As a young scratcher I first found my eyes on this "Scratch" 3 years ago and ever since ive been making my own games. Eventually me and my nerd friends starting to hear about the legend of scratch titled "Griffpatch" when I got home (this was 2 years ago) I went onto scratch and found some amazing projects. I saw in the description this legend had a youtube channel and ever since I have made every game, followed every tutorila adding my own little spin to it, then I saw this tutorial, this is the best one by far. I dont know why I like it so much, but seems others think the same thing, I personally like it because the mix of the perfect amount of education,silliness, and best of all, good explaination. Sometimes my firend says "He takes a long time for 1 tutorial" but I always reply with "Well thats just so you can work side by side him, like a free tutor." but on a serious level, keep up the good work, I absolutley love you videos.

scrolling platformers are quite a pain to play because your eyes need to catch the whole screen instead of just the player but they are still good

For a recomendation: create another sprite for the lava and copy the code, make a list named "LavaScene" and include all the scenes with lava. Then put: if LavaScene contains Scene# then: and the code of the lava shown in the video. This makes it easier to include different lava scenes in the same code

I am the friend of the maker of the project in 21:02 , I've watched my friend get to the next level you were stuck with, and found out that you actually have to crouch on that round slope to continue and then jump once you get to the next scene, and after six months of updating, it looks way better than before! I use a cool combination of pixilate and ghost effect: Clear Effects Repeat 10 times change pixilate by 50 change ghost by 10. it is really cool you can also add an explosion at the end to boost it up a ton.

So for my death effect, I made a variable called "repeat" and I made a custom block called [Death effect. Repeat: (repeat?) Times and effect by (effect)]. So I put the repeat variable in the first input and for the second input, I did 100/repeat so the effect can fade out fully.

Hey, Griffpatch, this series is great but i have found a small problem. I was following episode 4 where slopes were introduced, and it seems that with slopes of steep angles (but not too steep), you can stand on the slope by jumping into it. Hey I just figured out a way that you can restart without going back to the start! just create 2 variables, set begin level (level) and start at x: (start x) y: (start y) and at the flag set level to 1, start x and start y to the desired position!
