Typically code blue alarms inside of rooms will have a light out of the room flashing or there will be a announcement, and then when someone phones it to page the code team it will announce it over the entire hospital.

So a blood sugar is collected on all patients after a code, not just diabetics? Also, I assume you have to check code status before beginning compressions-- which may mean leaving the room if you are working in a nursing home, for example.. How would that ideally be handled?

Some code sheets require it. Codes are run completely differently outside the hospital setting. You wouldn’t leave the room - you would delegate this to another nurse or CNA.
