The Yankees need bullpen help far more than they need an infielder. If they give up anything of quality for an infield help that player better be damn good. But pitching is what is really needed. With only a bunch of 4 or 5 inning starters we beed a lot of quality bullpen arms. I fear the Yankees have morphed into a bunch of Mr. Mays and I do not mean Willies. This bull pen is a dumpster fire. in fact, right now so are the starters. Actually the entire team is a dumpster fire. Some derrières are in sore need of being kicked. Too much style and too little performance. What the hell is this big celebration of a home run when you are 5 or 6 runs behind?

Bellinger at first base makes sense. Doesn’t necessarily mean that the Ben Rice era is over, just that he may have to wait before he gets his shot. I think Rizzo is on the downside of his career. Depends on what the Yankees are willing to give up.

He's not having a great season, His power numbers are nothing amazing, but yeah we are desperate right now. This is very much a win now team. Bellinger is making 16.1 million/year. This is mostly a salary dump for the Cubs. given the relatively low likelihood of the Cubs making the postseason. I don't think he would cost Spencer Jones or Dominguez. If they require 1 of them... Go kick rocks. If the Yankees do need to trade either of those players, it needs to be for a big producer right now, not what he has done at his peak. Rizzo is pretty much gone at this point. Who knows if he will be able to swing the bat again with any authority. He certainly hasn't this season when he was "healthy"(who knows with the concussion) As tough as it is to do, they need to fold on Rizzo and improve 1b production if we can. I like Ben Rice. He deserves a chance, but he needs polishing, and we need production now. Bellinger can play all 3 outfield positions to go along with first. That flexibility is nice to have. I was thinking, maybe it would benefit the lineup if Judge and Soto swapped in the lineup. This would be the only way we can protect Judge. Some pitchers/managers are choosing to pitch around Judge, and his number of hittable pitches per at bat are dropping. Soto walks a ton anyway. I don't think his approach would be affected if he was the 1 being pitched around. I wouldn't even think about messing with this, but something needs to change to get the early lead again. Verdugo is ice cold, and let's be honest, even when he was red hot, Judge won't get much to his. It's too easy to pitch to the Yankees when 60% of the lineup is flirting with a .200 BA and no power. This is not a bottom-of-the-lineup, it's more than half the lineup. That's like giving a pitcher 2 innings off. It puts too much pressure on the top 4 players to score all the runs. Hopefully, we don't fall too far before the trade deadline, and Cashman has his chance to prove up to the challenge of revamping this putrid infield, and somehow acquire some pitching that Baltimore doesn't swallow given their number of high-end prospects compared to ours. BTW through this awful stretch can we stop and recognize the greatness of Judge on his way to ANOTHER Ruth-type season. Outside of the steroid era, in modern baseball, and in this 97+ MPH middle relief period of baseball, It would be unfathomable to think that Judge can give us not 1, but 2 potentially cartoon offensive seasons...and he's playing good centerfield. He may be a bargain at the "overpaid" price Cashman had to pony up. Judge may be the best player in my lifetime...and he's our player. I think Ohtani will end up missing too many innings during his tenure to outdo what Judge is overall.I do wish Judger would wear that hand guard we see some players wearing, or even the Barry Bonds front arm package. Sorry for the book report. I'm rather frustrated watching this team go into this death spiral.

I'm going to expand my take. there's a lot of panickers out there right now. And I understand their concerns. But this is not the 2022 Yankees. We have Juan Soto. We have a better team. just need a few pieces to plug in some holes and bring up some of our minor league talent. The issue was a few of talented players like durbin , Vivas, Dominguez and Chase Hampton are all hurt. But look out vivas is getting hot and if he keeps going he will be here soon enough

I believe we need an infield there and a couple bats to bring up the averages and balance toward the bottom of the order. They need to give Wells some real looks consistently to be able to see if he's going to be a catcher of the future. we already know Trevino isn't so what are you waiting for.? It would be nice to address third base but but the options are limited. we need a lefty reliever. A couple bats infielder and let's see what else. I do believe the rest can come from our system. Jack Neely for one. He's been really good so far in AAA. we have Effros And JT brubaker back soon. I heard brubakers throwing 95 mph plus.

