@@DRod268 The one realistic possibility is that WWE will bend over backwards to keep Cody sweet solely to use him to undermine AEW. I can see them trying to keep him in the upper card and main event at least until 2024 so they can use a rematch with him to lure MJF away, as well as to try and appeal to other AEW talent by going "See? You can leave AEW to come work for us! We won't completely bury and squander you, no matter what all your coworkers who we completely buried and squandered before they went to AEW told you!" Because the only thing more important to Vince than stroking his own ego is crushing any opposition to maintain his monopoly... to stroke his own ego. Hell, it's even possible he might sacrifice his beloved Roman if that's what it takes to forge Cody into a weapon he can use to kill AEW.
@thepolarphantasm23192 жыл бұрын
@@ArcaneAzmadi as diabolical as this strategy could become... just gonna throw this out there: Cody's been in the dumpster fire again for less than twelve hours... meanwhile, he's been gone completely from AEW for what feels like months due to how densely packed with awesome dynamite+revolution+ROH resurrection have been. Also, Cody has spent much of his AEW career on (perhaps as?) what MF Steve Here of Going In Raw fame refers to as "Cody Island"... Unlike a jets fan speaking of Darelle revis, though, there is no inherent majesty or awe in his invocation of this slang. What I'm saying is Cody had rendered himself to 'a part, but apart' status by the time his Coco vs Ogogo match graced our screens. He's been playing with himself in a corner for nearly 30% of AEW's entire life. He has left only scant traces in his absence, too- ffs, FUEGO II has had a funeral service already and most aew fans aren't aware that ever happened 😂 Conclusion: Cody Rhodes has, through his own efforts, taken great fucking pains to erase his own legacy from Tony Khan's Tshirt Company, School of Twitter Announcements & Outlaw Mudshow Emporium. He's less noticeably absent than Brian Cage, who fans last saw in AEW around HALLOWEEN last year, iirc. Bears mentioning that only mentions of Rhodes family members not named 'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes have been related to how Brandi is sorely missed due to how much an expy of Jim Cornette enjoys calling her a stripper when she's a thing. Just sayin', WWE gonna have to REALLY play up how important Coco was to AEW in the early phase of Elite Era dominance... because he's squarely shoved his own legacy into the "Where are they now?" file with Jimmy Havoc and Ivilesse. Impressive as usual, Coco... you managed to beat Janela and Mr. Fun Size into that bitch 😂

The funny thing is, a lot of people were absolutely convinced that his last 10 months in AEW was actually a subverted heel run, that he would hint at a turn every now and then but deliberately avoid doing it in order to make the crowd hate him more and build anticipation for the eventual turn. But as it turns out, no he just wanted to be a babyface and couldn't make it work. One of the reasons people wanted him to turn heel is the kayfabe reason he's giving for leaving. They wanted him to turn heel so that he could break his promise and challenge for the title. Had he done that he could have been the biggest star in AEW. But he's in WWE now and I hope for his sake that whatever promises were made to him are kept but we'll see how it goes.

What I'm very worried about is that Cody has bought into his own hype. He might think he's the new Hogan, bigger than the industry, able to go wherever he wants and be the top guy, and that he genuinely refused to turn heel because he just couldn't accept that people didn't want to cheer him any more even after he fatally derailed his character with the terrible Ogogo feud. Rather than playing a delusional heel character, maybe he was just actually delusional. Maybe this will work out for him, probably won't, but if he thinks he's the new Hogan and that he can dictate terms to the famously petty and egotistical Vince, he's out of his mind.

If he keeps losing, he isn't doing any better for his career or for the Rhodes legacy. I'll say he make the best decision returning back to WWE. He may be the reason for AEW existence. Just like what Dusty used to do. And I have to agree. The current title holder in AEW doesn't have star power. Hangman might go down as the most boring World Champion of all time followed by Jinder Mahal. Regarding his run, I have to admit it has become stale. I'm interested to see how he will be booked in the coming month, since if he just wants to be a babyface, than I don't have that much hope given WWEs track record in the last few years. Also... it is the Wrestling world, everyone was/is/will be a face or a heel. Embrace it, to get more over and have longevity. Just look at Jericho and how he has done it every single time. And with how Cody got portrayed at AEW, with his wife being a heel since day one on Dynamite, their entire enterage thing, exaggerated pyro and this ultimately overbooking of blowoff matches with heel turn teases, sorry but of course fans would boo you. He could have used his expired contract to turn heel and challenge for the world title, be a prick about it and be on top there and after some time turn face when it is needed. I'm sure the fans didn't hate him as a person, but his gimmick got stale and people didn't want another Cena/Reigns for years and years.

