This is seriously one of my favorite songs. It made me cry the first time I heard it because I have lost both parents and 4 siblings. You never know when you say goodbye to someone if that will be the last time you ever get to talk to or see them. I have already shared this song a couple times on Facebook and Instagram.

July 7th 1997 220pm... My Mom called me... I was super busy, but I took the call and we laughed and spoke about the weekend before and how great it was... 2 hours later, my father called me crying, saying she is gone... She is gone. I heard this song the other day while mowing. It made me think of my life and how much my mother fought for me in school. I was a SLD ( slow learning disability ) student and pulled from my English, Math, classes from 1st grade till 12 grade. I failed numerous grades was held back and humiliated as a little boy. My mother fought every teacher and principal to teach me and to say I was smart but you just have to give me time to learn. I was on ritalin and my high school wanted to give me a piece of paper that said ( I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL) but never finished. My mom refused the principal and during this time I learned to be a self tought 2 handicap in golf. A star track runner, a self tought drummer that can and could play ANYTHING in music. I was told from teachers he will NEVER go to college and I was sitting in the room listening with my mom. She in tears and me listening. She said you don't understand that he is gifted in so many ways but just teach him. I had one teacher that believed in me and him and my mom pushed me and helped me graduate high school. I took up cycling and became a professional mountain bike and held a Pro license in it. I went to a community college and failed and came back home. I tried and my mom later signed me back up and said there is a small college and just try it honey! Just try it one last time for your mama! Please!!! I said o.k. and it was the first time I got a C+ in a class. It started working and low and behold I got my AA degree. I failed several classes along the way but never giving up because my mom. After 4 more years I finally graduated from the University of Florida and at a game one day I ran into the old principal and showed him my college gold ring from UF. I said to him ( You may not remember me but you said I would never be college material but after 6 years I DID GET my degree ). He looked at me as a ghost!!! But I smiled and walked away, I never saw him again but it was good to know he knew. My story is one because I did get a chance to sit down with my mom and thank her for NEVER giving up on her boy. She always said you can do it honey bee, you can do it but it's going to be harder for you! I sat her down one day and gave her my college ring and said this is yours as much as its mine. She wore my ring for me and after some years gave it back. She said we did it, and so as I write this my mom is now slowly going away with Alzheimers disease and it will take her soon. I ended up finding out I had Spinabifida all along. It's what caused my problems. But.....I got to tell my mom "Thank you" for caring for me, for never giving up when I wanted to, for helping with failing in life and to bounce back, for loving me unconditionally, and for being my mom. I got to say it !!! I am at piece with her disease and I told my mom what I wanted to say. She was in tears but I got to say it. You never get back TIME. I miss you already mom!

This song really punches me in the gut.

@@kendrakish6509 Thank you. I hope others do not put off stuff till later...because the people they wish to do the things with may not be around later. As for people saying they are sorry.... many times i feel it is because they just do not know what else to say. Hearing it still is helpful even from strangers. I do worry that my son will be forgotten about as time passes from all of his friends (and even some relatives). It sadens me to think that someday nobody will come to his grave and his name will just be a few words chiseled into a headstone.

Life's just been a struggle lately, I just got too much on my plate to spend time with family, and I regret that. College's been tough on me, tougher than it should be this semester for some reason, but it's a chance I have, and a chance I have to take, for a dream I'm chasing. But everything just seems to contradict inside my head lately. Just trying, really am, the best I can. I still have a year and a half left and it just seems impossible honestly, it just does. When and if I finish college, I'm going to spend more time with family, the harsh recent years showed me that very valuable lesson.

My Dad was only a few months shy of 98 last August. We worked together many years, after he was older I was just always too busy to see him often. Lost the last year of his life to Covid as he was in assisted living we could not see him. We only got the last 2 days of his life when the called in Hospice. Tomorrow I have my first Fathers Day without my Father and my Son. Good song Cody and it’s meaning is right on point 💔

Truest story ever. My son was 17 and one day he was just gone. So many things, times and moments that will forever be frozen in time.
