Exactly. And after he beat 'Taker, the next night on RAW Roman got on the mic & said 'This is MY yard now'. Y'know that somehow that still resonates between those two( also, Roman eliminated Undertaker in the Royal Rumble as I recall also ). Yes, the main event had several tie-ins with Roman's past opponents AND his past association with The Shield. And his chair shot on Rollins was an act of revenge since Roman deep down never let that go( when Rollins 1st turned on The Shield a decade ago, which is hard to imagine that's been 10 YEARS since that happened ).

It’s pure cinema at this point. Taker has had history with the whole bloodline in the past, from rikishi, Yokozuna and Roman.

Cena got revenge on Solo Undertaker got revenge on Heyman and Roman (Both involved in his only two losses at Mania) Jey chased off his brother Seth kept his word to be Cody's shield and Reign's resentment of Rollins over defeating Cody cost him his momentum and shortly there-after, the match. Cody finished the story. He then celebrates with the likes of Orton(his mentor), Zayn and KO(Friends), CM Punk(His RR opponent), Jey, Seth, Cena, LA Knight(his war allies), and of course his wife. These observations were made by others, but thought I'd share them since it makes the event even better if you piece all the bits together.

I'm not a Roman fan but I'll give him this, thru the pandemic and until now he put WWE on his back and carried it along with a few other major names. Roman is who most people think of when they think of current WWE. He deserves a nice long break with his family.

Do you really think so? Put the WWE on his back? As "great" as people will say his reign (no pun intended) was, I don't think I could ever say a part-timer put the company on his back. Seth, Cody, Gunther, Bayley, Becky, and the Usos..... the company was on THEIR backs in my opinion. I honestly don't even think Roman's title reign has been interesting since Clas at the Castle, EXCEPT for when Cody was in the mix, of course. What kept him on top was the whole Bloodline saga, not his matches. In MY opinion......

@@onyx3223 I agree on the part timer thing but that didn't start untill he signed his new contract in what was it the middle of last year. Before that the Bloodline was one of WWEs major running plots, some like me would say it's run a little too long. Besides there have been rumors for the last couple years that Roman wanted to take an extended leave with his family, I would have been livid if they let him just take off while still holding the title.

I would have loved Austin too lads but no connection to the bloodline so would have had the pop but everyone had connection. Taker got beat by Roman and Jey had his misgivings. Then Cena v Rock and of course Seth in the Shield gear. So there was back story with all the run ins. Austin would have had a huge pop but his connection with Rock 20 years ago would have been cool but not quite as poetic and cinematic as it was. The Hogan/Rock emulation where Rock/Cena looked into the crowd was pretty sweet as well.

It was apart of Rollins plan. Remember that in one of the promos, he said he'd be a shield for Cody in his match against Roman. So, in that moment, he protected Cody from Roman. Not only by taking the Superman punch, but the chair shot that gave Cody enough time to recover. In this sense, he was the Iron Man of this match. He sacrificed himself (he also used to be called The Messiah and we had Easter last week) so Cody could accomplish his goal.
