting as it shows a human side of people during war, not everyone, even soldiers, has nerves of steel.

To be fair that’s the appropriate reaction any ranger would make trying to save civilians. The moment all your men (who were trained) are down, and Civilians take weapons to try to defend themselves is the moment any man or women would lose their composure due to the fact that no one responds to their calls for assistance... and at some point, reinforcement who either are held up outside by gunfire or more likely dead trying to help. Either way this was long but it’s what anyone would also do.