Cody has decided to go start his own revolution, complete with hookers and blackjack. This masterplan needs time to properly be formulated and all that, and his people are busy working on it in his Nightmare Laboratory... so in the interim he will be taking a small role in a television series that's in desperate need of a fresh face. Unfortunately for him, this series is a WWE program... where his face has passed its sell-by date, and his neck-oration screams "Vince, make me wear body paint again!" His old lady, who was much of his heat-generation issues' source, has somehow managed to avoid involvement with WWE while securing a cable tv cooking series, leading many people to say "no justice in this world CONFIRMED". Her first recipe is rumored to be a three course meal consisting of only brown liquors; updates to follow when available.

It was a mix of things, from doing shitty TV, to Brandi having to pop in anywhere she could, to singling himself out and away from others to a point where it was like he was only working with his trained guys. The Factory thing was really the fuse(again mixed with many things) and Black was the spark. At Queens it was just natural for everybody to loudly boo this man.
@anastasi20122 жыл бұрын
I think Cody Rhode's problem is Cody Runnels. The man holds higher levels of expectation to himself and I don't feel like the fans or his peers hold him up to those same expectations. When Cody lost the TNT title to Darby Allin is when Cody got put in a tight spot because he agreed to never challenge for the AEW world title. So in his mind, he believed that the alternative was to be the top Babyface and he tried way too hard to make the fans see him in that light. His own stubbornness is what got him booed out of the buildings at the end. He should of got over himself and turned heel on Sammy Guevara after he dropped the TNT title to him and then went on to go back on his word to challenge for the AEW title. As proud as I am of that match and his return last night I have to ask, how long will it be until Cody gets frustrated again? It's guaranteed that no matter how much Vince caters to him now, that corporate hammer is eventually going to drop and when it does he's not going to bend for the founder of his competition. Look how long it took to make amends with Jeff Jarrett.

Loved the match but lost my respect afterward when Cody basically went on an ego trip saying he’s the best wrestler on the planet and then proceeds to kiss the backsides of Triple H and McMahon. It all just seems wrong but money and power talks.

WWE has put out three t-shirts out of Cody already while Bobby Lashley has one and that one came out almost two years ago!

Hopefully the guy can find a bit of happiness, wwe probably suits him better to be fair. Both companies win with him in wwe, there wasn't really a place for him in aew anymore.

Cody was having a shitload of backstage and off set fun, which is something anyhow... hey, if WWE allows twitch nonsense again perhaps he can continue playing Halo Infinite! ...oh wait, that game died pretty hard I hear eeeek

@@TheJSexton24 You want the idea of MJF. You wouldn't get MJF. You'd get a PG ver. that wouldn't be allowed to go all out because of the audience WWE caters to -- and because of his general height he wouldn't be pushed to the max like you want. If you actually want MJF, you let MJF stay in AEW.
@TheJSexton242 жыл бұрын
@@nonechuks6683 I believe MJF could get heel heat with in the restraints of being in WWE they’re starting to open up to their superstars coming in without their stamp on it. Look at Cody, became a bigger star in one night than 3 years with the competition

@@TheJSexton24 You're experiencing that WM hangover, my friend. WWE does big spectacles better than anyway. But let's wait and see where Cody is 6 months from now after going through week-to-week WWE, which is famously bad. E: Also, you're very clueless if you believe they'll let MJF say whatever he wants. At least Cody was a WWE name before he left. MJF in WWE's environment would experience a complete 180 of corporate BS compared to where he is now. Especially since he's been actively booking side jobs, which WWE would make him give them a cut of his earnings for no reason whatsoever -- if they even LET him do it.

This was a very good WWE Return. Cody looks like a million bucks. Definitely oozes Main Eventer. Here’s what I don’t understand: AEW fans spent the last year of Cody’s run shitting on him. You guys have absolutely no right to be mad he left. I’m no WWE fan, but Night 1 of WrestleMania 38 was pretty damn good.

He stinks and we booed him out of the company. Last night was decent but not near as good as AEWs worst ppv.

You seem more mad then most people I have read comments from. Most people who are AEW wished him well and said they hoped he is treated well. That's kind of the opposite of mad lol

I want the guy to do well, but as AEW fans, it was clear wrestling wasn't his priority. He's where he belongs. Good for him for getting himself over all this time, but this last year and some change it was obvious for all to see. For me personally I always thought he stood out like a sore thumb with those guys, and not always in a bad way. I didn't think this was coming,but makes perfect sense now. ps, not all AEW fans are the same. Just the super loud bitchy ones👍😂

@@rkrivera Eh, first comment I saw on this video was an idiotic self-professed AEW fan calling him a sellout, saying how glad he is that Cody is gone, and bragging that he didn't even watch the video because he only came here to "laugh at all the e-drones". As an ACTUAL AEW fan, I felt embarrassed by association with him, because he was acting exactly like the worst WWE fanboys do. All audiences have their morons.
