20)To ignore some files to track in git repository i) -> Create text file named ".gitignore" using command (if not exist): touch .gitignore ii)-> Add the name of the file to be ignore in .gitignore file 21)To ignore every file based on extension ii) -> Write *. in the .gitignore file example : if we want to ignore all files having .log extension open .gitignore file and add " *.log " in that file. 22)To ignore folder inside git repository ii) -> Write / in the .gitignore file example : if we want to ignore all folder named "dir" inside git repository open .gitignore file and add " dir/ " in that file. 23)To ignore outer folder inside git repository ii) -> Write // in the .gitignore file example : if we want to ignore outer folder named "dir" inside git repository open .gitignore file and add " /dir/ " in that file.

jo files hidden hoti hai like .DS_store which is not hiding by writing. .DS_Store in the ignore file.

I tried adding a file to gitignore but the file is still being tracked. Then I untracked the file first by running "git reset file_name" command then adding the file to gitignore but that also doesn't seem to work, what should I do? How can I add it to the gitignore?

Hi, I got confused between tutorials 7 & 10. LIKE in tutorial 7 we just add error.log in gitignore & if we are doing any changes it's not showing to us but in lecture 10 y we need to run git rm --cached after adding a file to gitignore?

bcz in tutorial 7 the file error.log is untracked(from starting).Whenever in tutorial 10 the file(from started it is tracked after it had ignored).
