Looking nice! I'm also about to make a "Minecraft clone" (Blocky Build) under an MIT license and it is open-source.

what do you do if you need to get chunk data from a chunk that hasnt loaded yet? ive been stuck on that problem for a while, and if you could tell me how you did it that would be very helpful

Yah I might, but I also like that it generates cool mountains

Cool video. You say that after adding perlin noise your chunk generation slowed down that should not be the case maybe try simplex noise. But without profiling its impossible to know why it is slow.
@CarboneDev7 сағат бұрын
Ok, I'll profile it and see if the perlin noise is really the issue or not, thanks!

Very cool video, though I do not get why people are so obsessed with voxel game engines, Minecraft is the only successful game I know made in this style, and theres already thousands of youtube videos doing this.
@CarboneDevКүн бұрын
Voxel engines are just a very good practice project, as they are very technical and have a ton of optimizations you have to do to get it running with a good fps. But I agree, not the most original idea.

It's a great exercise in game engine programming and graphics programming, I noticed most of the videos do not present any gamplay programming.
