This is so great, I agree with so many things mentioned here. I started on up-work some 2 months ago, landed two jobs...earned almost $2k. Client-retention is key so my advice would be to keep believing in yourself, GOD and continually improve on your written communication and people skills.

@@ndz7372 The thing is, I am 19 year old high school graduate, I don't have any diploma or degree. However, I spent a year looking out for what is it that I want to do! From Quantum Mechanics to Evolutionary Psychology, i explored basics of everything and right now I am at data science. I love math and coding, I feel like I have a special interest in Machine learning and A.I. compared any other field. But the issue is, How do I accumulate real world experience so I can jump into Freelancing or get a remote entry level job? Should I grind Kaggle?
@ndz73722 жыл бұрын
@@manjindersinghsaini911 Accumulate real world experience by freelancing, just start! Whether it's a BI tool (e.g. power bi), helping students with ML related assignments, there are people that need your help all over Upwork. Learn an in demand skill - whether it's academic writing, data entry, excel, just pick any that you think you have a knack for and start, slowly and surely, you'll build your portfolio and get gigs on Upwork. Get someone to help you review and highlight your skills on your profile. No one really cares about your diploma or degree or work experience if you can help. So keep browsing jobs, attend Upwork community events, learn, learn and learn, you're well on your way to becoming a good freelancer.

Very nice! Great tips, and very honest guidelines from the interviewee. I liked the tips about the right timing to send proposals and customize your proposal for each job. I totally agree. I too became a top rated freelancer on upwork within 4 months. Currently I'm a top-rated plus freelancer there. I work on tech educational content, with emphasis on machine learning and web design. When starting out, I had more or less similar experiences. I would love to share some of my own tips too. For example, when sending proposals, make sure to share similar tasks that you have done before. In the beginning, I used to even create content after looking at a job description, just so that I could send it as a sample task that Ive done before. Also, up front communication with the client is very important. Be transparent and don't pretend to know more than what you actually know. You don't exactly need to know everything. Even today I'm still learning. I've recently discovered the Codebasics channel, and its helping me get back to basics and understand the internal details of machine learning algorithms. Thanks!
