Tapit is in the pedigree of both Cody's Wish and Proxy, as their damsire and sire, respectively. Tapit, one of the most successful sires in U.S. history, is 23 now. His stud career is winding down. He stands stud at Gainesway, not at Jonabell, like these two young stallions. Tapit's 2024 stud fee is $185,000. It topped out several years running at $300,000, the highest of his era. The most expensive stallion in N. America for 2024 is Into Mischief, with stud fee of $250,000. For comparison, Cody's Wish is debuting at $75,000, Proxy for $25,000. Both Tapit and Into Mischief debuted at lower stud fees than Proxy's $25,000. I wish Proxy and especially Cody's Wish the best in their new career, but they are unlikely to be as successful at stud as their progenitor has been, much less produce anything as good as Tapit's best son, Flightline, now at Lane's End. But, as is proven by the unexpected trajectory of the stud careers of Tapit and Into Mischief -- we never know ahead of time! I'm old enough that I probably will not see the natural conclusion of the stud careers of Cody's Wish and Proxy, 20 or so years from now. Unless Proxy turns out to be a really successful sire, I will likely forget his name. Cody's Wish is on my list of favorite racehorses, as he is on so many people's. Cody Wish's daddy, Curlin, is also on that list.

When you're talking about a Horses breeding, you say BY a stallion and OUT of a Mare. Stallions CANNOT give brith to Foals, it is the Mare that gives birth. Have had a gutsful of people say OUT of a Stallion, it's OUT of a Mare, and BY a stallion!!!!!!
