The thing I love about this trend of "turning childhood into singing Eldritch horrors" is the fact that most of these are based on the downfall and saturation of the characters and their worlds. The charm that made them so beloved is gone and all they can do is sing their frustrations as the place they call home deteriorates over time. Becoming the embodiment of the world's flaws and the mistakes made by their creators.

[0:20] - [0:25] Like how Oranges' face is sad and depressed, really like that detail, and I absolutely loved this little animation all through out. And the shot where Apple looks up at the vortex of rotten and dead fruits, absolutely spectacular, he even has the 100 yard stare!

Ok but like, Orange looking genuinely sorrowful makes me think that he (like Apple) also doesn't want to believe their legacy is over. (This is gonna be super wordy sry, I've been a huge fan of AO since I was a kid) It'd be pretty in character for Annoying orange after all, he was always proud of his webseries. And who wouldn't be?! Annoying Orange had a CN show, comic books (6 of them, and I have them all), lots of merchandise, videogames, celebrity cameos (tom kenny, jim cummings, rob paulsen, to name a few). And (while he had a questionable way of showing it) Orange loved his friends and would do anything for them (except shut up i guess). But alas, as Orange would probably say. His taste has soured, he is past his prime, his reputation now stinks like moldy fruit. To put it simply, the longer the Annoying Orange show was left forgotten, the more rancid and stale it became. I can't imagine how devastated Orange was when he witnessed his fame, his closest friends, and himself decompose. Everything that meant so much to him, his very reason of existence, was dying in front of his very eyes, and Orange couldn't do anything about it. Much like how no matter how many time he warns those unfortunate victims in his videos, they always die. Orange blames himself, wishing he somehow could've done more, could've done better, could've done anything to keep the only life he has ever known alive, to keep his friends alive. Basically the 5 stages of grief. But eventually, Orange accepts his fate. And now he needs to get Apple to accept it too. *Their Legacy Is Over.*

Out of every lyric segment in recent fnf songs, this one feels the most impactful, other than Silly Billy this one felt depressing in a way, all good things must come to an end, in fact you can replace the annoying orange with almost anything that lost traction or garnered any sort of hat for “falling off” and it could work with this song And you managed to make it truly a grand spectacle as you always do

For me it's the fact that Apple sings after Orange sings "it's over" the first time, like he's really trying to fight back against it and not wanting to go away like everyone else. Then he starts getting lowered as Orange softly repeats "it's over", like he's trying to calmly let his old friend know it's time to move on. Fits well with your point about things falling off and losing popularity with time. Surprisingly deep for a one-off mod about an old web show

It might seem silly, but I think this song has a sad message. It's about how the Annoying Orange transformed itself into a brand made to appease the needs of a soulless algorithm that feeds on money and not passion. It also represents how KZbin itself became a corporation and now goes against everything it once used to stand for: community and creativity. Much like the orange, the website is a husk of it's former self. Much like the fruit, *their legacy is over.*
