This show is one of the many that represents what I like to call, "The Golden age of Cartoons". It was this show and many others that helped me cope through some tough times in my childhood and i'm glad so many people still remember it.

same bro. Was living with my mom who didn't work and was an alcoholic at the time. Her boyfriend was a literal psychopath and killed my cat. In and out of prison but from a rich jewish family and knew the police well so even though he was beating my mom everyday in front of me he basically got away with it most of the time. Just like 1 year in prison for that and drug dealing. Anyways yeah I watched Code Lyoko religiously at this time after school. Bad times, but this show stopped me from suffering more.

Back when Cartoon Network actually took risks and not played it safe for younger generations. That is when it truly succeeded. Ben 10, Generator Rex, and yes Code Lyoko all took risks to make things dark and not just “kid friendly” and made the viewers think and contemplate their decisions. The only cartoons that do this now are The Owl House as far as I can think of. We wanted the animators to take darker routes, it’s what kept us invested. We did want just “der her her, funny” we wanted “haha, wait what” . The new generation doesn’t understand the greatness we had that made us, we felt connected to these cartoons and that’s what kept us coming back even decades later. So do me a favor, show your kids, nieces and nephews, young cousins, hell even the kid of a friend cartoons like this one and ask them if they prefer this old classic or the new trash. I can’t be the only one who feels this way.

I just rewatched it in English instead of Finnish because I wanted to know what was different and it gave me nostalgia vibes and reminded of many things that happened when I was younger.
