yo im pretty confident that i have deciphered these lyrics lol. i personally enjoy the mental exercise so im not ashamed of this and haters dont mean shit to me so bring it on lmao. "swimming like a toad, keep it low like your poison get it get it low and keep it like you know you dont know" first of all this song is addressed to himself and is an inner monologue about his lifestyle. swimming like a toad seems to just be speaking very plainly to the drudgery of his lifestyle, its lackluster if you will. keep it low like your poison seems to be an expression of wisdom which is about being subtle. poison might be a reference to a substance of preference which has a similar symbolic wisdom. for example i prefer marijuana and that particular herb teaches us to stay calm and not to react and become entangled with our environment. get it get it low and keep it like you know seems to be reinforcing the wisdom of being incognito and "you dont know" then sets up the journey that follows as he acknowledges the limitations of those choices thus far and begins to emerge from the swamp. "Long nosed serpent spitting fire Haze closes in temperature gets higher What will you do without the freedom to sing Fighting for whats honest" the long nosed serpent is the first antagonist of the journey which i believe represents the forces of nature behind second guessing. being confronted with the unknown and its ability to "sniff out" your weaknesses. "haze closes in temp gets higher" sets the tone for the battle with the serpent and its intensity. "what will you do without the freedom to sing" im pretty sure is a question being asked by the serpent from a state of arrogance. the serpent believing it will win knows that codfish's failure to succeed would destroy his confidence and sense of purpose and all other foundations for his talent and self motivation. "fighting for whats honest" seems to be speaking to a desire to be authentic rather than disenginuine which is one of the convolutions that come out of staying hidden. can you hide and be authentic at the same time? "Your christened blade rusts and clings To a hope that the cherished tone rings and Cuts the tongue off the red long nosed serpent, your king" the christened blade is his talent with beatboxing i think and it is indicated that the self doubt is represented by its rusting and being somewhat ineffective while its clinging to the hope is the effort to keep the spirit of that music alive in himself. coming from a religious background im going to go out on a limb and assume that the cherished tone could be like what some call the presence of the holy spirit but it could be better described as his own unique vibration or "song" which has the power to remove any obstacle. it would seem then that it does indeed for SUCCESS he manages to silence the serpent! "A green moss it brings a rough rhythm to the springs A place where light is rare As you stumble on by, keep it low Natures little helpers bend and sigh Their eyes rude they spy on all kinds of things The horizon carries on its protruding back a rainbow with wings A pillar of tremendous worry that you'll never bring The pouch your neighbor gifted you contains many things Legs rubber and molding Its time to break through the rough curse of tither For the children who need truth Hither too, you hope to find a tune At the bottom of this eerie bog to croon And carry you past the winged rainbow and through To the moon swimming like a toad, keep it low like your poison" gonna try to keep this part short. the green moss speaks to "greener pastures" which is renewed hope and enthusiasm. the springs rough rhythm is simply the lack of "smooth sailing" but overall the place of hopelessness is left behind. as the true journey has just begun theres not much light but its enough to illuminate the path ahead. he stumbles along and having the wisdom of hardship keeps his head low and himself out of trouble. best to rebuild strength rather than get tangled up with the misery of the "natures little helpers" who bend and sigh at their disappointing lives having not gone further themselves and whos eyes spy on all kinds of things (jealousy and envy) they wish they had. the tone now moves toward the horizon, looking forward, to a heavenly sign of promise. renewed confidence is expressed in that no worries can be brought to sway him on his path. the pouch is symbolic of wisdom and perhaps knowledge which he now realizes will aid him in his journey. he becomes aware that his legs are rubber and stagnant from lack of use like the wobbly legs of a toddler as he learns to walk. he prepares himself to push forward for the final phase of the journey which results in breaking the curse so long lived under (im american so i dont understand the meaning of tither but i assume its got something to do with being subordinate to "the beast") for the sake of being a beacon of light and hope for those "children" who have none to guide them. i think in closing he is describing the creative process (which is like his therapy - "croon and carry") quite possibly of this very "tune" we have been serenaded with. he seeks to draw from his lifes seemingly dreary experiences for inspiration to create this song. the tune being a product of his beatbox talent is his tool for transportation to the intended destination. i would like to leave the meaning of the moon itself a mystery. for she is a terrible one who will not tolerate malfeasance. finally as all good stories go, it ends where it begins, bringing us back to the original wisdom which now takes on greater meaning as it becomes subtly apparent that despite all progress, there is yet to be known to most a place where one has truly emerged from the swampy waters of chaos which in fact has an incredibly profound esoteric meaning which i wont get into here. sorry, not sorry. this is an incredible and truly beautiful story which admittedly almost brought me to tears more than once. it was a real pleasure revealing what i believe to be its true meaning and i hope yall enjoyed this too. if not, well no one likes you anyway XD JK