Problem is they need more than upgrade at 1 position. 3B, 2B, 1B AND LF have to start contributing on offense. They don't have to be stars but they have to stop being total Zero's ! They keep getting guys in scoring position and then-Double Play or 3 outs. Those positions have been Horrible !

A Lefty who has power in Yankee Stadium also an advantage - He has 9 so far this season, put his home Games at the Stadium, he can hit a few more. Having played on a Championship Team - Always helps - In '96 The Yankees had Cone, Key, O'Neill, Strawberry - All had won a championship to that point - Certainly didn't hurt. Going into this video - I checked his numbers - .271 Avergage, .331 OBP - Solid - Outside of Judge, Soto and Volpe (Stanton is hurt right now if you want throw him in), offensively is over anyone else in the lineup currently. As I said, if the price isn't too high - He can help, and if he opts back in - You can have either your First Baseman or Centerfielder for next season at age 29. I don't see a downside.

I don;t think long term Rice 1st base situation changes..there is no guarantee we sign Soto,,so our outfield next year Dominguez Bellinger Judge.. not bad..if we sign Soto Bellinger stays at first...Soto leaves -30mil Torres Leaves -14Mil Verdugo Leaves -10mil..we add 27 lose 54mil..now we still will need a 2B and 3B and and hopefully can find some young guys to add to the team..so Rice future at 1B hangs on Soto not Belllinger...

@@fernandoposada5440 Well don't forget about the fact that whenever it comes to the Yankees, teams will try to propose ridiculous trades in a attempt to get every top prospect but will turn around and accept a lesser package from another team. They've shown a willingness to spend recently, they dodged a bullet thankfully not getting Snell and they offered Yamamoto 300 million dollars which would be more per year actually once the tax penalties are added in. They've been careful about how they're going to spend, Soto is going to be a top priority this off-season and I'm thinking that we might see something unexpected by the deadline. They know that this roster will need a little more help to have a legit shot at the championship this year.

the Yankees need to look at what transpired the past month when they played the Dodgers, Orioles, Mets, Braves and BoSox and see what they need to work on. And go over tape. Do we really need a guy who is only batting .267 with 9 home runs and 34 RBIs, Bellinger? The Yanks need better pitching than going after a hitter cos we got plenty of good hitters in Judge, Volpe and Soto. As of now, we are tied with the O's for first place in the AL East now.

Hello Jason. Every day we keep hearing about all these guys. We definitely need upgrades period. If we can get him without overpaying I would do switch rice to catcher or DH. But if he's not going to play if we get Bellinger keep him playing in minors or trade him for more upgrades who are proven already we need to be proactive and not wait until we have more teams involved. I would hate to lose Trevino. Weak arm but a terrific clutch hitter. I haven't seen Austin Wells hit a high fastball in two years. He needs to adopt an open stance like Kyle Swarber has done.

Jason, WADR my guy, we might be 20+ games above .500 but our immediate performance speaks more to the level of having hit the iceberg straight ahead a.l.a., The SS Titanic on 04/14/1912 but multiple things need improvement. It starts with execution no doubt and then continues with Managerial decision making and also includes player commitment, motivation and psyche. Torres and Trevino are setbacks to this team as is DJ LeMahieu even inspite the talk of him just returning from the IL. He has had time and is a Veteran experienced player. For players like this, a new change of scenery is probably the best thing we could give them.

Trevino is in the 96th percentile in overall fielding value and is having a solid season for a guy we bat 8th. Batting over league average, gonna have 10-15 homers, has multiple clutch hits in his time with the team and has an OPS over .700 This idea that Trevino is hurting the team is nonsense. He had literally one bad game throwing out runners, and nobody bothers to pay attention to Stromans slow delivery being a huge factor. In that game, Trevino was probably to blame for maybe 2 or 3 steals. One throw was played short and relayed back to home, and on most, no catcher would have a shot because the base was basically stolen before they received the ball.
